I really agonized on how many stars for my bike service. I took my bike in because a friend works there. My major concern with this very old Schwinn was that the gear jumps from #2 to #1 when I ride over a bump. I told Ron this issue and to give a "standard" tuneup. I brought it in on Tuesday and Thursday it was ready. I run over there, and rode the 'tuned' bike home. Well, it is still doing the EXACT same thing, so the next day, Friday, I rode back and spoke to the same guy I spoke with on Tuesday, Ron, I guess. He takes a look and puts a part on and rides around out side and problem is fixed. I get ready to go and he says "I need to charge you for the 7 dollar part." Wait, I had to take an hour to come back and forth to get the thing that you were suppose to fix 'refixed'? Nary a word on , SORRY we didnt do this earlier. I am sorry I am NOT returning. Ron, you acted like you were doing me a favor. I should have listened to my husband and gone to Sprocket Cycle. They are always SO friendly. read more

Well. Just called. Didn't catch the name of the guy who answered the phone. Called to get pricing on a tuneup for a road bike my friend is lending to me. Wanted to compare prices. The shop I called minutes prior to this shop was super friendly and helpful. Smith's cycle is right down the street but NOT stepping foot into this place after speaking with the gentlemen who answered. RUDE, was rushing me off the phone. We were here 2 days ago to inflate my daughters bike tires . The employee was courteous and very friendly. We told him that my daughter's bike was purchased here 2 years ago, with no questions ask ,he just fix/ inflate our bike. Then we asked if we can have him inflate another bike & not sure where my parents got it from for the kids but the employee just took care of us, he fixed/inflate the tires for the 2nd bike. Great customer service and experience at Smith's Cycle. Ronnie and his tech's are very courteous and good at what they do. My chain was slipping like crazy on my bike and even though they're extremely busy right now, they repaired my bike quickly...and for a lot less than I was expecting! I was pleasantly surprised. Every time I think of "repairs" on cars or anything else, I think of sleazy "service experts" that try and tack on everything under the sun...but not here. I've been here a couple times now and it's been nothing but a great experience! Today I picked up my bike and bought a water bottle holder from their store before going home. Without hesitation, Ronnie voluntarily puts it on my bike. It was good that he did because it turns out two of my bolts were stripped and I would've been at home struggling with it! I know they've been really busy, especially lately, but their quality of service hasn't suffered a bit. I've seen Ronnie interact w/ many customers and he treats everyone with kindness and respect. I went in today to buy a bike rack at Smith's bike shop. I was greeted buy an employee and assisted immediately. I was treated very professionally and was shown a selection of products that would fit my car. I never felt like I was trying to be sold on the most expensive rack but the one that would actually work well for me. I indicated that I was looking to buy a secondary bike in the near future, so I asked which bikes there would serve my needs. I had a service there and they greased the sprockets, chain and cranks VERY POORLY with actual black grease not DRY chain LUBE .. cranks ,chain , sprockets are all filthy with THICK BLACK grease and chain has black grease all over it .. Haven't you guys ever heard of dry chain lube for mountain bikes ??? Pretty RIDICULOUS !!! Bought my bike here a few weeks ago ... the stem for the handlebars was loose also the fork top tube bolt was loose , the cable on the shifting was loose couldn't even switch gears correctly... I could have gotten in a MAJOR ACCIDENT.. A Few days later it had a clicking noise which they said was due to the pedals .. I took it in, ( nothing fixed ) still making the same noise .. bike had grease all over the wheels and seat tube , everywhere.. I had old pedals ( which they said was the issue, so I bought new ones.. NOPE. That wasn't the issue... but like I said Horrible Job ! NOT SURE HOW YOU GUYS STAY IN BUSINESS ESPECIALLY WITH THE HORRIBLE SERVICE AND LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF QUESTIONS I'VE ASKED ..ONCE AGAIN..They put Black thick grease all over the chain , sprockets and cranks super sloppy job !
