Someone broke into my car and, as one could imagine, it was a huge inconvenience. Smith Auto and Upholstery provided a fast and professional service. They were able to replace my window within a few hours and cleaned all of the broken glass out of my car. I hope to never have to use their services again but I will definitely recommend them to anyone who may need a window replaced. read more

Woke up this morning, found driver side power mirror had been vandalized. Went to see Len at Central Service and Repair (best car repair garage in Baltimore - also a historic landmark.) Len sent me up the street to Smith Auto. Talked to Fred...gave me a VERY reasonable quote, special ordered the part, hoped to arrive and install Thur or Fri...Mon at the latest. I went home, less than an hour later, he called to say part arrived, come over now and he'd install it immediately. Superb service! and Fred is now my newest friend. Anything auto glass or upholstery...please support local businesses. Most enjoy long term customer satisfaction, i don't believe in giving my business to some national chain franchise. I was referred here by John from Gerry's Tires so I had no qualms about the business. I came in to get a chip on my windshield sealed bright and early at 8 am. I was out by 8:20. I called ahead and the receptionist said that no appointment was necessary. They charged me $75, which is what John said it would cost. Unless the work ends up being crap and my windshield falls apart, i think it's fair to say this was a win. read more

My car had its back windshield smashed during the day. I called at 8 am the next day, and I was able to bring my car in at 8:30 am to have it fixed. The job was done the same day, and gentleman at the front desk was professional and explained everything. They had a slightly higher quote than another competitor, but it was certainly worth it! Sadly, my car was vandalized and I wanted to get my busted window fixed ASAP. I called around to several auto glass repair shops and their prices weren't making me feel warm and fuzzy. Finally my fiance suggested I give Smith's a call and request a quick over the phone quote. A wonderful gentleman by the name of Fred gave me a great price (half of what others quoted), answered my several frazzled questions and numerous calls..all with a friendly and helpful demeanor. They had my window in stock and was able to book me a same day appointment. I arrived at 1:30pm and they were able to get my car in the shop within 10 minutes and thank God because torrential downpour began shortly after I arrived. He said it would take about an hour and a half to fix my car and his estimate was spot on. Now the waiting room isn't too fancy but it works and there is free Wi-Fi. Luckily Orange is the New Black just started, so I was well occupied for the entire wait time. There is also a strip of plugs for phone charging. Overall the experience was pleasant and I am very grateful that they were able to make a frustrating experience as painless as possible. Recommend this place to all! read more

There are moments in life when you get to experience businesses in the city who have an old school Main Street mentality and it's these moments that you want to cherish. From the moment I called Fred was a class act. (A darn rock hit my windshield and I needed it repaired). He called insurance and facilitated the call which was nice to do even though I had already made the claim (I appreciated the thorough approach). When I got there everyone was attentive and kind. Mr. Fred hooked the kids up with paper and crayons and really genuinely cared about us being comfortable as we waited on the repair. This is the place to get your car glass repaired. They also are more than willing to come to wherever you are to repair the windshield. I backed out of my on location appointment because I was just too unsure about where I'd be at what time. By far the best customer experience since moving to Baltimore!!!! I was scheduled to have my windshield replaced on the 15th. Due to the weather I was informed the garage door at Smith was not working. I was contacted as soon as possible so I wouldn't waste my time driving to the location. Around 12pm I received a very apologetic call requesting to reschedule my appointment due to the door not being fixed in a timely manner. They even offered to come to me for free due to the inconvenience. I needed to weight my options as I would have to take time off work. He found a matching windshield and planned to do mobile service, but high winds prevented that. So I followed him to the shop and waited there. Very friendly people and a quality job. My car was broken into and the glass on the driver's side door was almost completely smashed in. At about 8:40 I called around to a few places and found Smith had the lowest price and good reviews. They also had an appointment at 10:45. I brought the car in and waited for it. The work was done in about 45 minutes and I was able to do work in the waiting area using the free wifi. Once the car was finished, I asked if I could get a discount if I paid in cash. They were able to knock a small amount off but when I attempted to pay the woman behind the counter said they didn't have change for a 20. I was a bit annoyed at first, but without saying anything she automatically decided to still honor the cash price when I paid credit. The work they did looks great and I have no complaints. I think vacuuming isn't really an extra touch for this kind of thing, but they did a really great job and seem to have gotten everything, which I didn't expect.Hopefully I won't have to get glass replaced again, but if I have to I know where I'm going to go. read more

The church that I work for needed a windshield replaced on one of our commercial vehicles. We went with Safelite first and they wouldn't touch the windshield because of some rust (the vehicle is a 1985 truck!). We called Smith Auto and they came out the next day. The technician, Bob, was friendly and helpful. He did good quality work in a reasonable amount of time. When it was time to pay, I called Stacy at Smith to use our business credit card. The card was declined, even though we tried to run it twice. It simply wouldn't work. I politely said to Stacy, "I can't use a business check because we need two authorized signatures and I am the only person here with an authorized signature. How can we work this out?" She was very polite and put me on hold for several minutes. The man that picked up the phone started our conversation with: "So, you don't have enough money to pay for this service?" I thought he was bantering so I laughed and said, "I guess not." He said, "So you mean to tell me that you engaged our company for business and now you don't have enough money to pay?" I said, "Are you serious right now?" At this point, I had already grabbed my personal card so that I could just pay and get reimbursed later. He said, "Do you think you could use your personal credit card if the company has enough money to reimburse you?" He put Stacy back on the phone and she was very apologetic and helpful. I have never been spoken to this way in business before. I wasn't asking for a free service, I was simply looking for how we could resolve the issue. Unfortunately, when an incident like this occurs, no matter how wonderful Bob and Stacy were, it makes it difficult to look past the lack of basic courtesy to recommend or use a business again. read more

I had a crack across my windshield and had to get it replaced. I found Smith Auto Glass on Yelp so I emailed them. I then called and got a quote. A few minutes later, I also had an email response from the owner. My quote was way less than any other quote from anyone I called. Because of the location, I was a little concerned with the service I would receive but because I was short on money, I had to take my chances. When I dropped my jeep off, I was offered a ride to anywhere I wanted to go and a ride back. The staff was very courteous and professional but not too professional. I didn't notice the best part of my experience until a few weeks later. I had a windshield sticker that I got when I was in the military and saw it was a little worn in a corner. I started questioning who would mess with my sticker until I realized Smith Auto Glass carefully removed it from my broken window and replaced it on my new window in the same place. Besides the excellent service I received, this certainly put my experience over the top! read more
