Super shady shop!!! I bought a car from a guy who gave me complete maintenance records of all the repairs Leading Edge did for him. There were all sorts of scams and unnecessary repairs including: 1. Leading Edge replaced the front brakes at 119k miles and then again at 130k miles. Brakes again after 11k!! Front brakes should last at least 40k miles, usually more like 60-70k. 2. Leading Edge replaced the lower control arms at 116k and again at 146k. Control arm bushings last at least 100k miles. If you need control arms again at 30k, either the parts were junk or the alignment wasn't done right. 3. Leading Edge charged labor to replace both the serpentine belt and the alternator. You have to remove the belt to remove the alternator, so an honest shop wouldn't charge for the belt when doing the alternator. To charge full price for both is outrageous. 4. Leading Edge charged $250 to replace the radiator and $174 to replace the radiator hoses. You have to remove the hoses to replace the radiator. Here again, it's a rip off to charge labor for both. 5. Leading Edge charged $475 labor (just labor!!) to install tires, clean the beads, and replace one TPMS. $60-120 is typical at most shops for all this work, especially if you are buying tires from them. $475 for tire installation is probably the most outrageous repair scam I've ever seen. read more

I brought my car to Leading Edge after my dealership couldn't figure out a grinding noise coming from the front end. They confidently assured me they'd find the problem a promise I'd never heard from a mechanic before. Their team did a full-day, top-to-bottom inspection and not only pinpointed the grinding issue, but also uncovered several maintenance needs from normal wear and tear my car is 11 years old. They found worn struts and a torn CV boot problems that could have left me stranded if left untreated. It was worth every penny to have everything repaired. We had a parking lot fender bender that involved quite a lot of body work. We took it to leading edge having never used them before and were super happy with how the process went as well as the outcome. After we drove it home we realized that there were some issues with a fuse/setting in the new headlight as well as some clicking/resistance with the window going up and down. We called them and they had us bring in the car right away to make it right. On that second visit, somehow my husband and I lost the key to the car. (He had shown up with his own key etc.). After searching at home for the extra key for several weeks we called Leading Edge again to see if it was maybe there. But they've never lost a key (and I believe them!) so what they did do was really amazing and surprising: they set us up with Adas Elite that takes care of rekeying cars etc (highly recommend) and paid for the new key! Really was so happy with the service, the professionalism, their commitment to making sure we were really truly happy customers. We will be back for sure! I saw Leading Edge Auto Body had a Groupon for a wheel alignment, which I knew that I needed for a car I recently purchased. I called to set up an appointment on Sep 17, 2020, and I was told that the alignment would not be able to happen if there was damage to the vehicle. I decided to set the appointment, but not buy the Groupon until I knew for sure they would be able to do the alignment. On the day of my appointment with Leading Edge Auto Body (Sept 28, 2020), I explained I wanted an alignment because I had to hold the steering wheel to the left for the car to drive straight. He visually inspected the car and said it was probably because only one front brake was replaced. I told him that it was crooked before I got the brake replaced. I was told that I could not wait in the waiting room of Leading Edge Auto Body due to Covid-19. Leading Edge Auto Body asked if I would be leaving the car. I said no, I will be waiting. The man told me there is a Starbucks down the street and pointed in that direction. I went into the Whole Foods and ordered two pieces of sicilian pizza (super good btw). While I was waiting for the pizza, I got a call from Leading Edge Auto Body asking me if I was going to be using any Groupon or coupon. I said yes I will be using a Groupon, but I didn't buy it yet, I wanted to see if you would be able to do the alignment first. I was told they would be doing the alignment so I agreed to purchase the Groupon. I was told I had to purchase the Groupon before they started the service, and they had to see it. I walked back to Leading Edge Auto Body. When I first got back, I told them that my Groupon just said "pending", and they said that's okay... It takes Groupon a couple of minutes to create the barcode. I sat down and I ate my pizza, and no one bothered me or told me about Covid-19 restrictions. I was the only customer present in the waiting area this entire time anyway. Ten minutes or so later, a worker came over to me and gave me a paper with an estimate on it for $1,235.10. He told me they did the alignment, but the car would need the following repairs, and then, once the repairs were completed, it would need another alignment. I was so confused, because this directly contradicted what I was told when I made my appointment weeks before. Furthermore, when I was given the estimate paper, I was not given the alignment paperwork, and I was not given my receipt. I was asked to wait for my receipt. I waited for 5 minutes before I asked for my key. I figured while I was waiting for my receipt and the alignment paperwork, that I could check my steering wheel to see if it was truly fixed. It turns out, that it was not fixed at all! I was really upset, because I was very explicit on the problem that I was having with the car. Instead of going back inside upset, I drove away without my receipt and alignment paperwork, but still with the estimate paperwork, which I will attach. I tried to go back to Groupon and cancel my Leading Edge Auto Body Groupon, but to my surprise, they had already marked it as used, on their end, with their computer. They hadn't looked at my phone at all. I called Groupon, and they said there was nothing they could do, because Leading Edge Auto Body had marked it as used. I called Leading Edge Auto Body and I explained to the manager why I felt I was being scammed. After we talked on the phone for a whole 15 minutes, he got frustrated with me as I detailed my encounter just as I am right now in this review. He ended up yelling at me, telling me that he will call Groupon so that I can get a refund. Then he said "Never come back do you hear me? Never. Come. Back." (As if I would.) As I was agreeing to this, he hung up on me. The manager of Leading Edge Auto Body was true to his word, and I did receive money back for the alignment Groupon. Unfortunately, Groupon does not allow you to receive a refund back to your card, so I am stuck with "Groupon Bucks" instead of having my actual money back in my account. Last week I went to a different auto repair shop and they heated up my tie rods and did the front-end alignment that Leading Edge Auto Body failed to do, but attempted to charge me for. I will attach the proof of this as well. My bill was less than $200 and it drives perfect now! I'm very happy with my car now! (I will be more than happy to share the name of this business with anyone who wants to know, just send me a message.) I want to make sure that this doesn't happen to anybody else. I feel like Leading Edge Auto Body tried to take advantage of me and didn't believe that I would be smart enough to catch on to the game that they were playing. If this review even helps one person steer clear of Leading Edge Auto Body or buying their Groupons, then it has done its job. read more

I wish I could give Leading Edge more than 5 stars. I will never ever consider taking my car to another shop. I went in to have a pretty significant scrape on the passenger side repaired. The car is older, has plenty of dings and scratches, and it now has patches of peeling paint. When I picked the car up later in the day, not only was it impossible to see where the scrape had been, but the technicians had repaired most if not all of the other dings and scratches. I can honestly say it looks better now than it's looked in years. I was floored - just absolutely stunned. It meant so very much to me to be treated so well by the guys at Leading Edge - it was such a surprise that I almost burst into tears. Everyone at the shop was honest, friendly, and so nice - and I'm so thankful for the kindness and generosity and for the AMAZING work they did to make my older, tired car look snazzy and new! Some damage to the passenger side of my 2016 Subaru Legacy was sustained in my gym parking lot. So I stopped by Leading Edge Collision on a Saturday & asked for a quote from Jeff. If I filed for collision insurance, I would have needed to leave the car there for possibly 7 days and pay a hefty deductible, plus rent a car. But I wanted a quick fix. Kudos to Jeff for accommodating me. He asked that I bring my car in later in the week. And in 3 hours on December 11, 2024 his crew buffed out the scratches - you would really have to stare to see any damage. And the cost was stunningly reasonable. Incidentally, I have used this shop for insurance claims on family cars over a span of many years. I have also employed them for mechanical services. I've had my cars serviced at LE and was have been totally satisfied. After my last visit I noticed that items in my trunk were scattered and I was missing two chairs and a battery charger. I had noticed the sign in the shop to take your valuables out of you car but this was two chairs and a battery charger. I spoke with the manager who stated that if I purchased replacements and submitted the receipt that I would be reimbursed. I did as I was instructed , submitted the receipt mid-November and I've received nothing. This is a warning - please take everything out of you car that you don't want to replace. You will not be reimbursed even if they say you they will. 12/27/23 - PLEASE be advised this issue has been resolved. This is THE ONLY place to go if you are remotely close to Pikesville/Mt. Washington. I have gone to Leading Edge for auto work as well as body work many times. I can't say how many times they've said, "xyz isn't the problem, it's xyz," which means it will cost $50 versus $500. That's the kind of place this is. But, not just a matter of good prices - they get the problem solved - the first time. They are not going to overcharge, or make you believe that the issue is something that it isn't. I have referred many to Leading Edge, and they have all been just as happy. One thing, they can be tough to get into, so you'll likely need to make an appointment.
