Well this place is great for kids. I brought by 6-year-old son and he had a blast! When you first enter, there's the biggest ball pit I've ever seen with interactive pneumatic tubes, rotating platforms, and a nearby climbing wall and slides. Beyond that, there are more play structures and a basketball area with trampolines. In the back half of the building, there's a rice pit (basically like a sandbox, but with rice instead of sand), a very fun smaller ball pit with interactive screens - throw the balls at the video game projection and blow up the bad guys, a lego area, and a small arcade (additional purchase required). We saw dozens and dozens of kids having the best time of their life. There was a good amount of seating for adults throughout the building, so we always had a place to sit to keep an eye on the kids. There are lots of hand sanitizer stations throughout and we frequently saw workers with vacuums. We played for 3 hours and our kid could have stayed much longer. I would guess older kids might get bored more quickly, but for preschool or early elementary kids, Smiley seems like heaven. You do have to buy the Smiley grippy socks, but that's a standard penalty for play places these days. After you're done playing, hit up Bugambilias a few doors down for amazing Mexican food! read more

While visiting the Castleton location, my 1-year-old child came out of the ball pit and handed me an OPEN KNIFE. Photo attached. This happened in a play area specifically designed for young children. Thankfully, my child was not hurt, but that was pure luck. The potential outcome here is horrifying to think about. A sharp weapon in a toddler ball pit represents a serious failure in safety, supervision, and inspection protocols. I immediately notified management. While the manager was kind, the severity of the situation felt dismissed. No immediate safety checks were done. No effort was made to notify other families currently playing. I was told "I just don't want you to leave and go tell all your friends that Smiley's is terrible." I'm sharing this not for attention and not to complain--but to bring awareness to other parents. Smiley's stayed open and operating like it's any other day. I will continue to advocate for children's safety and truly hope this leads to real change so no other family has to experience this fear--or something far worse. I'll keep sharing because meaningful change only happens when people speak up. read more

My kids had a great time here. We came on a weekday during the morning. Everything felt pretty clean - as clean as an indoor play area can be, anyways. Tons for kids to do. You pay by the hour...but no one really was monitoring that so I'm not sure how that's supposed to work. Food, drinks, and admission is pretty $$ IMO. We ate pizza, fries, and split a drink. The pizza slices WERE very large, so that was a perk. Hardly any staff monitoring anything at all. Several times I had to tell kids to stop throwing toys. This is such a great space to bring small children to for a great time. I did book a party room and it was all setup when I arrived. They assign a sort of "concierge" host person that was SUPER helpful and sweet(wish I remembered her name)and was able to bring things i may have forgotten. There's an arcade area for bigger kids, or to let the little ones pretend they're playing for free lol. One pizza came with outr package but I ordered an extra because it was better than expected. I do wish they had sanitizer stations in the party rooms but other than that it was a great experience and we look forward to returning. read more

The last time I went to this place it was a MADHOUSE and I vowed never to come back. Like any other establishment, the most popular times for birthday parties are on Saturday.. Not any fault to Smiley, but the amount of families in the location was overwhelming during my last visit. But 1-year-old daughter was invited to a birthday party, so I figured I give it a try again. The party was on Saturday from 4:30-6:30 pm. This time, it wasn't too crowded and my daughter enjoyed herself. She wasn't pushed around or had to worry about sharing objects. The play area didn't smell or make me feel like it was unsafe for her to play freely. She enjoyed the rice sensory play area and the lego station the most. The birthday party went off without a hitch and the birthday staff seemed to be on their job to ensure the birthday family was satisfied. Significantly smaller than expected I feel like most of the issues are here are mostly with the parents rather than the facility(Not emptying pockets creating hazards in the play area) . But the biggest contributor is the lack of employee involvement no one walks the area and checks they play area at all. 0 involvement maintaining anything other than checking you in. Price is per hour and parents have to pay to walk around with your kid which is ridiculous considering the fact it's a kid play place obviously I'm not coming here to play. The tables never get cleaned off. The theme of the place is cool. The music is genuinely so god awful that it is impossible to listen to. It's only kids bop for HOURSSSS. I hate no one has mentioned the music is kids bop it's probably the worst part about the entire place. Didn't get the hype for Smiley's - it's actually pretty small - we're used to the crazies of Billy Bee's. There's a ball pit, small play area, lego area, sensory rice play area, arcade room and a couple birthday party rooms. 1-2 hours max of play time maybe. Some people are pretty bad and inconsiderate taking their clearly heavily sick children to an indoor playground, though...there was a kid who was leaking an alarming amount of green boogers down his face... I threw my daughter's 3rd birthday here today and was mostly pleased with the experience. There was some confusion after the booking process concerning having to pay for parents to shadow their children. And I find the policy about a 20% charge for opting to bring your own food and drinks to be particularly insufferable because their food is overpriced and simply not good. Some policies were unclear or misleading and I was upset but the coordinator worked with me for a resolution that left me happy with the event. You must pay in cash or via check or Zelle if hosting an event here. The facility could be more clean, particularly in the party area. Smiley is a good place for younger kids - 10 and under. That's one of the pluses for me. It's not really big and the prices can be kind of expensive just for jumping in the ball pit. It's a good time to get the kids out of the house and I always suggest going earlier to avoid the crowds. Since COVID I have been hyper aware of the germ factor and this place kind of freaks me out with all of the touch points. There are sanitation stations available so that helps a bit. read more

YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY IS AT RISK HERE- There have been multiple reports of children finding needles in the ball pits. There is a recent report of a child finding a knife in the pit. A child close to me had to be resuscitated an hour after leaving here from drug overdose. Fentanyl came back in his tox screen. The company was not made liable because there was no physical evidence but the police believed there were remnants of fentanyl on the balls in the ball pit and then the child put their hands in their mouth. This company continues to take down reviews that say these things. If you value your child's safety, go anywhere else!! read more

There is tons of parking here in the lot that it shares with the other businesses in the mall that it is in. It has stuff for 1 to 10 year olds. You can't miss this place. They have a huge coin operated tank and a xylophone out front. They have specials on certain days like moms are free on Monday, and Dads are free on Wednesday. They also occasionally have Groupon deals. You will need a pair of the trampoline park socks. My littles and I had pairs from another park that we had been to, so we were good. You can try your luck and put your stuff in a cubby outside the play area for free or you can rent a locker from the front counter when you pay your admission. The ginormous pit full of antimicrobial blue and white balls is impressive and definitely catches the eye. They have a giant slide, two trampolines, a spinning perch, a platform, spinning rings, a couple of ball vacuums, one of which dumps the balls it collects on your head. The balls are about 4 inches deep in most spots. Behind the ball pit is a rock climbing wall with foam blocks to break your fall. There are chairs along the wall that look into the play area where parents who do not feel like wadding through the balls can sit and watch their kids. The place also has two trampoline basketball courts and a huge jungle gym, with a slide and some air cannons that shoot foam balls. right across from the jungle gym is a little kid play area that has a padded merry go round, and some animals that the little kids can ride on. There are also some large foam blocks and a toddler sized pin art board. The place has a full arcade with some awesome games and you can win some prizes, like Chuck E. Cheese style. It was not open when I got there, but eventually did open up during my visit. The back side of the place, where the arcade is located is awesome. They have this interactive beach play area that is full of rice. You will have to see it to believe it. There is also a ball pit game where you take some of the balls from the ball pit and hit characters on the wall, in turn the charters that you hit fall and disappear. The final thing on that side is an adult sized pin are board. There are some nice themed party rooms available to rent for a reasonable price, including a space theme, a dinosaur them, future theme and an ocean theme. Like I said, the rooms are very nice. Of course this place has a full snack bar in the back. They have a wide assortment of ice cream, drinks, pizza, candy, snacks and light food. It is reasonably priced. There are booths and tables along the wall behind the play area and in the snack bar area. The staff here is ok. They are there and they do their job. They will not go out of their way and probably will not speak to you. They are just there to work it seems. This is a fun place and the time flew blew. My 2 and 6 year old had a blast. I really enjoyed their tech stuff. I am really considering having my littles birthday party here next year. I am sure that he and his guests will enjoy it. This place has an appeal for a wide range of ages and is very entertaining. I would have probably given it 5 stars, but a similar place that I went to the day prior really set a high bar. read more

We had my son's 3rd birthday party here. And while the kids definitely had fun there were a few issues. First and foremost my son and I got food poisoning that evening after the party around midnight. We were the only 2 that had the fruit punch and my husband and I think that is what caused it since none of the other kids got sick. Next up was just the professionalism and explanation of the process day of. We were not provided any walk through of what we needed to do upon arrival or what to tell guest to do when they arrived. I was also told I needed to purchase my own back drop since the one they order had not arrived yet even though I spoke to someone 2 months in advance and they said they would be getting everything in a week or 2. When we arrived it was a mad house of course. I went to the front to ask what I needed to do since I was there for a party and it seemed like the young lady had an attitude with me like I was supposed to already know what to do. She had to call someone else to help us since she did not have access to the party info or something like that. Our party host was great and I wish I remembered her name. Overall the venue is fun for kids, my son loves the place which is why I booked the party there. The only thing you normally need to bring is a cake for your little one. I wish they just communicated better and had a better process for party check in. And yeah check those soda machines. I was lucky enough to snag a deal on Groupon for an hour of playtime for 2, for $12. The original Groupon price was $20, but I used a 40% off coupon. This worked out nicely, because we then spent $12 on 4 pairs of their socks. I knew from the pictures online that my toddler granddaughters would have a great time. They are turning 3 and 4, very soon, and they love a good "play place." As soon as they walked in to Smiley's and saw the playscape thru the wall of windows, they began screaming with excitement. We found plenty of places to sit and get our little ones ready to play. There are lots of cubbies for belongings and a section of pay to use lockers. Since our granddaughters are younger, we opted to go in with them and had a great time playing with them and watching them enjoy all the fun stuff available to them. The play section with all the balls was definitely a huge hit. You really have to shuffle/drag your feet along the floor to get thru the balls in your socked feet. So it's a little frustrating that there are shifts in the flooring that are only discovered when you stub your toes. Not pleasant. Our toddlers didn't have that issue because they largely chose to "swim" thru the balls. One of their favorite things was standing on the wall that divided the ginormous ball pit and the sponge pit and seeing who could jump the furthest into the sponge pit. They finally emerged sweaty and giggled out. There are way to many features to describe, and the girls enjoyed every bit of it. Surprisingly, everything seemed clean and it was a bright and cheery atmosphere. There is even a small play section for infants and small toddlers. Slides, swings, trampolines, climbing wall...they've got it all. I would vote this place one of Indy's best playscapes, easily. We will definitely be back. read more

We visited on Easter Sunday and we LOVED it! An Easter egg hunt begin as soon as we walked in. The place is simply amazing, and loaded with so many things to do. We will certainly be back. The only thing we didn't like was that my 6 year old was yelled at by one of the younger staff members to not sit on top of the monkey bars. We were shocked because she yelled all the way from the yellow trampoline. I mean she had been hanging from it and all other normal monkey bar play, but sitting on top was a no no. We've been to Smiley's 5 times in the last 3 months. My kids absolutely love it here. Usually once a week they are asking if we can go to the place with the blue and white balls! Smiley's is a huge indoor play area. It is in the same plaza where Monkey Joe's used to be. Definitely needed for the area...one can only go to Chuck E Cheese and Dave and Busters so many times! Smiley's adds a nice variety of activities to the Castle ton area. Upon entering your general admission gets you the ball pit play area, an ocean world, and further down the building, some interactive games and an interesting foamy pit the kids love! There's also a virtual reality gaming area for a separate fee. I've not done this area since my kids are 2 and 4. There is also a tiny tots play area for 2 and under. Although, bigger kids find their way in there. I wouldn't come without a Groupon. I've always been able to use a Groupon and cut the price in half. Otherwise you are spending 20 to 30 dollars a child potentially. The issue that stops this facility from being 5 star is security. The kids are so excited and moving constantly. If you come with multiple children, it's hard to keep track of them all because there are so many fun things to do! There's no security or arm band checks for exiting and I worry some predator could seize the opportunity once seeing the flaws in child safety. I'd bring an even adult to kid ratio to keep track of each child if you can. Or come when it is not crowded, like during early weekdays. FYI they are closed Tuesdays for cleaning. read more

Looking to take a break inside from the cold?! Smiley Indy is an indoor play land + arcade. Picture a giant ball pit with more square footage than the average family home and in that ball pit there are slides, teeter totters, and spinny-go-round things. It looks like somewhere Blippi would hang out! There is also an area for younger kids, an arcade, VR pods, a lego room, and a snack stand. The amount of fun is endless and it's a great spot to wear your kids out in the Castleton area. Would highly recommend for a spot to hang out with kids when they can't be outside. My first time there. It was very chaotic but all of the kids were having a good time. I was impressed that they kept the place clean. I seen the vacuum going throughout the entire time we were there for a party. The food was good. The staff was very friendly. I was shocked after entering how big this place really is. They have a jump area but I like that it really is meant for kids elementary aged and younger. The trampoline area isn't this huge area you have to worry about your child getting trampled on by adults and teenagers. I also really loved the kiddie area, our kids 4-5 in age loved the ball shooting and slide & the littlest one got to play too. Everything in the area is padded and soft. Then they have an arcade and a rice play area and ball pit play area. It's great if you want to take your kids somewhere that aren't that big and don't want to get in with them. I took my granddaughter for the first time today. She had fun of course, she is 20 months old. When we checked in the lady asked if it was my first time and I told her it was. There was no direction for anything. Handed me our wrist bands and we were on our way. I struggled carrying my purse across my shoulder and maneuver with my 20 month old granddaughter. Later my daughter asked why I didn't use the lockers. Had no idea and didn't see any, it was my first time. Took my granddaughter to the bathroom with a diaper bag and it was so tight. I would think a venue like this, they would have thought about people with little ones and diaper bags. Be prepared. I guess even firat time, you need to ask them questions because them being helpful with information will not happen. read more

This place is awesome, but I have read the other reviews and can understand why some people might have problems with it. I think it helps to come prepared knowing a few things: 1. Look on Groupon for discount tickets. I snagged two tickets for two hours of play time for $18. Otherwise, it probably would have been about $60. I had to buy the Smiley branded socks for an extra $3 per child, but we won't have to pay for them again unless we forget them. Adults do not have to pay admission unless they will be entering the play area with their kids. 2. Arrive early! I thought I was being clever by pulling into the parking lot 15 minutes before they opened. Nope. There were already two other families who beat me to it. I had gotten there 15 minutes early and I was third in line! This place is very popular, and especially right now while they have Groupon discounts. The line was out the door and didn't let up for about two hours. You will be waiting in line for a while just to get it, so exercise patience. 3. To save some time, fill out the waiver online. Otherwise, you will have to fill it out on paper, and you will take up time, and everyone behind you will hate you. I think these are the three main things to keep in mind to help get you and your kids in the door quickly and efficiently. Once you're inside, it's like kiddy heaven. There are so many fun things to do, and not just the giant ball pit. There is a trampoline basketball area, an area for children 2 years and younger with play houses and a small playground. We were so content playing in the ball pit, that we almost missed the entire back area where there are even more fun things to do. This area is a little quieter (maybe because some people don't realize it's there?) with little tables for kids to play with Lego blocks, a giant Connect Four game, a smaller ball pit with interactive games projected on the wall that kids can throw balls at, a rice pit with digger trucks, and lots more. We couldn't decide which area we enjoyed more. Also, back here is where adults will find massage chairs that you can pay to use. Everything is surprisingly clean and well maintained, even the bathrooms. The bathrooms are designed for little kids, too, with little sinks that kids can reach and small urinals. There are hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the facility, as well as signs reminding parents to take their children to the bathroom before they play to avoid accidents in the play area! I probably would have given Smiley five stars, except that the cafe area was super slow. They do not allow outside food and drink, so we had to purchase food once our kids got hungry. It took about 20 minutes to get our slice of pizza and hot dog, which cut into our playing time (you only get a certain amount of playing time, so every minute counts). This slowness could have been because they seemed to be understaffed. There was only one person at the cafe counter, and their menu is ridiculously huge, so you have one girl scrambling around trying to make customized coffee drinks, boba beverages, warm up mac and cheese, fry Oreos, ladle nacho sauce into cups, and make ice cream (yes, they even have Cold Stone-type ice cream where someone has to pour cream and MAKE rolled ice cream). I like the idea of an expansive menu, but it just doesn't make sense at a place like this, where people are not coming for the food. Plus, the cafe was closed for the first 30 to 45 minutes that the place was open, so we had to wait to buy anything. If they are going to provide such a big menu, they really need to get more people hired to accommodate it. Otherwise, though, we had a great time at Smiley! read more

So this place is pretty fun! It's very creative. It's costly but you do get your money's worth. We usually get 2-hours of playtime which is just enough to put your tiny ones in a small coma on the way home #yourwelcome! Smiley has a lot of activities and it's surprisingly very clean! Like shockingly. I also love that they have slippers for the bathrooms considering you have to use their socks around the building. Also they have a food and snack bar! So convenient - like really, they thought of everything. The only thing I would say is the sign in process can take a little time - so be prepared to wait when you first go. We had a birthday party for one of our children here last weekend. We had another birthday party about 3 years ago and had a great experience. Because of our great experience a few years ago, we returned. Unfortunately, there have been some dramatic changes to this business and we had an awful experience. I never leave reviews and feel like other parents looking for a fun experience for their children should know that I can not in good conscience recommend this place to anyone for a party...and I would think twice about whether to bring your child here to play. The play place aspect was *fine*, but there are quite a few spots that cannot be seen from the observation areas. It is impossible to monitor the children while you are there and staff monitors are non existent. I had one of my daughters get pushed around by some older boys while I was busy trying to watch the party attendees. The rest of the facility is cluttered with junk, employee take out containers, random jackets, cleaning supplies, etc. There was a woman sweeping the floor, but overall the place was dirty and smelled like w***. The worst part were the employees. We had registered for this party online 2 months in advance. Starting at 2 weeks prior to the party, I tried to call to confirm numbers and other arrival details. I called no less than 2 dozen times to the two numbers listed on their website and finally received a call back the day of the party. We had one neutral interaction upon check-in, but then every other interaction was substandard or downright rude. The party attendants were overly casual and used the small tables outside of our room as their break room. We had half a dozen employees sitting, chatting, eating, and watching videos/social media loudly on their phones right outside of our party room. It was uncomfortable for us to walk back and forth from our room. Not to mention several of them smelled like w***. We also asked for refills on some drinks, asked questions about our pizza order, and had to ask for a bandaid for a child who stubbed her toe and each time we were met with the most unprofessional and annoyed attitude from the woman who seemed to be in charge. Finally, we had the room booked for 2 hours, but about 10 minutes prior to the end of the party while our parents were coming to pick up and kids were getting their shoes on, this woman and another attendant started tearing things down and sweeping. When I made it clear that our party wasn't over and I would like them to wait until our kids had left, they rudely responded that they could not do that and continued anyway. To be clear, we were cleaning up and were on track to vacate the room by the scheduled time and yet they made us feel completely uncomfortable. After we packed our things into the car, I walked back in to speak with management about my concerns. I was pointed to a man who was blatantly looking at social media and when I began to talk to him, he couldn't even look me in the eye. He literally said nothing. It was the most bizarre interaction and obviously he could care less. It is not cheap to host a party here and for the lack of service, lack of cleanliness, and lack of safety for your children... I would NOT consider this business for your children's party or even a day out. read more

Nothing brings you comfort like a freshly printed "no weapons allowed" sign slapped on the door of kids playground. I was willing to overlook the alarming scrawl, after all I was walking into a land armed with nature's weapons (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa). If you are expecting cleanliness...forget about it! If you expecting safety...forget about it! If you are expecting a no hold barred, free for all complete with dirty diapers and sticky grubby paws....this is your jam! This place is like a scene from Bebe's kid's without the hilarity and charm. I'm not a stick in the mud, nor a neat freak (As a matter of fact when I once got freaky in the mud at Woodstock 99. I'm all for fun, but I have seen more order and manners in a powerman 5000 mosh pit. There are two types of guardians at this place. 1. A responsible adult who follows their child through the sticky nooks and icky cranny and ensures their child is following simple social norms and participating in age appropriate activities. 2. An Indianapolis sweat-hog who plays candy crush on their IPhone while their child(ren) run a muck (usually up the slides) and activity break social and age appropriate norms for shits and giggles. My 19 month old was playing in the under 4 area when a particularly rambunctious 11 year old ran through her like Tony Dorsett to take a selfie on the baby merry-go-round. When he realized the rest of his cronies were not with him, he scampered off (jumping the fence with the exit steps away). Kids are going to be kids. You give them an inch, they take a mile. You give them freedom in the ball pit, they urinate in it. You can't blame the kids here and in all honesty you can't blame lazy, ignorant parents. So who is to blame? Why Smiley's is of course. There is a reason why you don't see this type of behavior at The children's museum, public pools, schools or family theme parks. These places have the same rules and regulation as Smiley's, however they have hired and trained the adequate staff and personal to support said rules and regulations. The lack of staff is alarming itself, but the absence of staff engagement is appalling. I didn't see staff interact with children (blatantly breaking rules or otherwise) once. The only engagement we had with staff was when they snipped our wrist band when we left (even then no words were exchanged). Hell ,the layout itself encourages a lack of parental investment in their child's behavior. That's right, they even have massage chairs near the entrance for parents to ooze into and relax (far from the nucleus of the play area). What really gets my goat is the lack of restroom availability. There are two men's restrooms in the whole place, each armed with one single seater stahl. What does that mean for you? I don't know, but for me it meant having to hold my bulbous mud pies until we ate at the Olive Garden immediately after. read more

Really 3.5 stars if possible. We live about three hours away from Smiley but we have Ben here twice. I have a five year old daughter who is full of energy and is autistic. She loves having the ability to run, jump, play, and laugh. Smiley is so much fun! The prices during the week are decent but the weekend is very expensive when compared to similar places in other locations (ie: Laugh Out Loud Kids Club in Las Vegas). LOL is $8 for all day play on Wednesdays. There's currently a good deal on Groupon! I think Smiley has been open for over a year now (or close to it?) but by the looks of the place, you would think it's been much longer. The area is super clean, the employees are kind, but the equipment is already covered in tape and the slides aren't very smooth. The slide going into the ball pit is covered in black marks. We will more than likely be back because it's the closest "big ball pit" to us, but I hope they get new slides! read more

Sooooooooo let's start by saying this place is awesome! I always thought it was a dentist office ! Went for a kids birthday. It's so much for kids 10 and under to do! There is also a cool gameroom and don't get me started on their concession! His the have whole crab broils, wings and so much more. I was very empressed! If you have littles you need to visit! My oldest is 6 and youngest is almost 2. They both (and the middle kiddo) love it! They've got a designated "4 & under" play area which isn't super closely monitored from what I've seen. But it is def less interesting to the older kids so naturally it's a bit more empty. Parents can get in for free to help kiddos 2 & under. Be prepared to buy the specific socks they provide and also sign a waiver at check in. But it's so worth the money especially when you check out the coupons on Groupon! I've never gone without one (they've always got deals going). They've got a food court (I'd recommend Smiley's Rice or the chicken tenders) & arcade in addition to 5 different play areas. There is SO much to do. It's decently clean (for an indoor play place). Highly recommend if you need to get your kids out for a fun afternoon. read more

Great place to visit when the little kids need to get energy out. I gave Smiley's a 4 out of 5 because I don't think a parent should have to pay to get in, pay for the socks sure but I don't think they should have to pay to chase after their toddler. However, that won't keep us from going back. Just something for them to consider. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. I like that it is geared toward the smaller kids. There is a large ball pit with things to climb on, things to put balls in and shoot them in the air, there is a large foam pit with a climbing wall, as well as some monkey bars. There is a large slide that has foam stairs and it ends in the ball pit. There is also some tunnels and things for kids to crawl through. I liked that the opening was large enough that I could crouch down and walk through when I had to go get my child instead of having to crawl on my hands and knees. I read many reviews about this place, most of them complained about the manager being rude! They were absolutely correct! Parents, both, are able to accompany their children but my oldest was not allowed to "accompany" my youngest. The manager had the audacity to come and say something to us. Parents were going down slides, throwing the balls at each other etc. We will never be back and will make sure everyone we knows is aware of our experience. read more
