The staff is always friendly and super helpful. They offer beer, wine, cocktails, and a pretty solid menu to choose from. There are tons of games, but of course, I always end up spending most of my time at my favorite. Another thing I extremely appreciate is that they have wipe stations throughout, so you can clean off the games if you'd like. First time here and I know it was an arcade bar, but it a VERY serious arcade bar. I love how they have a good variation of old school manual arcade games all the way up to modern virtual games. We didn't bring any change or plan on spending money for the games. We will have to plan accordingly for our next visit! This is easily the best Barcade I have ever been to. Why? THE GAMES ARE FREE. I REPEAT: THE GAMES ARE FREE! Furthermore, the games are from all errors everything from classic early 80s arcade cabinets to light gun games to modern consoles. The only requirement for you to have free to play games for as long as you want is that you must be buying beverages... I guess it's kind of like a strip club in that way. Lucky for you the beverages they have on tap or incredible. They had lots of great beers, including a cold IPA. And even if you don't drink (ethanol), they have lots of nonalcoholic options. Went to tappers on a cold night only to see that it was closed for a private party. Epic idea for others. Lol They were only closed for another 30 minutes so I went to the Mexican restaurant next door for a drink then came back to Tappers. Tappers is free - except for their pinball. Not a problem. They just ask that you buy a drink for cover charge. They had a great selection of draft beers, bottles, cocktails, and more. Staff apologized that we came by earlier when they were closed, but it was no problem. Great staff, great selection of machines, NBA jam, n64, and some new machines too. Overall awesome experience. Service Last night me and my girlfriend went to the arcade everything was fine when we walked in Until later on when we were playing our last game before we left, an employee greeted us at a game asking for us to buy a drink and we told him that we were just about to leave and he told my girlfriend and I that "If you are not going to buy a drink I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave" very aggressively ,that employee was very rude and disrespectful towards customers when were there. With that being said, we are not coming here again. It was pretty surprising that we received the treatment, because this was our second time here, we were not explained what the rules were when we were first there. When we came in last night, the employee who greeted us didn't really explain the rules to us, we did not know that you had to buy a drink or buy something, no one pushed that on us when we were there last time. Not only that, the employee who had mid length blonde/ auburn hair and long tattoos on his arms ( which is the one that greeted us) didn't even offer us to buy anything in the first place when we first came in. We spent our time playing games in the back and the employee didn't even approach us until we were on our last game. There was a lack of communication for we do not know the rules of the place, no one really explained it to us when we first came in. Not only that we said we were leaving, and the employee grabbed the menu from us slammed on the table, aggressively saying we should leave " cause you can't come here if you're not buying anything". We also felt unsettled and unsafe, too for that employee was staring at us and giving us a death glare, which made us feel threatened. we're not recommend coming here because if you do, you're probably gonna be treated with hostility and aggression by employees who don't bother to share their rules with you, before you get settled in. Until management does something about this to resolve this issue with their employees, don't go here, because you're going to receive poor and hostile customer service. read more

I can't believe I haven't done a review at Tappers! I've been coming here some I moved to Indy 5 years ago. What keeps me coming back is the great hospitality, the awesome events, and of course free games! Tappers is always throwing themed events with my favorite being their annual Halloween party. But they also have weekly trivia that's super fun. They have rotating drafts, a great cocktail list, and free games and awesome pinball machines. Tappers is a great value, has a fun atmosphere, and offers a great variety of games. There has seemed to be a diverse age range of customers when we've visited too, which was fun. It can be difficult to find parking on busy nights--while we got lucky with a close spot on our last visit on a Friday evening, our friends had to search for a while and walk a bit. Games are free with the purchase of a drink, and I appreciate all the games have little tables to set your drinks while playing. I'd love to see more NA options on the menu in the future. read more

The place is super cool! I was surprised they had a smash bros setup but also they have other consoles too. It's just a straight up bar though. I have heard about this place for many years. I finally got visit it this weekend. I was blown away. There are SO MANY retro arcade games to play, and the best part is that the games are free to play!!!!!! We spent about 3 hours there and only played maybe 10% of the arcade games. I can not wait to go back and play more!!!! The music was great, the drinks were good. Craft beer, domestic beer, mixed drinks, and cocktails available. There was hand sanitizer everywhere, which was comforting. There were also coat racks throughout the establishment, which were all being used. They always have a cider on tap, plus wines and other drinks, which is nice for those of us who don't drink beer. My one complaint is that they serve the "slushy" style frozen drinks in resealable (so, I think, reusable) sturdy plastic bag deals, yet they pitch them in the trash when you are done. Drinks are a tad bit more expensive than other bars; but hey, you get unlimited bar play. Flyers show that there are frequently gaming tournaments, and a high score board updated with the initials of the gamer. People of all ages and walks of life (again 21+, they ID at the door) were out making memories on a snowy Saturday night. We had to wait maybe 5 minutes to enter the bar, since they were at capacity. The wait was virtually nothing, and we all agreed that we appreciated they keep track so all of the games weren't over crowded. I was looking for a fun bar for my boyfriend and I to check out before an event downtown and found 16-Bit near the venue. However I asked a bartender at the Inferno Room for a fun place to go and he highly recommended Tappers for an arcade bar. It was close so we stopped in. I'm so glad we did because we ended up having a blast! The bar is big and all the games are free (except for pinball)! The bar was serving up some local beer and they also had some adult slushy drinks that looked fun. I was happy with a nice sour beer and the bartender let me sample a couple before I made my choice. The games that I played were all in good condition and working well. The interior is clean and modern. They have 60+ arcade games plus 25 pinball machines! They also have Nintendo Switch and some other modern console games. It wasn't too crowded when we were there, which was nice. I could see it getting pretty busy. They do not allow minors in but you can bring in outside food according to their website. I loved this place and would definitely go back again the next time I'm in town. read more

They do check IDs when you walk in and you have to purchase an item (coke, beer, cocktail) to play. Pinball costs $0.50-$1, but everything else is free of charge. There are very rarely (maybe even never) any games that are broken or down, so they are great at their upkeep. I love a good barcade. I haven't been to the Indy 16-bit location, but I was excited to get to try out the Indy-classic, Tappers. This reminded a lot of the Columbus location of 16-bit, just a little bigger. I didn't have any fancy-pants cocktails during this visit, but the simple well drinks I had were well-made. There was a large variety of classic games along with some new console systems up front. On a busy night, the consoles up front were a little bit harder to snag. There's also a plethora of pinball machines in the back, though you'll need to have some quarters to play pinball. We played our way around the room and enjoyed some drinks. The staff were friendly and fast to refill drinks at the bar. I'll definitely be back the next time I want to do some gaming in Indy! read more
