I love this place. Any excuse to play arcade games with others or just by myself is a 10/10 for me. And the games are free!! It doesn't get much better than that. There are arcade machines, pinball, consoles, and more. They have the classics as well as some newer games. The drinks may be a little pricier but I think it's worth it to get to hang out and play games for as long as you want. Plus, all of the workers are very friendly. I haven't had to wait long for drinks or to get on a game while here. Most people know when to stop, which is nice. It's also cool getting to play some of the console games with absolute strangers. Tapper's Arcade Bar is a fun place to play old school video games and drink beer. My friends and I came here after watching a disappointing Colts game to unwind and have a beer. The beer list was decent and they had a nice cocktail list as well. The selection of old school video games and new modern video games was good, but several of the games did not work at all, and the staff did not seem to know what the issue was to fix the games. We still enjoyed the games that we did play and had a good beer as well. I felt this place is holding on strong due to the pandemic, because I learned it did shut down for a while last year due to the pandemic and recently opened back up. It is run down and barely surviving from what I can tell, so I do wish Tapper's Arcade Bar the best this year and hoping they can continue to stay in business for the new year. As a kid I grew up playing all kinds of video games. I remember going into the arcade (was usually in a mall), then putting my quarter up, showing I was in line to play the winner in that particular game. Sometimes, we would all go to one of our friends homes and just play games for hours. The games back then were old school type games (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Pac-Man, Ninja Turtles, etc.). Well, I'm happy to say that Tappers has these same games!! The only difference between back when I was a kid and now, is that I GET TO DRINK ALL THOSE DELICIOUS BEERS THEY HAVE!!! Oh, you never heard of that beer? No problem, staff offer free samples if your unsure of what you want. Beers get rotated on a regular basis too. So, no complaints in the alcohol department lol.. Tappers is located next to some of the greatest restaurants in town too, so I usually catch myself there after dinner with a date who usually ends up angry that I'm whoopin' her butt in the games! Oh, and they've recently expanded their facility. It's basically double the size it was a year ago with a lot more games to choose from. If your SUPER competitive, I'd recommend checking out their schedule for upcoming challenges versus other players, which happens weekly. I've never been to one yet, but when I see a game I like, you can bet I'll be in there with the quickness. Parking is decent. There are houses across the street you can park at without getting towed/having to pay at a meter..the 2-3 minute walk is definitely worth it...gives the "loser" in your group time to cool off lol. read more

Okay, so I really like this place. I mean, what's not to like. Beer? Arcade Games? Nope.. I love them both. Put both of them together and it's a magical place. I mean, I didn't think Ms. Pac Man would get any better than at the Skate Corral when I was younger, but replace the roller skates with a pint and I'm there. Pretty cool place. The staff is amazing. A few games to play but that's all. There is a room down stairs with emulators and consoles. The downstairs is weird as there is a basement to your left with nothing but old and useless junk. The console room is weird as well as it seems to attract some weird individuals. I have heard a lot about this place and finally got the chance to check it out for myself! If you haven't had the chance, you have to make time; it is so much fun!! Before I knew it, hours had gone by....and I still felt I could have stayed longer. Even if you are not a "gamer", there is something at this arcade for you to engage with! They have many beers to choose from, but I learned that they just recently expanded their menu to start serving cocktails, which are delicious!! The bartender also mentioned that they are looking to expand their menu even more, so that's exciting. I had their "Dream A Little Dream" cocktail, which is a frozen dreamsicle drink served in a pouch with a bendy straw; it was so fun and delicious!! I also had the "This Sh!t is Bananas" banana daiquiri, which was outstanding. It was like a banana margarita, if you can imagine what that might be like! The bar area, tables surrounding the bar, the floors, the games, and the bathroom are all kept very clean! I was impressed. As far as the video games and atmosphere do this place AWESOME! My husband would have stayed there all night if we could. It's easy to get lost in all of the throwback games from when we were kids. The the slushy pouches were really good too! I got The cherry coke one. It had alcohol in it - I believe whiskey. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because we tried this pepperoni and cheese panini/calzone type thing and it was the WORST THING EVER! Literally just threw some cheese, meat on some bread and called it a day. No seasoning on anything whatsoever. Some marinara may have salvaged it but even then....it was that awful. My husband and brother and law even tried it and agreed. And my husband will eat ANYTHING! do not order it. Even just to see if I'm exaggerating, you will be pissed LOL. It's such a cool place to go to hang out, especially if you are a video gamer and you want to reminisce. I love the fact that it's so carefree in here. I regularly travel all across the country for my current job. That being said I've been to plenty of arcade/bars. I'm also from the Philadelphia area which is home to the original Barcade, I've been to a few of those in New York, and along with all of the bar/arcades that I've visited around the country I have to state that this one absolutely stands out. There was one near Miami Florida that has probably the best niche Japanese selection of games I've ever seen, but this place in Indy stands out as having the best cared for machines. And since it's a place that also does have a great selection, the fact that everything works SO well is nothing short of amazing. The litmus test for me was Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, this amazing game was one of my absolute favorites as a youth, but I gotta say, until I had gone to Tappers, I was certain that actually enjoying the game "as it was in it's day" was something I would never again be able to do. At Tappers the joy stick on this game was ACTUALLY accurate, smooth, and responsive! And I gotta stress, this game is everywhere, but this is the only place I'll go to play it. The mechanics here very clearly care about taking proper care of their hardware. I was there on a weekday and got acquainted with one of the staff members who has been there from the start of the business. Adrian(sorry if I'm spelling your name wrong dude ha ha). But yea, hanging and talking games, and all sorts of other stuff was great, it was like just hanging out with a friend. I enjoy beer, but it's not something I would call myself a sommelier of, so from my layman's perspective the drinks were fine. I love the concept of having a space where you can relive your childhood/teendom/adult years with arcade games from the 70's 80's and 90's. There's the full range from Street Fighter to Frogger, Michael Jackson to Paperboy. The best part is, they're all FREE! Tappers arcade upgrades from the arcades we remember. For one thing the smell of unwashed teenage flesh, locked within the merciless throes of puberty is absent. But also, ALSO - there's a bar right in the center of the space with all kind of craft, local, and standard beer on tap. Total win for the beer-lover! I definitely recommend giving Tappers a visit. Tappers was the first arcade I went to in Indy and I loved it, and now I have been back after the addition and an delighted by the many more games! It has a retro vibe And it's a smaller kind of nook-ish space, but this only makes it FEEL more like the arcade of times gone past! AND the new areas just continue that feeling with a pinball Haven or heaven lol to boot. They also have a few food choices like a pretzel dog, and yes it's yummmm even with no condiments. Maybe a bit hefty in price for a dog, but tastier than some hot dog places so I'm not complaining. Also, the games (other than pinball $1) are free, but I kind of expect some kind of check and balance in the drinks and food costs. We stayed about 2 blocks from this cute Arcade bar on Friday night so we had to check it out! The atmosphere is cool and the bartenders were super friendly. The bar is fairly large in the center of the main room. They have a full bar selection including decent wine. The most fun drinks were frozen ones that come in an adult sized juice pouch. We ordered the one that tastes like Fruity Pebbles and it was very good! I was happy that it wasn't overly sweet. They also have bar snacks and we tried some sweet and spicy chips. With the exception of Pinball , the games are all free. That is so nice! it doesn't matter if you lose right away playing something because you can just try again without wasting money. I wish all arcade type bar did it this way. They had all of the old school games like Donkey Kong, Pac Man, Space Invaders and more.
