I wonder if it's a franchise layout thing, but there's absolutely no signage directing you to the ordering counter. Upon entering, you just see a half wall that's blank. Came here to pick up lunch on a Friday around noon. We ordered ahead and just picked up. Really like that they tape the bag and drink shut so if you use a delivery service you can help prevent any mishandling. Burger quality is similar to other smash burgers of its chain. I'd consider it a higher quality fast food burger. The patties are still meaty, buns hold the shape and don't get super soggy. The vegetables seem fresh and have taste. We also got an Oreo milkshake. It was a solid milkshake. Mixed well. I personally love Oreo and wouldn't have minded more of an Oreo flavor. But this is still pretty good. Absolutely delicious and scrumdiddlyummmm. The tater tots and fries are seasoned to perfection along with the burger. Our food was quick to arrive to the table and they have a decent selection of drinks (including apple juice, chocolate and white milk). The dude taking the order prefaces it with " it will be about 25 minutes you will have to wait for your food" and he brought the food out in about 25 minutes. That seemed excessive for a fast foodish burger place but it is what it is. I had the mushroom truffle burger which was ok a tad on the greasy side but really nothing special. Smashburger had adversited a promo to honor our veterans on Veteran's Day but really dropped the ball on execution. The advertised promo was a free smashburger for all veterans. I had an emil (I'm in their frequent eater's club) offering a free smashburger for the veteran AND their spouse. My wife and I went in shortly after 1p - thinking we'd try to avoid the lunch rush. The lobby was crowded and the girl at the counter - without any sense of customer service - called out (more like yelled) - that there was currently a 30-45 wait for burgers. She didn't sound apologetic - just frustrated and stressed. In the 5 minutes that I was there - AT LEAST 6 VETERANS WALKED OUT. Offering a free burger to veterans on Veteran's Day is a nice gesture but if you can't actually "deliver on your offer" it would be better to not make the offer in the first place. I'm a big Smashburger fan and this failed promo left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I'd had my eye on this for awhile. I was going to go when they opened, and another time when they had a special deal, but the lines were crazy. Today Mom wanted a burger and I remembered this. Large dining area for use someday, nice counter to order and you could call ahead or order online. Plenty of room to wait off to the side. Good cleanliness practices. There are lots of options, protein-wise but also in terms of toppings, cheese, sides, etc. Mom got a single, I got a double, and we shared fries. The rosemary-olive oil fries are awesome. Don't share- get enough for everybody. The burgers are very good. To me, better than Five Guys, and definitely better than fast food for essentially the same price. Great, tasty, ample meat (on the double, anyway.) Great bun. Great toppings- even the tomatoes were good, unusual at a restaurant. A bit messy, so I'm glad I ate it right away rather than saving it for lunch at work. Mom loved hers. We'll be back. Christian, the dude who took our order loaded us with more information than the topping of an In&Out animal style fry. Def did right by the customer service side of things. Can't go wrong with their fries, they're always good! And of course a drink of your choice. I even asked for pickles on the side. These pickles are AMAZING. I haven't had a Smash Burger in a while so I stopped in on my way to work. Ordered a double truffle mushroom & Swiss with onions, and of course smashed fries. Not bad for $14 from a real hamburger place, and a lot closer than Five Guys. Pics to come as it's brought out. The mushrooms just melt in your mouth as you bite into this masterpiece. I usually complain heavily about anyplace that would put weights on a burger as it's cooking, but these guys are the one exception to that nitpick. They always manage to get it right. The smashed fries need no condiments as they are brushed with homemade olive oil and garlic aoli (SP). Simply delicious all around! read more

Once upon a time there were three Smashburger restaurants in the greater Columbus, Ohio area. The Westerville location is the sole location still open. We decided to visit on September 18, 2022 as it was National Cheeseburger Day and Smashburger was offering a buy one, get one free special. We arrived to a lot of people waiting for pickup orders but didn't have to wait as there wasn't anyone waiting to order for dine-in. The young lady taking our order told us it would be about a 20-25 minute wait due to it being National Cheeseburger Day. Not a problem, we were not in any hurry. We placed our order and got a table. Our food arrived within 10 minutes, hot fresh, and perfectly prepared exactly as ordered. The other great thing about Smashburger is they offer a gluten free bun. As I can't have wheat products, the gluten free bun is a must. It's a nominal $2.00 upcharge, but well worth it to have the option of being able to enjoy a good burger. Additionally, this isn't a much more than buying a package of gluten free buns at the store. In my area they sell for $4.99 a package of four, so $1.25 a bun. To me a $2.00 upcharge is reasonable. I have to compliment the staff. They were running at full speed fulfilling the massive amount of carryout, Door Dash, and Uber Eats orders. However, they didn't let that deter them from giving us excellent service. I highly recommend visiting Smashburger in Westerville. As for the attached photo, the burger was better looking when they brought it to me, but I added a little ketchup and mustard, so not as good looking. For starters, this is my second time here but the firist time I came I had ordered online and simply picked it up. I must say these burgers are what burgers are supposed to be! Big, juicy, and full of amazing flavor! And the shakes are to die for!! They are worth every penny! My preferred order is a classic single with cheese, plain, with a side of Brussels sprouts and a strawberry shake. Very simple kind of gal but I always feel so special when I come here. Lindsay and Julian are such wonderful people, they go out of their way to chat with you and make you feel like you are VIP! Not normal for most burger joints... We have driven from one end of Westerville to the other, to shop and to eat, having seen the name of this restaurant many times. But, we didn't know that the name was more expository than I could have imagined. But, today would change that. On our way from my wife's PT at the northern edge of Westerville toward the freeway and home, we talked about where we could eat in route. After looking to Yelp as our guide, an unfamiliar but inviting restaurant popped up - SmashBurger. Away from the big mall department stores in the back of this Westerville shopping area and tucked into the front strip mall area on State St. is Smashburger. Although it was mid-afternoon the place was not very busy. From the entrance, we wrapped around the inside wall, while viewing enticingly delicious posters of the food choices until we arrived to where we could order our food. We told Lindsay that this was our first time here and she warmly welcomed us and explained the menu and the ordering process. My eyes were attracted immediately to their big burgers as she told us how they prepared their burgers to order, specialized in delicious SmashFries, although these only bear the name of the restaurant, rather than actually being smashed, she told us these aromatic, tasty fries have a light drizzle of their own mix of oregano, garlic and olive oil. Then my eyes caught the giant pictures of their milkshakes, made with Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Well, with that bit of information, we were ready to order. Lindsay told us, since this was our first time here, we could have free fountain drinks and would not need to clear our own table after we'd eaten. I still opted for the Vanilla Häagen-Dazs milkshake with a side soda, and we both ordered a Double-Smashburger with bacon and the oregano fries. We were guided to a table and without much wait, our food was brought out from the kitchen; piping hot, but my eyes were glued to the creamy, whip-cream topped milkshake. I decided to delay the desire to forge ahead into the milkshake in favor of the sandwich and fries. The double-bacon Smashburger was delicious; crunchy edges with delicious, juice meat on the inside. The condiments I ordered were all present and in the correct, manageable proportions. The fries were crispy and as advertised, aromatic, tempting, and flavorful. Finally, I was able to dive into my milkshake. Not only is this ice cream one of the more delicious brands, but they served all of my milk shake to me. In other words, they didn't just pour the blended milkshake into a glass, but they brought any of the milkshake that was left in the mixing container to me so that I could enjoy the full Häagen-Dazs experience. I can't remember anyplace where that has been done before. Not only was Lindsay attentive to us as we ate, but she went out of her way to treat us as special customers. I was wearing a big, ugly, but necessary floppy hat that helped cover my face while being treated by my dermatologist for cancerous lesions she found. I briefly asked Lindsay if we could be seated in a area with less brilliant lighting and explained that I have to apply a topical chemotherapy cream to my face, which makes my face extremely sensitive to the sun's rays and I have to be careful of any harsh, intense indoor lighting, to include the lit screens from my tablet and phone. There were only a handful of people still eating on the far side of the room when our food was brought to us, we noticed that Lindsay, without saying a word to either of us, walked over to the window screen that was up and allowed the full sun to shine through on us, and lowered the window screen to block the rays from hitting me fully. After doing so, she started to walk back to her work station and I stopped her and thanked her for helping me and increasing my comfort while eating. Not only was the food different and unique, but Smashburger restaurant, specifically Lindsay, went above and beyond the normal needs of customers. They cared! I spoke to the kitchen Chef, John, who told me how he and his crew come in very early to prep the food, to cook all their food to order. The meat is never from frozen patties, but very lean Black Angus beef which allows them to provide their signature thin Smashburger style of preparing their sandwiches. Then the beef is woven between two, lightly buttered toasted buns. The oregano and olive oil for their fries is prepared in-house as well. All-in-all, this was a 5-star dining experience, not just because the food was delicious, but because they treated us as VIP's and made our initial time here so rewarding. We will spread the word about Smashburger in Westerville and we will most definitely be back. read more

The Smashburger burgers are juicy and flavorful! You have a variety of toppings to choose from mayo to bacon to cheese and everything in between! Today's choice for me was the crispy chicken classic sandwich. It takes a little longer to cook but is worth the wait (about 10 minutes)! When they brought it to the table, I was amazed to see the size of the sandwich! The chicken breast was larger than the bun! It was topped with onion,tomato, mayo and lettuce. It was so crunchy! They also have a grilled version of the chicken sandwich. I also order onion strings that were also very flavorful. The service we have received here has always been wonderful! John, the manager, is always pleasant and has answered every question that we have asked! The restaurant is always clean and the restrooms are as well. Went in yesterday ordered meals to go. Was ignored for a few minutes then our order was taken. While waiting watched the cook with beard and long hair take his hat off and then do a shake of his head like he was at a rock concert while preparing the food. Let's just say I'm a little grossed out and was fearful of having his hair all in my food. I ordered Brussels sprouts on the side and they are very good but were very greasy, also they didn't even fill the container. The girl with the dark hair and the fake thick eyelashes was to busy hanging on all the male staff and showing off instead of working. Stumbled across smash burger when looking for something to eat on Uber Eats. I was initially going to go with the burger, but when I made it to the chicken sandwiches they looked amazing, so I went with that instead. I ordered the Chicken Avocado Club with truffle Mayo and a side of fries. The fries were delicious-make sure to get the Smashfries! However the sandwich did not quite deliver. The chicken patty was very thin, and quite dry. There way WAY too much Mayo on the burger-I ended up having to take off my lettuce and tomato bc it was drenched in the sauce. When I bit into my BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger, I was surprised at how dry it was. When I lifted the top bun, there was no BBQ sauce at all; when I checked the underside, I couldn't believe how little sauce I saw; it looked like they literally put a whole 5 drops on my burger. I understand not wanting to put tons of condiments on your food, but when there's so little I can't even taste it, that's absolutely absurd. I shouldn't have to add BBQ sauce from my own fridge. This location is nestled right in a shopping center in Westerville. If you blink you might just miss it. I hadn't been to this location before and hadn't been to Smashburger in years. I had been wanting to visit one for a while again. They kept sending me emails and I never got around to it. Well finally the moment presented itself. The experience was not what I remembered. Perhaps it was because it was years ago and also in Houston. I enjoyed the idea of having my food being brought to me opposed to having to wait on my number being called. I was not expecting that. The food was not really that memorable, honestly. For the price I could have made it myself. Although my burger and fries were hot, the flavor was lacking.
