Love the service here! I couldn't decide what to get and the young lady at the register helped me with the menu. She was so knowledgeable about the menu and even offered to check what kind of fish they offered. The establishment is clean and very efficient since I only waited five minutes for my burger. I am a vegetarian/pescatarian and ordered the black bean burger. Not only was the burger not esthetically pleasing and falling apart but it also tasted horrible. This is somewhat concerning since now there are other alternatives such as the impossible burger that are easily available at other restaurant and fast food services. My fries were also disappointing since they were drenched in oil (not the pleasing amount fries should have) The reason why I still gave three stars is because there is major potential here and if you eat meat you might have better luck. I've been here a number of times and I personally have always had a great experience overall. The staff is friendly, food always tastes fresh & great, plus it's one of the cleanest restaurants in the area. One of the supervisors, Esmeralda(I believe she also goes by Esme), is great! I've been lucky that she's been the one who has taken the majority of my orders. She's pleasant to interact with and has had some solid suggestions/recommendations whenever I ask for input of custom orders. Smashburger is lucky to have someone like her in a leadership role. The only cons weren't really with my personal experiences there, but more so observations. While the general manger of this location has been nice to me during the few interactions I've had with her, I have noticed she is a bit condescending/rude to some of her staff. Almost bully like. It bothered me enough to mention it here, as I used to work in food service and she reminded me of the manager I had at the time. I understand how a manager like that can greatly hurt morale in the workplace. I hope it was just a one off thing. Also, parking in the area isn't the best. Especially during the lunch rush. It's not their fault, just a lot of business in the shopping center. I live within walking distance, so I've been fine. But you may want to plan accordingly if you are deciding on getting some Smashburger in person. Service was polite, fast and all that you could ask for from a fast food burger spot. Burgers were freshly made and absolutely hit the spot. I could really taste the truffle flavor in my truffle mushroom swiss burger and the single patty with fries was the perfect portion for me. The double smoked brisket with bacon is a bit overkill for my pallet but delicious as well. It was meat on top of meat on top of meat which meant the buns had a lot of heavy lifting to do. Unfortunately with all the sauce, meat juices and shear weight, the bottom bun didn't have a chance and was deteriorating with every bite. All our burgers were made wrong. My kids won't eat it, because kids like what they like. Mine was wrong missing pickle, onion, mustard, chose the burger and asked for the other things that didn't come with it added on. Comes with all these things and it still wasn't in it. What...??? We are in the road so we can't even go back without losing time. We wanted to stick with local food but decided to go quick and something we sort of know. Wrong choice. My family and I went to Monterey for fun and decided to grab Smashburger across the street from our hotel. I saw the reviews but ignored them because use the kids wanted burgers. My wife ordered an Avocado double with no bun. We got a double with no bun but also no avocado and no cheese. That was disappointing but worse than that is when we called 3x nobody answered. This was my first experience with Smashburger, it almost reminded me of Habit Burger, which is my favorite and if I had a Smashburger where I live, I would definitely come back. They were quick, the burgers were a good size and cooked to perfection, not skimpy on the bacon. The fries were great and we even got some brussel sprouts, which were not great to be honest, that was one downfall, they didn't have much flavor, they were cooked well, but just kind of bland, maybe didn't have enough seasoning or mixed up well, but everything else was great. read more

Would be zero. Ordered a Cobb salad. It arrived without the bacon and inedible greens. How is this acceptable. Photo attached. They don't answer their phone. No one available to resolve the issue. Drove to the restaurant to show them the salad. Spoke with the manager who was very rude. I told her the salad was inedible. She did not acknowledge what I was saying. She did not apologize. She accused me of being rude for supposedly throwing the bag I brought the salad back on the counter, I didn't do it. She said she couldn't hear me, I was in the main dining room and she was in the kitchen. So I moved closer and spoke louder and then she told me I didn't have to yell. This is one of the eateries near Century Marina Theaters and I came here with a friend for lunch after seeing Jumanji 2, which was hilarious by the way. There are Signature Burgers you can choose from or you can opt to Craft Your Own Burger, but that can get pretty pricey especially if you want a lot of toppings. There are also several options for meat: Regular beef, grilled chicken, crispy chicken, turkey, black bean, etc. The Monterey Bay Burger sounded really appetizing, as well as unique, consisting of artichoke pesto, grilled onions, tomato, spinach and mayo, but I was craving bacon and cheese, so ended up choosing the BBQ, Bacon and Cheddar Burger with crispy chicken. This burger also came with crispy haystack onions. I ordered the meal so it came with French fries and also got a peanut butter milkshake. After ordering, we were given a number, found a seat our food was brought to us when it was ready. My friend had gotten the Monterey Bay Burger and it looked delicious! I was a bit disappointed with mine because the chicken was a little tough and overall the combination of the crispy chicken and fried onions was quite dry. The fried onions were good though... Well seasoned. I did like the French fries a lot - They were skinny fries and wonderfully crispy and yummy. I loved the peanut butter milkshake, which which made with Reese's peanut butter sauce and came with whipped cream. The remainder of the milkshake that didn't fit in the cup was given to me in a silver container so it was a ton of milkshake, which was absolutely delicious! I want to be sensitive towards businesses and workers that have stepped up and actually worked during the covid pandemic but I have to be honest. This review has as much to do with their phone app as the food. As for the food. Cold fries. Overcooked burger. Seriously thin swiss cheese slice, why even bother? (I didn't think they put cheese on it so I looked and laughed out loud when I identified it) Tomato slice was tiny and the lettuce didn't look fresh. Onion was absent. Terrible overall. As for the app. Twice now the app failed us. A week ago we couldn't place an order on the app. We passed and had delicious PB&J at home. Today we placed an order and drove to the store. There is no tracking or way to know your order is ready. Forget calling from outside. If you call the store the recording gives a very long diatribe of options for purchasing and ordering along with appropriate covid warnings and store hours.... The recording goes on to say they're too busy to answer the phone. Except no customers were inside. Curbside service doesn't work if the app doesn't work and they won't answer the phone. The pics are - Smashburger's own representation of how much avocado should be provided, and also my personal experience of ordering avocado at this location when I ate in, and a photo I took of the $2 worth of avocado I received on my burger. Seriously. Whichever employee did this should be ashamed of themselves. It's not bad enough that CA prices at Smashburger for *everything* are at least 40% higher than most of the rest of the country, now when you pay those inflated prices you don't actually get what's advertised, or basically, any at all. I received about 25 cents worth of avocado. Most likely won't be back. The glow is totally off. read more

They now have plant based patties and dairy free shakes so I was excited to give it a try. I ordered this but the cashier said they didn't have dairy free shakes at the moment (that's pretty much the only thing I came for but alright I guess) ordered a plant based burger and and my boyfriend ordered a regular smash burger.
