This is sad because I use to really like this place. Food use to be good service was descent. Me and my wife went here for dinner tonight and the place was a disaster. A woman and younger boy where working up front and seemed to be trying there best. They were also nice. You could just tell that the management was terrible. Whoever is running things and in charge of organization is doing a bad job. Also chefs put little to know effort into the food. I have been months searching for a real burger only to be mislead to places like Freddy's, Golden Wheel Drive-In, Main Street Burger and Burger N Brew. They all suck, big time. If they aren't forcing you to use gobs of nasty "fry sauce" on your meal, they are serving up tasteless, defrosted something they call meat on a boring, stiff bun. Freddy's and the Golden Wheel can't even fake a burger since all you get is frozen patties in a bun without tomatoes, lettuce and onion. If the world was filled with 4 year olds, then these guys would be making the right kind of food. The Boise Fry Company is highly overrated and one must get a second home mortgage to afford eating there. If you like to take 5 minutes placing an order where you have to tell them 8-10 pieces of critical information from a list of 50 choices, then you are that same person who can't order your favorite Starbucks coffee in less than 25 words. We had some success with Pauly's Bar Room which serves some mean specialty burgers. The Dutch Goose provided a great burger, but they have closed for good. Hat's off to Beef O'Brady's for their build your own approach. Out of all of these places, they have the advantage of having full liquor bars where little ankle-biters are not seen nor heard. Behold the Smashburger. A no nonsense place where one can get a classic double cheeseburger with onion, tomato, lettuce and pickle for $7.30. The meat is greasy and of course, delicious. The sauce is nice, not overpowering. The staff is welcoming and polite. The burgers come out FAST and I mean FAST. The dining room is spotless with lots of COVID precautions for both the servers and the customers. Add a side of fries for $2.70 and you have a great American lunch or dinner. The fries are plain cut and loooonngg - not batter dipped (ugh), crinkled, shoestring or steak fries or any other bizarre mistreatment of the poor potato. They are perfectly fried. They are not served with some dummy forcing fry sauce on you, but rather they are automatically served with little packets of ketchup. Yay! My entire meal was properly seasoned and at the right temperature. Something that the "other" fast burger places fail at. Smashburger ya done good. Photos? Just came back from Smashburger and will never go there again. Our small order (two burgers, two fries, Brussels sprouts and a drink) took thirty minutes. We were late to an appointment. They screwed up by burger order which I saw on the receipt and at first they tried to explain that they were right but then the manager came out and approached me again about it and realized they had got it wrong. He came back to me two other times to clarify the burger order!! It was a single mushroom Swiss burger with lettuce instead of bun. I don't know I guess that was super complicated. They seemed to be working hard but just too damn slow. Then my burger was well done which is the worst. read more

We recently visited the smash burger on Franklin Avenue. It was quite a disappointment from what it had been in the past. The inside of the restaurant is starting to look very rundown and very dirty. If you walk up to the cashier to order you can see all kinds of stuff under, that workstation and the workstation that they put together the orders before they bring them to your table. It's very obvious that they don't sweep under there often at all. The wallpapers tearing off the wall in the booths. The staff looks just as rundown as the restaurant does. The food still tasted good however, it looks like it was thrown together instead of how it used to be nice and orderly. It just kind of makes you think of what the kitchen looks like back there. Should have known by no other patrons inside, place is dirty not just the glass, tables but even the floors sticky. Menu confusion tried to order 2 simple meals and didn't work. Employee tried to help and cashier said sorry my error. Then the manager came out and accused us of wanting free food? Very poor skilled manager could not make something simple happen. Requested refund for food paid for and not eaten. Was denied and offered free side. BTW poor cashier it was her 1st day and she was left alone, and after me explaining that I was trying to help the manager and the simple issue. Still would not offer a refund and said tell me how I an fix the problems? Please hire competent people to manage and train people, and brush-up on the cleaning skills. 5 people working and 2 people that actually knew their job and or tried. Possibly understaffed l. Nobody was at the counter for a good 20 minutes as I stood in line and it grew. After we ordered we waited another 15-20 minutes until we received our food. Food was underwhelming fries were stale, buns were stale, wings were not presentable at all! And to add to the experience a couple of the employees were having temper tantrums throwing things around in the kitchen and in the front as he was taking our order! Earlier this week, the Meridian Smashburger hosted a tasting party for Yelp members. Quarter-cut slices of seven different beef and chicken burgers were brought out over the course of the evening, along with a salad and potato fries, sweet potato fries, flash-fried green beens and carrots, fried pickles and Haystack onions. Everything was provided free of charge. I was impressed with the flavors, the quality of the food and the friendly service. Today, I went to the Boise store on my own dime to see how things compared. I was just as impressed. I ordered the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger -- my favorite from the tasting menu -- Smash fries (with olive oil, garlic and rosemary drizzled over them) and a pop. The slight char on the burger brings out extra flavor without tasting burned. The soft egg bun is fantastic. I don't completely care for the shoestring fries used in the Smash fries, I'd rather have them a bit more substantial, but I still enjoyed them. read more

Smashburger was the 7th stop on our Burgerpalooza tour (a quest for the best effing burger in B-town). Our group of burger enthusiasts was 14 strong this go round (happy to see some new Yelpy faces in the mix!). We gave this place an average of 3.85 stars, which, obviously, I rounded up to 4. Each member filled out a scorecard (some will also Yelp it--but we find if we immediately fill out score cards, it helps spark debate!). Smashburger scored highest in the categories of Quality and Freshness. Our group appreciated the quality ingredients that go into a Smashburger. The veggies are fresh. They use fresh, never frozen (Alleluia!!) beef. The beef is of high quality (juicy deliciousness, not overly fatty). Other things we loved: Having the option to add rosemary and garlic to your fries! The fact that they serve beer! The overall atmosphere of the place is nicer than your usual fast food burger joint. What sparked debate: Their buns are a little different. You have your choice of three different styles of artisan buns (classic egg, spicy chipotle, or multi-grain--OR you can opt for lettuce). Most of our group opted for the classic egg, which some found superior to other, more typical style buns, while others found them inferior. It seemed to be an either you really like it or you really don't sort of thing. The fries also sparked a little debate. They are VERY thin shoe string style. They are so thin that even one of the participants who prefers shoestring style, thought they were a skosh too skinny. There was also some complaint/debate about the saltiness of the burgers. Overall, however, our impression of the place was positive. The service we received was friendly and efficient. And, the fact that we were able to string together enough tables to accommodate our group of 14 was much appreciated! A solid 4 star experience! read more

I go to the Big Juds in Meridian off Eagle road. Every time I go their food is amazing! The staff is always really kind and prompt at seating us and serving us. Entered the restaurant and we were greeted right away. The staff took our order without delay. Our order was prepared quickly and staff delivered it to us. We went home and we're pleasantly surprised at the quality of the ingredients and the flavor of those ingredients. Avocado was very fresh and the burger was done perfectly. This location is terrible!!! My friends and I just went here for our work lunch and Kailey was our cashier and bag packer. She was extremely rude, she was eating French fries and making herself a drink instead of doing her job while tons of people were waiting for their food. Lol I had a craving for Smash and haven't visited in awhile, so it's time for an update review.. to see if they still deserve 4 stars. I am giving them 3 now for the lack of service and dropping food quality. The main reason people go to SMASH is for fresh made burgers and fries, they are usually consistent on getting them out hot and juicy. So let's get to the Review . .. -Food- I ordered my fav BBQ cheddar bacon burger and it was hot, juicy, and tasted just as I had hoped. The fries however were hot yet lacked any seasoning as SMASH fries should. It seemed like I was given remaining normal fries drizzled with some oil and rosemary. Cleanliness- GREAT Service- I am not sure if they were back there kneeling In protest but it took FOREVER to get your food. Don't get me wrong, it got made fast but with only one server/cashier that is all it did was SIT. I can't believe this rock star was left to serve a whole dining room, a line of customers, and pack up to go orders. I almost stepped in to help him since no one else would. I took pictures of the Growing orders that were done at the window, some people waited 20 mins before their food was served. It is clear they were understaffed but it was 30 mins until someone came from the back (a cook) and actually helped. This is unacceptable and it seemed the people in the line shared the same opinion. Word of advice, join the smash club! Good benefits to it! I went with a BBQ Bacon burger with a huckleberry milkshake and both were very good! My wife went with a turkey burger, the prices are so so, and its easy to get in and out of! The burger I had was very juicy, and the meat was overlapping the bun! The entire team at this location was focused on serving and were helpful and kind. The cashier helped us understand options and facilitated our Loyalty program points. Darryl was the guy who brought out our food and he personally made a few trips to the kitchen for other things we requested. My family and I decided to try Smasburger on Franklin Ave today and it was a mistake. While we were ordering, there was a crew member practicing what could politely be called poor hygiene. Trash handling with no gloves, followed by nose picking and finally food handling without washing his hands made for red flags. Maybe it's expecting too much but, the attitude in the kitchen probably needs to be examined as well. I think that they should make a burger that they would eat for themselves. Franklin and Maple Grove, Boise ID, 12/17/2022 at 11:15am. This isn't just a problem at this location, it's the same as airports and other locations. The food is usually terrible and overpriced, but my wife wanted some so we stopped in. Ordered 2 burgers and 6 wings with fries and sodas, $42... wow, I didn't realize Gordon Ramsey was slaughtering the cows out back and grinding chuck by hand, this should be good. We sat alone in the entire restaurant for a half hour before anyone walked in. Whatever, no big deal, Smash Burger is known to take forever and we've been to several places, same routine. Someone sits down and gets their food before us... we've been sitting for a half hour and my son is starting to fuss. So I go up and ask, "we've been sitting for a half hour alone, how are other seated people being served before us?" She responds "they arrived at the same time as you"... as if I'm both blind and stupid. So I reponded "No they did not. They walked in 5 minutes ago" (which they did). We somehow get our food third in line, no to-go orders, shows up cold, also the wings are disgusting (tastes like they are microwaved, couldn't have been heated up by the sun since it's winter but it's possible I suppose, it takes roughly 7 minutes to deep fry wings but we waited a half hour, I digress). Wings were labeled as "New!" so I figured what what hell, let's try them... shame on me for trying new offerings. You know why places complain about not being able to find staff? It's because they pay shitty wages to high school students who can't cook worth a damn, I've eaten frozen foods better than this and it took less time. Absolute trash start to finish. After braving the mall on Labor Day, my husband and I decided to grab lunch at Smashburger. Neither one of us had ever gone before and so we wanted to try them out. It was around 1:30 when we arrived, so it wasn't too busy. The dining room was clean & all of the tables were bussed. When we went up tot the register we explained to the cashier that we would need a minute because we had never been here. He was very helpful and gave some recommendations of what's popular, what he likes, & even explained how the food was prepared. We decided on: Classic Smash with bacon & no onion Triple double with no veggies Tater Tots Soda The food was prepared very well. Our order arrived at the table got, fresh, & correct! The food tasted great! They don't freeze their meat so it tastes amazing! The burgers had a perfect amount of seasoning. The bacon was perfectly cooked & was delicious. I didn't eat any of the tots, but my husband said they were great. I will definitely be coming back. The prices were also very reasonable. The cashier even gave us a small discount on our food since it was our first time there. It was a very nice gesture. read more

Teetering 3-4 stars. I've been to several Smashburger locations, and this one did not ask about the smash club. I am accustomed to putting in my phone number to earn points. The host had no idea what the smash club was. When I pointed out on the bottom of the table number tag had a thing saying to join the smash club, she had a confused look and asked for a manager. The manager came and said that they don't do the smash club. He didn't seem to know much about the program. So why is it on the table tags marketing to join the smash club? I'm disappointed. The chicken truffle sandwich was also greasy and flat looking, unlike the photos of other burgers on the menu. The taste was there but the look was lacking. The sweet potato fries were nice.
