This place has been hit or miss for many years with the burgers but the one thing they always nail are the tots or fries. The rosemary, garlic, olive oil combo is sooo goood. This time I had their limited Colorado Burger and it was actually really tasty. These are the ingredients, it had an Angus Beef double patty, grilled green chilies, melted aged cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, lettuce, tomato, mayo, all on a spicy chipotle bun. The green chilies and bun were hardley spicey at all, but the pepper jack cheese did bring a little heat that was balanced out by the cheddar cheese. The bun was good but the bottom bun was to greasy, but thats an easy fix with some training. The restaurant was clean and presentable with nothing really unique about it. The costumer service was great. This place revamped their entire burger menu and spice blend in late 2024 and I think they are on the right trend forward. I wasn't a fan before but they grew on me with this burger and I will try others in the near future. read more

These are not the Oklahoma style burgers but they were still good. I was helped by a nice counter guy who was friendly (Kyle?). I ordered the Classic Smash burger. It came with tomato, red onions and a green leaf lettuce leaf and dill pickle slices. A little messy to eat - maybe they can use a wrap like most other burger places do. I also got a fountain drink and liked their variety of drink options at the self serve station. There's nothing really smashed about this burger except the name. I thought the very definition of a smash burger is one round mound of ground beef that is smashed on the grill to cook it. Shouldn't they be irregularly shaped with charred meat on the outer parts of the patty? This burger was none of that. However, the burger was well priced and tasted just fine. I liked the large bun with my burger and the drink cups are nicely insulated too. A good value but they remind me of a burger from The Habit for some reason instead of a true smash burger like I get from a lot of other places. A great smash burger comparison is a smash burger from Daddyburger in Tucson or Smash that Burger in Seattle. Now those are great smash burgers that I hoped this place would've been. I think it's time to update my review. Smashburger on Franklin feels like it's a business in decline. The good - not a lot to report here. Truly nothing that would make me say to someone, 'Hey you should go there and order...." The meh - most of the experience. Portions have clearly been reduced on most/all items. Prices are up and the value is reduced beyond what I'm willing to pay - yes, you can read that as I'm probably not going back. The Jalapeno chicken sandwich -and it seems many others are no longer available. The bad - I'm not sure any of it was bad, but it wasn't an experience that I'll spend my money on. Even though I was only about 15 minutes away from the restaurant it still forced me to make the pickup time online 15 minutes longer than it needed to be. All I ordered was a bacon smash burger and smash fries. I placed the order at 6:46 Pm and was told I can only make the estimated wait time 7:15. Obviously I arrived earlier than that at 7:03 but after checking in at the counter I was still told I had to wait until the time I was forced to put down. While waiting I saw a lady stand at the register for a good while, none of the employees helped her before I left, I don't know how long she ended up waiting, as when my food was ready at 7:22(very disappointed) she was still standing there when I left. Upon getting home, my wife was disappointed to find that they didn't include the avocado on her burger that we paid extra for, along with the ranch being missing as well. The fries were evidently not fresh either, so I'm not sure why it took so long to begin with if the food was already made and sitting out for so long. My wife and I went to have dinner together at this location. We placed an order and sat and waiting for our food, about 15 minutes later my wife's meal came out. No comment was made about my meal. I refilled my wife's drink and was turning around to ask about my meal and they said that it was coming soon, they were waiting on my bacon. A few minutes later and a worker came over and told us that they got a huge catering order of 45 burgers and they needed to fill those before they could fill my order even though we ordered before that came in and I was still sitting waiting for my meal, which was on the same ticket/order as my wife's meal. When I asked how long the wait would be they said it would be 20-40 minutes and would get to it when they could. I told the guy I wanted a refund and he said he would get the manager. I told the manager I wanted my money back which he said he could take care of at the register. As I walked up to the register my meal was in the food window, although they seemed confused if it was my meal and did not offer if I wanted my meal or the refund. Really for the inconvenience I should have received both. Manager gave me the refund and we left so I could eat somewhere else. On Sunday August 13, 2023, at 11:15 am I entered a Smashburger restaurant (#1058), which I have been to many times in the past. I could see there was only one couple (patrons) seated at a table, one employee (male) seated at a table and on his phone, one employee at the service window facing away from me and watching a football game on his phone (he did not respond to me entering the restaurant and walk up to the register to order). I stood at the register for several minutes, before he put down his phone with the football game on and approached to take my order. I ordered Haystack Onions (order #10005) only. The order was placed at 11:21 am according to the receipt. I stood by and waited for my order. While waiting for over 10 minutes, where all I saw were the cooks in the back just talking and joking around, apparently working on the order for the couple waiting at the table, when two others came in the restaurant to order. After a few minutes, the order was complete and another person came into the restaurant and stood at the register waiting to order, while I stood by and waited for my order. I saw that the couple at the table had received their order. The second couple that came into the restaurant was having their order and a phone order was being processed, but nothing for me after ordering 15+ minutes earlier. I observed the order (which contained Haystack Onions) for the second couple had been completed and was being brought to their table. I inquired about my order. The male who took my order called back to the two guys cooking and again asked about my order. They stated that they had to put them in to cook. I eventually received my order, 20 + minutes after the initial order, and 25 minutes after I entered the restaurant. I would normally not complain about something like this, however, this is the second time I have complained about something regarding to your company. The first time was an incorrect order. This time, I could understand it taking so long if they were busy, but they were not busy at the time. There were only three of us in the restaurant. I've been to Smashburger elsewhere, but the first time at this location. I'm having mixed thoughts for my visit. The price is in line with other gourmet burger places. The food: I had the classic single burger with cheese. My first bite was awarded with the perfectly seasoned patty. However, as I ate I felt there was too much ketchup and mustard as it over powered any other flavor. The fries are thin and cooked perfect with a crisp outer shell, but soft inside. They could've been seasoned a little more. The fry sauce was a good complement. Service: The service was prompt and answered any question I had. Facility: The facility was clean. But this is where they lost a star. In fact, I almost removed 2 stars in this category. When entering the restaurant and throughout the meal, there was a bad burnt smell. I have been months searching for a real burger only to be mislead to places like Freddy's, Golden Wheel Drive-In, Main Street Burger and Burger N Brew. They all suck, big time. If they aren't forcing you to use gobs of nasty "fry sauce" on your meal, they are serving up tasteless, defrosted something they call meat on a boring, stiff bun. Freddy's and the Golden Wheel can't even fake a burger since all you get is frozen patties in a bun without tomatoes, lettuce and onion. If the world was filled with 4 year olds, then these guys would be making the right kind of food. The Boise Fry Company is highly overrated and one must get a second home mortgage to afford eating there. If you like to take 5 minutes placing an order where you have to tell them 8-10 pieces of critical information from a list of 50 choices, then you are that same person who can't order your favorite Starbucks coffee in less than 25 words. We had some success with Pauly's Bar Room which serves some mean specialty burgers. The Dutch Goose provided a great burger, but they have closed for good. Hat's off to Beef O'Brady's for their build your own approach. Out of all of these places, they have the advantage of having full liquor bars where little ankle-biters are not seen nor heard. Behold the Smashburger. A no nonsense place where one can get a classic double cheeseburger with onion, tomato, lettuce and pickle for $7.30. The meat is greasy and of course, delicious. The sauce is nice, not overpowering. The staff is welcoming and polite. The burgers come out FAST and I mean FAST. The dining room is spotless with lots of COVID precautions for both the servers and the customers. Add a side of fries for $2.70 and you have a great American lunch or dinner. The fries are plain cut and loooonngg - not batter dipped (ugh), crinkled, shoestring or steak fries or any other bizarre mistreatment of the poor potato. They are perfectly fried. They are not served with some dummy forcing fry sauce on you, but rather they are automatically served with little packets of ketchup. Yay! My entire meal was properly seasoned and at the right temperature. Something that the "other" fast burger places fail at. Smashburger ya done good. Photos? Earlier this week, the Meridian Smashburger hosted a tasting party for Yelp members. Quarter-cut slices of seven different beef and chicken burgers were brought out over the course of the evening, along with a salad and potato fries, sweet potato fries, flash-fried green beens and carrots, fried pickles and Haystack onions. Everything was provided free of charge. I was impressed with the flavors, the quality of the food and the friendly service. Today, I went to the Boise store on my own dime to see how things compared. I was just as impressed. I ordered the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger -- my favorite from the tasting menu -- Smash fries (with olive oil, garlic and rosemary drizzled over them) and a pop. The slight char on the burger brings out extra flavor without tasting burned. The soft egg bun is fantastic. I don't completely care for the shoestring fries used in the Smash fries, I'd rather have them a bit more substantial, but I still enjoyed them. read more
