The irony they wanted me to leave a review upon renting a space here…read more I have my stuff at Xtra Space Watt/Fruitridge Location and I decided to rent a space on Stockton Blvd because it's much closer to my house. Boy, it was not good. 1)I rented a 10x20. I measured it and definitely not exactly 10x20, it's a foot shorter and couple of inches short wide. NOT THAT BIG OF DEAL but.. 2)There are holes in the wall. I am surprised that they even rented this space out (see pictures). They knew it wasn't in good condition but rented to me anyway and it's just not my space that's in bad condition, it's multiple units... The other unit can look into my unit and even stick a hand inside. For a storage space with lots of rules, close earlier than others (8am-8pm) and charging $156 for 10x20 ish, this is disappointing. I am strongly considering cancelling and going somewhere else, we'll see. The only thing that's nice is that this is 5 minutes from my house and I can grab/drop what I need quickly. Staff is nice/ok, but in today's economy, shelling out 220 on the first payment for a place like this is dismal. Boo.

I've been with American River Self Storage for nearly a decade. This month marks 10 years -- and…read morethat alone should say something. I've never had an issue with my units, the grounds, or the overall safety of the facility. I genuinely enjoy being here. Over the years, I've referred many people, and at least four of my immediate family members currently rent units here as well. Office management is amazing Scott and Lawrence deserve real recognition. Scott is the on-site backbone of this facility -- the one you see constantly staying on top of the grounds, making sure everything is clean, maintained, and running smoothly day in and day out. His customer service is phenomena; he's dependable, consistent, patient, respectful, and always willing to assist. Lawrence is also phenomenal to work with -- professional, helpful, and always clear when handling anything that involves paperwork or questions. Together, Scott and Lawrence make the office run the way it should, and they're a major part of why I've stayed loyal all these years. When I need something done, they make the process simple and straightforward, every time. To be transparent, I do avoid dealing with one staff member: Ian. My interactions with him have been consistently difficult. His tone comes across condescending, like you know less than you do and he tends to complicate simple requests instead of clarifying them. A recent experience -- I was moving things between my two units and using the electrical outlet on the wall. I'd been plugged in for about two and a half hours with no problem, and then 45 minutes before closing Ian suddenly came out to tell me I wasn't allowed to use it. So it took 150 minutes for you to realize and address the issue. A few days later, I called to ask if they stil had any larger unit I oreviously discussed with Scott available so I could consolidate, and in the middle of the conversation he repeats, "And just to remind you, you also can't use the electrical outlets." At that point, it felt unnecessary. I heard you the first time I'm an adult, I understood it, and repeating it came off exactly the way my experiences with him usually feel. Aside from that, this facility has been nothing but dependable -- clean grounds, secure units, and reliable management. I've been here almost ten years, I currently have two units, and I don't plan on going anywhere else. If you're looking for a storage facility you can actually trust long-term, with staff who genuinely take care of their tenants, ask for Lawrence or Scott. They're the reason so many of us stay loyal to American River Self Storage.

PUBLIC STORAGE IS NOT ADA COMPLIANT!!!!! DO NOT LET YOUR DISABLED FAMILY MEMBERS GET INVOLVED WITH…read moreTHEM!!!!!!! I contacted Public Storage at Howe Avenue a few days ago regarding my mother's account. She is stage 4, in hospice, bedbound, in a wheelchair, and on oxygen. She wanted my brother and me to be on her account due to the fact that she is actively dying and wanted us to have access to everything having to do with the account and our belongings. I called Public Storage and asked for disability accommodations in accordance with the ADA, and they told me that my brother and I could come down to the office to have the information switched. We went down there, and they decided to rescind their agreement, stating that my bedbound, dying mother had to get out of bed in the 90+ degree heat to come down to present her driver's license in person to get our names on the property that she has been paying for for over 5 years. So we decided to try to access the unit while we were there. Our keys did not work. We came back with every single key in our house, and none of our keys worked. We went back into the office again to ask if the lock had been cut, and we were told NO. So we decided to come back today, Friday May 22nd, and bring our mom down to get the account swapped, since they said they couldn't cut the lock for us until we were on the account. Then found out, while there, that they do not cut locks for us. They can either submit a request that can take up to 30 days, hire a locksmith, or let their bill default, and we will pay a late fee. So, we hired a locksmith today, which cost us $85. When the locksmith opened the unit, there was our old lock, drilled out, lying on the floor inside our unit. It had been cut off and relocked, and we were lied to TWICE by office staff that the lock had not been cut and that we were crazy. The office, of course, closed two hours early today at 4pm, when they were supposed to be open until 6 pm today, so I also had to go and purchase a lock from elsewhere to secure my unit and my belongings. This is beyond bad business and against the ADA. I have already filed a report with the BBB.

And also I have never left a review good or bad for any busines in my almost 40 yrs of life. So with that being said. I got this unit do to a domestic violence incident in my home I had to take one load and grab as much as I could, everything else of mine and my 3 children was left behind. This is now all we own. Including our vehicle that I shared with him is all gone. Which means getting to and from our unit has been a struggle all in itself. We finally had time and made ride arrangements since the 100 degre weather made taking the bus just not doable With 3 small kiddos. it's been two months since my kids have set their eyes on the little things that make them smile. When we got there the office door was locked it was well past 1 pm and I was told by the employee that she had just started her lunch and to come back in about 30 mins .. I was ok with the request since there was a store right near by that we could go to and stay cool in. An hour later We came back to the office locked again and noticed her on the golf cart moving fast past the gate ..we called to her but I guess me and my babes weren't loud enough? So in the very hot sun we followed after her and finally caught up, to be told she meet us around the other side. Finally she stopped and took my payment info RIGHT THERE OUTSIDE IN THE 102* temperature ? Didn't offer to take us inside or some cold water .. nothing. At that point I'm still ignoring the strange vibes I'm getting. After the payment I asked if she could get into our unit since my purse was recently stolen. I don't have my keys. And, That was ok, No problem she said she'd meet us at my unit in a just a few mins. Thank goodness my unit was actually in a hall way where it wasnt over 100 anymore but still easily 90 something still not ideal for my kids at all.. So tell me why we sat there for almost 30 mins just waiting.. For her to come back and let me know she can't find the drill I'll have to come back in the morning at 930 when they open?!? might sound simple ... if I owned a car.. So NOw I'm irritated, and upset. And hot the kids are hot.. still no offer to cool off in the office or nothing. By then my phone was dead im sweating and we all have to use the restroom so head back to office once again it's locked we have to ask thru the door to go potty. And this is where Im just super confused. As soon as we walked in her attitude changed and seemed annoyed that we're there. Like she don't want to deal with us. Barely lets me and the kids use the rr. And says something about another customer messed up the bathroom had to call plumber .. ? Ok. And then when it's my turn she says something like I'm not sure what your doing in there but I'm gonna have to ask you to get out of the bathroom .. my kids were standing in the door as I was using the sink/mirror to wash the the SWEAT OFF MY FACE. and do my best to reapply some of the make up I lost in the process. Saying that I need to leave now because I didn't move fast enough and some other very weird comments making me feel super uncomfortable like I'm a crack head (no judgemt To any "crack heads") and I'm trying to take over their bathroom. I was in there a total maybe 6 to 7 minutes, and had the door open with my children for half of it. It's all on camera so I really hope I can find corporates number because the way my children and I were treated was beyond unprofessional it was degrading and embarrassing. Treated with no respect as customers or AS HUMANS IN GENERAL? I was in tears as I had to tell my kids to step back outside in the 100 * weather as we waited for a family member to pick us and empty handed with none of our items we came for. The stress this lady caused was so unnecessary and ugly that here I am actually writing about it. Hoping someone can do something about this ? I pay my bill I mind my business and I work in customer service.. I KNOW THAT THIS WAS VERY WRONG. People like that should not exist in that type of work. Im A human with feelings and I didn't deserve that treatment nor my children ..being decent/kind shouldnt be hard. And I have a lot going on in my life and today this was my tipping point. Im sitting here still very upset. Wondering what I did wrong to be treated as I was . wOrst part is I have to go back to that place some how in the morning and see that person again .. to try and get to our belongings smh.
