One of my favorite neighborhood spots in canton to just hang out and catch a game. The service here is super chill and friendly as all the bartenders/servers are great. The bar/beer selection is large and plentiful and there happy hour specials are good. Plenty of tvs to watch O's/Ravens games and anything else. They are a Liverpool FC bar if you follow EPL, a good spot to catch games. The food here is solid american/bar food. They also do sushi which isn't bad for american sushi. Just don't come here expecting fancy sushi, what they got is good enough but won't be for sushi snobs. My go to things here are the wings and burgers. The burger here is IMO one of the best in baltimore. The burgers are always cooked perfectly and I love that they serve it on potato rolls. read more

Sushi and Burgers makes an interesting combination; but, it works here. They offer specials Monday thru Friday and serve Brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Yummy is the word I would use to describe the sushi at Smaltimore. I just love the "Buy any sushi roll at regular price and get a FREE traditional roll" that they offer from 5 to 7 PM - Monday thru Friday. Tonight, we both tried something completely different for us. My husband ordered the Maryland Burger - a roseda burger with crab meat dip, cheddar cheese and bacon - interesting flavors. I had the Bermuda Triangle - 8 nice size pieces of sushi stuffed with crab meat, shrimp, eel with wasabi mayonnaise and drizzled in teriyaki sauce. Smaltimore is a brand new bar and restaurant in Canton, and so naturally I was excited to check it out after reading about it in the local media. My fiancee and I went during their soft opening phase and we were quite impressed! The fare is described as burgers and sushi. Awesome, because those are two of my favorite things! When we went, the sushi wasn't yet available, so I had a bacon, egg, and cheese burger! It was quite good, and only 6 dollars! Who wouldn't love an egg on a burger? I really like that they use local beef, and that the base hamburger is only $4. That's a great deal, any night of the week. I'm looking forward to go back and check out the sushi. The restaurant is in a nice location and brand new inside. They've done a good job decorating, and have around a dozen TVs around for sports affairs. They've replaced most of the exterior walls with big doors that open wide on a nice day, which made for a nice bright environment, somewhere you'd want to be. As for the bar, they have 36 beers on tap! That's a lot. Finally, and perhaps the most interesting thing about Smaltimore is their market pricing beer scheme, where the prices of beer go up and down based on demand. Took us a while to get seated, but service was friendly afterwards. The menu has a lot of interesting choices. We got the spicy tuna avocado roll which was fantastic. I got a grilled cheese, which was okay, but it arrived room-temperature and VERY wet and soggy on one side of each half. The burgers are fairly small for the price. We've only gone here once for sit down near the bar in the summer. The place is usually pretty busy and is a Penn state bar if you are a fan. My review though is for the Delia folia wings, which are one of the best in the area. It's an interesting concept: stock market for beer and burgers + sushi on the menu. I think that it's a fun way to try different types of beer based on what's priced lower based on the "market". They also have a $20 stein deal where you buy a $12 stein + $8 beer and you can get any beer in the future for $8 with that stein (25 oz so the equivalent of 2 beers). It beats the stock market. The service, though, seems not quite in sync. I came here on a Friday and the place was packed! The server told us that if we waited a few minutes, one of the large tables would be leaving soon and we could take their table. Several people came by to try to take our order, and then towards the second part of the dinner, no one came by. They took my card at the bar when I ordered a drink while waiting, but when we got the bill, they didn't bring my card... The food is find. I a few sushi rolls and their crab tots. The crabs tots were a bit much... Very, VERY cheesy!! The sushi was fine, not really wrapped that well. Their prices are a bit lower than other places, but their sushi isn't quite as fancy as other places. Smaltimore is one of the closest restaurants walking distance from BF's house so we're in pretty frequently. Sometimes we go in and it's pretty empty and sometimes we go in and can't find a seat! They have your typical bar food and do it well. Their tots are the bomb. Something unique about them though is they also have sushi! From 5-7 during the week they do 2 for 1 regular sushi rolls. It's ok sushi, nothing amazing but it hits the spot if you're craving tots and some sushi! They also have recently added sushi burritos to their menu. Their drinks are on the stock market system which I think is interesting. Sometimes there are really good deals. It also encourages me to try new beers based on whatever is cheap at the time! BF bought a refillable stein for I believe $12. They will fill it with any beer for $8! Overall staff is great. Personal favorite is the octopus and lemon roll. Well, I shouldn't say absolute favorite. That is reserved for the most amazing creation, a Smaltimore special, the sushi burrito. Particularly great for Giants fans- with a giants fan BF and myself being from Baltimore, it was a perfect balance. Their draft list is SUPER long. My only slight complaint was that 3/4 of it was pumpkin beers. Don't get me wrong, I love me a pumpkin beer, but often one is enough to and I want to switch to something else. Smaltimore is a great bar with great food tucked in the Canton neighborhood. Darby, our waitress, was the best, I've had her twice. Everything is reasonably priced and fresh to order. I'm not much of a beer drinker but Darby matched me pretty well with her picks, Dogfish Seaquench Ale was my personal favorite. I went here during happy hour. They have pretty good deals- 6 dollar crushes and mules and buy one get one free sushi rolls (although the free one has to be one of the traditional rolls and not a specialty roll). The atmosphere is more like a sports bar. It was pretty loud and there are TV screens lining the perimeter. It has tables but they're sort of surrounding the bar. I think that I would recommend coming here to watch a game over bringing a family here. The sushi rolls were surprisingly good for not being a Japanese restaurant. They have some unique, more Americanized flavors like a roll with Old Bay seasoning on it. They also have some pretty good bar food such as wings. The thai wing sauce is really good. The first drink we got was mules, which were pretty good standard mules. Next we got crushes- the blueberry lemonade crush was excellent! Very light and refreshing, not too sweet, and the alcohol was not overpowering. They also had some other interesting crush flavors like watermelon. One of the best parts of our visit was a promotional worker from Leinenkugel's was giving away free beer as samples there. read more

We come here all the time for Liverpool games. It is Baltimore's only dedicated Liverpool bar and one of only two places you can watch the Premiership games. The service is always great even when the place is standing room only. I love that I can bring my kids here and feel comfortable even when people are drinking during a game on the weekend. I'm a single mom of two young kids and it's hard to feel like we are welcome at places like this. The staff at Smaltimore are always great to them; very accommodating. They have crayons and coloring books and don't get annoyed if they are jumping around during the game. There are always a couple of kids in here which makes me feel so happy that they have such a great family atmosphere. The food is amazing and well priced for the area and they always have drinks specials on. Highly recommend whether you're a Liverpool fan or not. read more

I was fortunate enough to live down the street from Smaltimore for a summer. It's a nice pub that always seems to be busy at night (especially the weekends) without being pretentious or overly obnoxious. The food I had there was good and they had a decent rotating beer selection. Monday nights were trivia nights and wednesday nights were bingo night (my favorite). The bingo was hosted by a hilarious (usually semi-drunk) entertaining host who always made it a lot of fun. I enjoyed coming in here after work to blow off some steam and grab dinner/a beer while enjoying the atmosphere. I have since moved and I will miss Smaltimore! I'll come back when I visit! read more

Ok, I have to admit I was skeptical coming here, not because of the food but because of the beer pricing system they established here. The way it works is the more a beer is ordered the higher the price will become. The less something is ordered the more the price decreases. Simple economics really. I was thinking, "That's stupid, what if I want to drink Natty Boh all night, I don't want to be paying $7 for that." BUT, when I got there I determined it's a brilliant idea. When you see the beer list you will understand. They have about 36 brews on tap and it's nice that the list includes beer advocate's rating of each beer. This system forces you to try something new if cost motivates you. I got a Bear Republic brew for like $4 and that will run you $6 to $7 elsewhere. Lets look at some of the cons of this system. 1. The beer ticker system. I don't know why but I could not look away from the monitor! The beer prices update every minute or so, so you can see the percentage of increase or decrease beers are taking. This was bad because I wasn't paying attention to my wife. Oy! 2. Watching the beer prices change you realize that the next beer you want may be more expensive by the time your ready to order it. So you need to finish the beer you have quickly! This can get dicey. I found I was pounding beers as opposed to enjoying them. Caught a buzz pretty quickly, so be careful. The Food. They specialize in burgers here. The beef is local, hand ground, never frozen and hormone free. They are really affordable too. (See other reviews for pricing.). I had the cheeseburger, LTO, and special sauce. The burger was a euphoric experience. It was cooked at a nice medium rare and the egg had plenty of yolk. The added bonus for me is that it was served on a Martins Potato Roll. Boom! Those are the only rolls burgers should be served on! We also had the loaded tots. They were fried crispy and topped with bacon, a cheese sauce and cream. They were pretty good. Overall, I will certainly come back here. I liked everything about it. The only awkward thing is when you walk in there is no hostess and we weren't really greeted by anyone. So I would just snag a bartender to be seated. I feel like they need to keep at least a couple beers on the cheap end... No beers were cheaper than that. On the flip side, that means you can get a really good beer with more alcohol content for a great deal! I got Brewer's Art Resurrection for $4.75 and that was 7% alcohol by volume and was the only beer I needed all night! So even though I am cost conscious I do love good beer, so you can definitely get a good beer here and for a reasonable price. Will definitely be back soon! I think the Philly was 80% rice, 19% cream cheese and 1% salmon... essentially a rice and cream cheese roll (ew). The spicy salmon was not much different on the ratio of rice to salmon. Absolutely terrible. Do not write this place off though! THE BURGERS AND TOTS ARE AMAZING!!!! I would probably say best burger in Baltimore! And I will ONLY order burgers and tots from here from now on (no sushi, they should just take the sushi off the menu, it is confusing to be there in the first place and not worth it). The only perk was the free Guinness beer that was given out on promotion by the local brewers at the local brewery. Needless to say, I wouldn't want anyone to roll my dead body into that bar/restaurant. Oh and they're also super understaffed and had all the windows and doors open on a 55° night in October. Came here for dinner on a Friday night when we were craving burgers. All of the tables were filled, but one of the staff alerted us that there was a table that was finishing up. Despite being packed, the staff was quick and attentive. They have a huge beer list (with a lot of different choices in cider too! yum!). I ordered the mushroom burger and husband ordered the bacon egg & cheeseburger. The burgers were small but made really well and served on a potato bun. We ordered a side of loaded tater tots, which was super crispy and topped with cheese, bacon, jalapeños, and sour cream. Also ordered a side of crab mac & cheese, which was good too.
