This cupcake shop just opened this week! I've been waiting or them to open for a few months, with great anticipation may I add! I visited tonight, around 8 pm, but the cupcakes still looked delicious, so i did my usual photo thing, then placed my order. here's my review... Establishment: star earned - The cake shop is pretty brand new, so it looks great inside and out, so of course it passed with good mental marks. Waitstaff/Counter person: star earned - There were two ladies working at the counter. Both women were pleasant and greeted me and my sister as soon as we walked in, even thought they were busy helping 2 other customers (that was nice)! Service: star earned - Once it was my turn to order, the lady at the counter was happy to explain the cupcake flavors to me that I inquired about. She quickly boxed up my order and I was on my way. Food/Drinks: star earned - So here's what we all want to know about....The Cupcakes!! OMG!! First up..the strawberry lemonade flavor....wow...just wow. The cake was perfectly moist and well flavored. The icing.... was the best icing I've had in a long time. The sweetness was in that elusive perfect place, not too sweet, and perfectly flavored as well. Usually the icing on cupcakes is super sweet and will make your teeth hurt, not these. If you put an ice cube in you mouth, and ate this cupcake, you'd feel like you're drinking a perfect cup of strawberry lemonade. I hope they never tweak this recipe. Now for the pecan pie flavor. This is the cake you have with a scoop of ice cream or coffee, AH-mazing! Again, perfect moist cake, rich pecan flavor you can discern, and the perfect level of sweetness in the flavored icing, with chopped pecans on top. My opinion is, If you love cake, then you would do yourself a disservice to not visit and order from this bakery. The hype is well earned here, so much so, you wont even miss the $3.75 for a single cupcake. I plan on getting more in the near future (as in tomorrow). Oh my glorious goodness, and by that I mean these cupcakes and especially the ice cream.. I sampled the salted caramel this morning and thought my head exploded in mind blowing ecstasy of a fountain of caramel rapture, cascading in rivulets of salty goodness. Yes, in a way it was wonderful and that way was a sweet and Scrumptious adventure indeed! The shop is small but very clean and laid out very well. All cupcakes are made fresh daily. They aren't cheap but priced accordingly in my opinion. I'm certain I would be in trouble if I lived closer to this establishment as it would be overwhelmingly tempting to not stop constantly on my way home. I dk where to even start butttt we got very lucky yesterday. It was my sisters 30th bday and of course, my mom and I were last min shopping for a cake. My mom had said to me Go find a chocolate one! So I was out driving with no luck n finally called SC. I asked first if there was any cakes with black frosting that I can go check out n take w me. She said no cakes in the shop but only cupcakes as of right now.. sadly, I was like mmmm ok. Thennnn she said BUT I accidentally baked a 6in round chocolate cake today and if you're interested, you can get it and we can design it for you. I was like OMG..Is she serious? I mean It couldn't have been better! I got lucky enough to call at the perfect time and bam! She had a chocolate cake that I could easily tell her what design I wanted. I have always wanted to order a cake from SmallCakes ever since I saw them on the Food Network, and when they opened up a location in Katy, I was very excited. Well, I had the opportunity to order a birthday cake for my mom. When I went into the bakery to order the cake, a team member took my name and phone number, told me to send a picture of the cake I wanted to order to their email address, and told me that the manager will call me in a couple of hours. I did not get a call that day or the following day, so I decided to email again inquiring if they will be able to fulfill my order. The manager finally called and told me that the cake I originally wanted cannot be fulfilled since they do not do art designs. So, she suggested a different design, which I was ok with because I wanted to try out their cake. During the call, the manager that I spoke to was very helpful and ensured the cake will be pretty. I, along with my family were elated to see how pretty the cake was, and how delicious it tasted (moist, not dry). I would have initially rated it a 4 (because I had to follow-up via email regarding my request, instead of the bakery calling me about my order), but dropped it down to 1 based on the CON. We ordered a grooms cake for my wedding. I sent numerous photos of what I expected and wanted the cake to look like. It was supposed to be ole miss themed and 2 tier. Since my husband is a huge ole miss fan I decided to fork up the 215 for this cake. The day of the wedding my husband picked up the cake and It was awful. The colors used for the border and details did not match, and the imaging they used on the cake was horrid. To top it off the top of the cake had awful multicolored blobs of icing that weren't symmetrical or even. We did our best to remove them.. After about an hour of receiving it the cake stated to lean and fall apart. I was so embarrassed by this cake that we didn't even put it on display at our wedding. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because it tasted better than it looked. Overall I am very disappointed in what we received especially for the cost. The cream cheese frosting on both were very sweet, so I scraped it off of each one. The lemon drop was supposed to be lemon cake per the description. I would rate a zero if I could. Mrs Jay is the cake manager at this location. I consulted with her via email and phone to have a custom cake made for my son's 15th birthday. I sent her pictures for the cake and she agreed to make the cake how it looks in the picture without any issues or concerns. She charged me $100 for a 9inch cake that would look just like in the picture. A simple "drip cake" with fondant basketballs on it. She did say that she would not be able to add the gold splatter that is on the cake. I said that was fine. I told her not to add the small gold candies on the top. She agreed to that. I informed her that I saw all of the beautifully made cakes posted on Facebook, so I placed my trust in Smallcakes Katy to exceed my expectations. I was sadly disappointed. I picked up the cake on my way to the party venue. It was nothing like what I ordered. But I had no other choice but to take the cake. I called to inform Mrs Jay, she was very rude, defensive, inconsiderate, uncaring, and unprofessional. She said that she approved the cake and that she did not see anything wrong with the cake. She was very proud of the cake. But she offered me 6 cupcakes worth $26 to compensate my frustration. My guest called the cake the Halloween nightmare version to the cake that I ordered. It was very embarrassing. Mrs Jay refused to refund me and she never apologized. She failed to admit that the whole cake was a joke. I will never order another custom cake from this location. I've order custom cakes from Smallcakes Longview and Shrevport and they went above and beyond my expectations. Mrs Jay I suggest you get some training in custom cakes and customer service before you lose your business. read more

Eventhough I live closer to the Cypress location I was "in the neighborhood" and had to stop for my fav Strawberry cupcake! I'd experienced cupcakes from this location at a birthday party and pretty much was hooked from then forward. Leto cupcakes- I have nothing good to say about them. 1) they were not fresh, they were frozen 2) the frosting was pretty much just butter. I had a red velvet cupcake with butter frosting? That's not red velvet and you can have cream cheese on keto so please find a cream cheese frosting recipe for this. 3) I also tried the chocolate. It tastes like the red velvet just a little more bitter. I wanted a sweet treat not a bitter one and I'm pressure the only difference between the two was food coloring. I'm not a huge cupcake fan but I was excited to try this new place in katy- I went in on a weekday and was helped by a very sweet girl who explained all the flavors and favorites to me.. ended up buying 4 different flavors to try- hot fudge sundae, birthday cake, wedding cake and strawberry. Of these four flavors, my husband loved the hot fudge sundae and we both enjoyed the strawberry- this was my absolute favorite! I think they definitely need to turn this into a permanent flavor as it is only available on certain days. Something I really liked about these cupcakes is that we ate them over a span of 3 days and they remained soft, moist and light all three days, not losing their texture or going stale. It was a pleasant surprise and also a great plus for someone who wants to buy a few flavors but doesn't want to eat them all in one day. The place is amazing! Truly the best cupcakes I had in a while. All of their cupcakes are baked fresh daily. Anything left over is donated at the end of the day to various hospitals and first responders. Such a good story. We had their wedding cake cupcake (almond cupcake with almond butter cream frosting). The concept is good but the variety in flavors is repetitive. They basically take the same chocolate and vanilla cake and add flavored frosting, or use a chocolate fudge frosting and sprinkle toppings on it and call it a fancy name.
