This location is right by my work and one of my coworkers has brought cupcakes from here on a few occasions. I've always thought they were good and the flavors were creative. My boss told me that they also make pup cakes for the doggos and being that it was my puppy's first birthday I decided to go get him a treat. Waking into the bakery is heaven!! Smells so look, it's visually appealing and there are so many choices I was there for the pup cakes and was able to get two for a real good price. My doggies inhaled their pup cake and they both approved. I decided to get some cupcakes while I was there and got a strawberry cupcake, a hot fudge sundae and a peanut butter cupcake. All three were amazing. Super moist and the frosting is always perfect! I will be going back more often. read more

Edit: 5/21 Sal the business owner keeps reporting or having delegates report my review. Not sure why. If he wants to he can reach out to me and provide cupcakes for me to review again if he wants me to try it again. Ate cupcakes from here a while back. My last review was removed for whatever reason but I'm rewriting to make sure a valuable review is provided. The cupcakes we had were not moist at all. The frosting seemed like it was a bit too whipped. I've made much better cupcakes at my own house. The people inside for pickup seemed nice. This was before all of the COVID problems. I would not come back and order from here. I've found more local options online for better tasting cupcakes than this corporate location. I also don't agree that they should have their business open during a quarantine. They are non essential and have no business operating right now. Regardless the cupcakes were not the sweetest or that moist. 4/10 would not recommend. The location in Naperville does it better. Take the extra drive. Scenic route. read more

I stopped by Smallcakes yesterday for the first time. I was picking up pizza at Lou's next door and thought I'd stop by and check them out. When I walked in I honestly thought they were closing shortly because they were so empty... I selected 6 cupcakes even though there weren't many to choose from, which left me a little disappointed. Since this was the first time coming my first impression wasnt great. I wasnt treated when I entered. I really think your front service people should be outgoing and more inviting. I called to order a birthday cake for my daughter. The person who answered was very polite and apologetic that the baker was not there to take the order but promised to relay the message. A few days went by with no call back so I called again and left a voicemail regarding ordering a cake. No one ever responded. The least they could have done was call me back to say they couldn't so the cake. This was very poor service. I live nearby and occasionally stop in for cupcakes. I like to support local small business. They are pricey, but the kids feel like they're getting a special treat when I being these cupcakes home. Delicious! We had the peanut butter and the pumpkin cupcakes tonight. The service was good and the guy working there knew his products. The cupcakes were moist and just the right amount of sweet. The pumpkin was good, but that peanut butter...yum! My boyfriend had to share after I watched him, with my sad eyes, dig into that gooey chocolate! I also didn't offer to share my pumpkin with him. So we were actually staying at the hotel nearby and decided to come in and maybe get a cupcake and possibly ice cream. When we walked in nobody was there to greet us. Once the young lady came from the back she had no smile to greet us and seemed irritated we were there. I ended up getting one scoop of the wedding cake icecream because it seemed to be a great option since it had the least left to it. I wasn't a big fan of it but my son enjoyed it. I was geeked when I ran across this cupcakery while driving! I never knew it was even there! After hearing so many good reviews about it I was excited to give it a shot on July 3rd. I was also pleasantly surprised that they were running a special buy one get one free! I later discovered this after I picked out four cupcakes. We had booked with Small Cakes for our wedding and I'm so glad that we did! Tanya was incredible to work with throughout the entire process. She was so bubbly and fun to work with. It's obvious that she truly loves what she does. With us having a wedding during COVID, plans had definitely changed. She was on top of it and made sure that she spoke with us again to go over the final details with all the new plans. She was willing to make any design we asked for, and they looked great! There's a lot of choices at small cakes . The staff is courteous and they are open long enough to cover most occasions. They do make other things than cupcakes, but you do need advance notice. I went in for the first time to get cupcakes to cover for a unplanned birthday party. I kept it minimal for the first time due to not wanting a lot of leftovers. They were very attractive to the eye, but the frosting tends to be more on the heavy side and a bit overpowering. That would be a personal choice for most . Pros- really flavorful moist cupcakes readily available , flavors are show stoppers. Some customer service reps are nice and knowledgeable. Had a problem with our order and it was taken care of right away. Cons- the younger employees seem very inexperienced and I had a difficult time placing my order. Also when there was an issue with my order she did not know what to do and was not very reassuring. The problem was taken care of but overall I have had issues with one or two people there. Suggestions: need more cream cheese icing options on special days (cannoli, etc). More specialties in general. Frosting is a tad too sweet. Also there is a 10.00 is outrageous for special decorations (like for NYE) that needs to be advertised better before people order. And bring back keto cupcakes! I recently picked up two cakes and 2 dozen cupcakes from here. And needless to say, there is none left. Everything was a big hit at our girls 2nd birthday. The staff is extremely friendly and so helpful! I reached out to them via FB chat to see if they could do a custom design and it came out perfect! They even matched the scheme on the cupcakes. I was looking for a place where I could do something simple, but they elevated our party with their design. I highly recommend, and I do not plan to go anywhere else for my cakes/cupcakes. I can't wait to try their daily flavors, and ice creams, and cake balls, and shakes - cus those look amazing as well.
