Nostalgia. I didn't grow up in Elburn but this place brings you back to the good ole days with the walk up window service. The line moves quick and the service is fast. There are a few tables around back but it seemed like most people got their ice cream and left. I tried the small Reese's flurry and HOLY CHUNKS! A lot come here for ice cream of course. It has other cold treats such as slushies. This is a popular place in the summer for sure when there's not much else cool in town. Also it has hot food. There's the usual greasy stuff like burgers, chicken tenders and other meaty stuff. Certainly there's not much healthy of course. Alice's Place is located in Route 47 in Downtown Elburn. It has plenty of Parking in their parking lot and also on the side street. I stopped by here for some ice cream after a hot day of fishing. The staff was pleasant, they take your order quickly and also process it quickly. I had ice cream in my hand in under 3 minutes. I chose the Large soft serve chocolate waffle cone. The size wasn't as large as I was expecting, but it was delicious regardless. My father got a chocolate malt, and my nephew and brother in law ordered Alice's version of a Blizzard. Everyone was quite pleased with their order. They do ask that you wear a mask at the window when you order due to Covid-19, and the staff all wore masks and gloves as well. Alice's was busy for a Sunday afternoon at 2pm, but it was hot and humid so that's what I would expect. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely stop there again when I'm in town. read more

Alice's Place simply reeks of nostalgia. As a snot-nosed kid growing up in Chicago, my friends and I would ride our bikes to the Cock Robin in River Grove, IL. It was eerily similar to Alice's Place, and right next door to the venerable Gene and Jude's, a place famous for their one-of-a-kind hot dogs and fries. Shoving each other around for first-in-line, we would happily fork over hard-earned paper route money for those delicious ice cream treats. We'd giggle at swear words, and regale each other with tall tales of "jumping ramps" on our bikes the day before. Every time I pull up to Alice's Place with my family, it's a visit back in time. I won't attempt to explain how good their service and their sweet treats are. Words could not do it justice. My best suggestion? Get the Key Lime Flurry. I'm no food expert but that sucker NEVER disappoints. No matter the mood going in, Alice's Place brings big smiles and great memories going out. read more

Lived in Elburn for 4 years before moving to Wisconsin. We love stopping at Alice's. Still do when we are back in the area. The food is delicious and affordable. Our very favorite was the Strawberry Shortcake. Outstanding... but they changed the menu with the onset if COVID. Very mom and pop shop just extremely over priced for all menu items. And extremely almost laughable wait time for cheese fries. I love going to Alice's during the summer each year. They have lots of fabulous ice cream treats that really hit the spot. They have everything from dipped cones to sundaes to flurries (their version of a blizzard). There is quite a bit of parking and outdoor seating, especially if you come after 6 pm when Ream's is closed. I would recommend visiting both stores on the same trip if possible. Besides the deliciousness of ice cream, one of the best parts about Alice's is the employees and the price. Today my two young children got to witness the owner of Alice's be extremely rude to me. I went with a friend, who would tell me if I did something to warrant the owner treating me this way (not that there is ever an excuse), and she clearly stated no. My family will never go there again. Go to Luau Coffee and Ice Cream in Wasco instead, which is exactly what we did when we left. I've been to plenty of tasty local ice cream shops. I stopped by Alice's this weekend with the whole family and it was terrific. Locally owned, the shop was staffed with helpful people who were quick at getting us our tasty soft serve treats and on our way quickly. I was very impressed with the diversity of choices at Alice's. Not just a soft serve ice cream counter, this place seems to offer just about everything. I'm anxious to try them for lunch one of these days. I've heard (through word of mouth only) that their burgers are quite tasty! As another reviewer stated, there is very limited seating and the parking lot could use a re-surfacing/restriping.
