If you're in Elburn you have to stop, I've been eating the hamburgers at this place since I was a kid. My favorite is the Texas Burger, but unfortunately it's hit or miss whether the supplier has them. Take your time and order, everything on the menu. It's all good, but over time you'll pick your favorites. As for the ice cream, it's technically iced milk. So it melts quick on hot days. My favorite for some reason a butter scotch Malt has stuck with me as a kid, if I go anywhere else in order malt it's always chocolate. And if it's a shake I tend to just go for vanilla and every it's in a while strawberry. But if i go to Alice's Place, it's really tough for me to pass on a double cheeseburger well-done. And a Butter Scotch Malt. If you're in for something different try that. And make sure you say hi to Audrey, she works really hard, to get the orders out quickly working in a very small space. The only reason this place is getting one star is because I have to to leave a review. I just spent $25 (including a $4.75 tip) and walked away with one sundae after being told I wasted product. Unbelievable! Two sundaes and 2 PB&J Sandwiches were ordered. What came out was one sundae correctly and then two peanut butter shakes followed by another completely incorrect sundae. When the staff was told about it, I was told to take what I have because we had already wasted enough product. We?! Seriously?! Money was not refunded and the staff was incredibly rude, especially it being their mistake. read more

The staff is really kind and friendly here. Dipped cones are great but I love the old school chocolate and vanilla swirled cones. Every time we are near here we grab some cones. The kids love them. They have benches outside so you can sit and be as messy as you'd like because you're out doors. Super cute place. read more

A traditional ice cream stand. Despite being crowded, service was quick and efficient and the menu looked to ve large and varied. The turtle sundae was quite good and hit the spot after dinner at the Fisherman's Inn. Only drawback is the nearby train tracks. Alice's Place looks like a typical ice cream stand. It is great place to stop for a cool treat if you are out on a leisurely country drive. Counter seating is extremely limited inside. They do have some patio furniture setup outside behind the place, but I believe that the majority of the people that stop here get their food to go and eat in the car. The ice cream served is smooth and tasty. As another reviewer mentioned, the Turtle Sundaes are really good. I haven't explored their vast menu because every time I stop at Alice's, its the Turtle Sundaes that I crave and buy. Their cheese fries are really good, too. The staff is extremely friendly and quick. They provide excellent service and always have a smile. Our children get lots of attention at Alice's Place and always look forward to a visit when we are in town. This is a great place to take the family. Keep in mind that it is a seasonal business and they are are not open during the winter months. read more

I have lived in the area for a long time but I refuse to go back to Alice's. The last time I went was four years ago and I can honestly say that I have never been treated more rudely anywhere and this was by the owner. I was shocked and offended. Went there last fall. Spent $9.45 and could not believe how little ice cream we had in our very large containers. We went back to give them another try. We ordered a small vanilla dipped in chocolate and a large chocolate malt. It was more like a kids meal cone and we truly believe just a teaspoon of chocolate in our malt that had an OVERWHELMING amount of malted. We will never go back again. Way too pricey for such tiny amounts and poor quality. Local place so that's where it's customer base is. We will just keep driving by next time. read more
