I got the chance to have some donuts from Dimples. A representative brought about 3 dozen to work. The people at work raved about the donuts. At first I was unaware of the donuts, until I heard several people ask where did the donuts come from. I of course found the treats in the break room and tried a glazed, red velvet cake, and a cinnamon roll. The glazed was large, a lot more light and fluffy than the average donut, and semi sweet. The cinnamon roll was the same as the glazed with cinnamon in between. The red velvet was of good size also and had a slight red velvet flavor to it. Had a bad first time experience. Got 2 hot drinks and a sausage egg and cheese croissant sandwich. The drinks were not good and the croissant tasted stale. Then, the receipt total did not add up with what we ordered. There was no breakdown of items on the receipt so couldn't tell what they overcharged us for, but it was about $5 over. read more

Since Dunkin' didn't have the donuts I wanted, I decided to try Dimples Donuts in Batavia. A sign in the window said their donuts were rated best in Kane County in 2021. Clearly a looong time ago. I went in and found virtually an empty room - a couple of tables, a counter and a very small donut case with few choices. Granted, this was at 1:30 pm so I didn't expect a large inventory of donuts on hand. I chose a glazed, a chocolate frosted yeast, and an apple fritter. The fritter was obviously over-fried but I took it anyway. All I tasted was grease, like something from a cheap carnival stand. The other 2 were just barely edible due to being stale. I understand that they weren't fresh, but even Meijer donuts still taste good at 2 in the afternoon. For the $7.60 I paid, I could have gotten 6 or 7 donuts at Meijer that I could have eaten. Continuing on my quest for the perfect donut, we made a stop at Dimple Donuts for a sweet weekend treat. It's located in a somewhat rundown strip mall, and the interior is likewise kind of rundown. We picked up a yeast sugar donut, a vanilla cream-filled donut, and a vanilla sprinkled donut. The lady was nice and threw in a bunch of plain glazed donut holes for my son. Sadly, the donuts weren't great. The vanilla frosting on the sprinkled donut had a strange aftertaste. And the vanilla cream inside the filled donut had a very artificial taste/texture to it (i.e. like greasy hydrogenated oil). The dough part and chocolate glaze were fine, though. I tried a bite of a donut hole, but it tasted stale. Just last week we had amazing donuts from Gurnee Donuts, so Dimple had a very strong benchmark to compete against. I was browsing through Yelp and came across pictures of this place and had to come check it out. With a name like Dimple Donuts, I made the effort to put on some pants and head outside. Nothing was getting in my way of donuts. So I was half expecting the wall of donuts as I saw in one of the Yelp pictures, but it was not to be. Not sure when that was taken, but not in the recent past. I consoled myself with a selection of 6 donuts. The lady working there was very nice and even threw in an extra donut for me. I felt like a winner. Although a small part of me wished she had picked a different donut rather than a duplicate one as the freebie, but nobody is complaining. The donuts were tasty, but I was hoping there were more exotic ones that I didn't see. Went here today, they had very few doughnuts, one person behind the counter, and one other customer in the store with us. I asked for 12 doughnuts (a dozen) I ordered the doughnuts 3 of them were in the back (probably from yesterday) I hear a microwave going and shortly after the beeping from said microwave I get 11 of the 12 doughnuts. I am in a bit of a hurry so I don't have time to check to see if they are all there. So I get my daughter to school and bring the rest home just to figure out I only got 11 doughnuts and none of them were fresh. They all taste like at least a day old. My chocolate long johns were melted and terrible. If I'm paying $16.99 for doughnuts at least have them fresh. read more

Every single donut has a grease after taste. My husband and I went there because they were the only place that sold buttermilk donuts we could find. When we went to get a dozen buttermilk donuts we were told rudely NO! We could only get 3. So we forced ourselves to try the other donuts. The better donuts were the cake and the buttermilk but the basic donuts aren't good at all. You will also notice the place looked very very run down. I would not go back at all! read more

Finally I found a donut place that isn't Dunkin' and is not far away from my house. The bonus is their donuts are amazing! They don't hold too long and get stale quick but they are delicious enjoy where that won't be a problem I decided to check this location out after work, Sunday morning. The parking lot was 50% full and the location is very small. There was a very friendly lady working there I bought the cream filled, raspberry filled, and the maple bacon. All of them were moist, soft and sweet. It tasted very fresh and not processed/frozen like that other chain we know all about I am sad that after 24 hour later, my donuts were stale so they did not last that long after purchase. Lovely little town; cool old-fashioned independent doughnut shop; very nice people...but really weird apple fritter. It was flat, like a cookie. It was basically a large glazed cookie. It definitely had apples in it, but not that much cinnamon, if any. I ate it, but just couldn't get over the weird format. That lovely fritter texture was very much missed. I came here on a Friday around noon because I was crippled by a cruller craving. The selection was very minimal, barely filling one case, but the young woman was super friendly, and they had crullers in stock ;D I ordered the chocolate frosted cruller, along with the chocolate frosted old-fashioned. For the two, the total came to $2.02 after tax. The best cruller that I've had so far was from Herb's Bakery over in Elgin. Dimples' cruller was heavier in texture with more chocolate frosting. Still very good. The old-fashioned had crispy edges and wasn't overly sweet. The employee seemed to genuinely like her job, and it showed in her enthusiasm and cheerful service. She apologized for the small selection and told me that their apple fritters, donut holes, cake donuts are the most popular. The friendly service made me want to give Dimples another try, hopefully at an earlier time when they have more variety. read more

Cake donut heaven! The cake donuts are fresh with just the right amount of crisp to the outside. I'm not early riser, so I've never seen the early morning selection, but even arriving at 1 pm on a Saturday, there was a decent selection of donuts, muffins, and other items available. Prices are a little high ($1.25 for a single donut), but they do offer discounts for buying a half dozen or dozen. The girl who rang us up threw in a free donut for us. These donuts are KILLER! I live in Milwaukee, WI but I worked near Dimples for a year and I have been meaning to make a pilgrimage back just to get that goodness in me. Finally talked my husband into going when we were down in the Burbs hanging with family--still an extra 30 minutes out of our way but TOTALLY worth it! Everything here is good. Hoity toity desserts at about $10 a pop at a nice sit-down restaurant on a Saturday night have their time and place. Sometimes I just want a good ol' fashioned donut to help me ease pressure on the wallet, but eventually raise my health insurance costs. This is the place in the west burbs to get your donut fix. Believe the hype. Dimples Donuts produces some of the finest donuts that Tiffany and I have ever tasted. We've done Old Fashioned Donuts in Roseland, Dat, Dunkin, convenience and grocery stores, and an unhealthy amount of the small bakeries in between. Dimples is near the top. We purchase a 1/2 dozen, and the sweet, old Asian lady hooked us up with a couple of donut holes. All of them were very good to amazing. so good, in fact, that we ended up eating almost all six by the end of the night. All cake donuts were light and soft. And standard donuts had just enough bite to push aside your preconceptions of airy-ass donuts. None were too sweet, nor were any too crispy. Every donut was fresh, and remained so until about 10 hours at room temperature in Saran wrap. Devil's Food (cake) - Some cringe at too much chocolate, some love it. This donut was a healthy balance between the two. Nice, light cocoa flavor that was both satisfying and not too strong. The flavor was accompanied by a pillowy cake base and light glaze of hardened sugar. Bavarian Cream (standard) - Although very good, this donut fell short when compared to all of the others. There was a little too much chocolate frosting that tasted like Betty Crocker, and the cream was nothing special. The standard base was good. Overall, it was still a solid donut. Glazed (standard) - Your standard donut texture, only glazed in the perfect amount of sugar. Not too melty, and the right amount of bite. Sprinkles (standard) - Just like the Glazed, it was a standard base texture with an optimal amount of glaze. This one had sprinkles, though. Does anyone modify or make their own sprinkles? Not much to mention here except that it was similarly delicious to the donut mentioned above. Sugar raised (standard) - Good bite, just not enough sugar this time. Too bready for my tastes. A little more sugar, and it could have been a little better. Old-fashioned - The granddaddy of their donuts. A cakey buttermilk rendition of their glazed donut with even more glaze and more crunch. Once again, not overly sweet or crunchy, and just the right amount of softness. This old-fashioned donut trumps the one from Old-Fashioned in Roseland. I'd place this donut in the same class as Krispy Kreme. The atmosphere is nothing to write about. It's a donut shop for crying out loud. It is larger than your average shop though. The old lady was so cute, and she hooked us up with a couple free donut holes. Needless to say, we were pleased with the service. At about $0.89 per donut, under $5 for a 1/2 dozen, and $7.99 for a dozen, Dimples remains competitive with Dunkin on price alone. It easily bests Dunkin on taste though. Overall, we loved all of the cake donuts and the old-fashioned. Definitely worth the visit if you're within 15-20 miles. Recommended. read more

I think I am a weird donut binge...I went in today for a few donuts and while the place isn't extraordinary looking it is clean and well kept. As soon as I walked in I smelled wonderful donutness and was greeted by a wonderfully nice young lady. I went in around 230 PM and there were still many wonderfully fresh donuts. I ordered 1/2 a dozen and as I was checking out the lady threw in 2 more for free. I went home and had one and was in heaven...I had a eclair donut and it was wonderfully filled (I have had some other ones at other places that were hardly filled). The donuts were reasonably priced, fresh and great customer service! I'll be back. :) read more
