Descent donut shop with classic donut selections. I hit the shop around noon and there was a good selection of donuts still left. The donuts held up pretty good over time. The raised yeast donut was slightly better than the cake donuts and none were too sweet. These donuts will do in a pinch. read more

So I would say that this restaurant is a hidden gem, but since having learned that has earned the exclusive title of "Best Donut Shop in Kane County" there is nothing "hidden" ( nor should there be) about this terrific place. Tucked away, at the corner of an unassuming strip mall, behind a Mc Donalds is Fresh Donuts. Once inside, I was warmly greeted by a lady wearing a huge smile. Her hospitality makes the ambiance even better. I was impressed by the large selection and variety of donuts. Patrons can also order hot breakfast sandwiches made to order. Let me tell you, I absolutely understand why Fresh Donuts has earned their title. They offer some of the best donuts I've EVER had and I have had a few. The chocolate donut tastes so chocolaty and heavenly. I thought, where have you been all my life? My husband I decided to also try the hot breakfast sandwiches. You know what, they were excellent too. So fresh and yummy. Do try the biscuit sandwich. It will not disappoint. We saw this donut shop when driving through the area. I chose the croissant, bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, even though someone recommended the bagel one too. I went with the croissant because they looked so good. They were! Making the sandwich seemed to deflate the croissant but not affect the flavor. The bacon was cooked a little more than I prefer but the flavor was good. I added ketchup and a bit of hot sauce too. I appreciate the egg was a fresh fried one. Now we live in Minnesota but every time we return to the area (3-4 times a year), one of our stops is always Fresh Donuts. The owners are very kind and acknowledge us when we come in. I thought the donuts were fine. Nothing creative in terms of flavors. I was happy to see they had both pumpkin glazed donuts and apple cider donuts. They only had one vanilla cake donut with vanilla frosting. Last time I stopped in they were sold out of all cake donuts, so I was glad at least there was one of my favorites left! The coffee situation is disappointing - only regular coffee with plain cream or some flavored options that come out of a machine behind the counter.
