We visited DeEtta's Bakery as part of our AmazeCo experience and unfortunately had a pretty disappointing experience. When we walked in, the bakery was completely empty, yet staff helped customers who came in after us while we stood at the register waiting for several minutes before finally speaking up. Once we mentioned we were there for AmazeCo, the employee helping us initially tried to hand us someone else's order even after we gave our name. After finally locating our box, we discovered it only contained croissants with bacon and ham. We explained that one person in our group cannot eat pork and asked if there was any possibility of exchanging an item, especially since every other stop on the AmazeCo experience was accommodating of dietary restrictions. The response we received was simply, "That sucks," with no attempt to help or offer an alternative. The lack of customer service and professionalism really left a bad impression, especially considering the positive experiences we had everywhere else that day. read more

Probably the best Boston cream donut I've ever had! DeEtta's bakery offers pies, cookies, cakes, muffins and donuts (donuts offered Friday - Sunday). They also have coffees as well. This small shop does not have any seating. It is a grab n go place that way you're able to devour their sweets in peace haha. The donuts aren't labeled which made it hard for me to decide what I wanted. I did ask the staff member what some of them were which took a few extra minutes. I also did not see a sign for how much their donuts are. I stopped in on a Saturday around 830am and it was BUSY. A couple came in to pick up their custom made wedding cake while others were there for a Saturday sweet treat. Staff members were friendly and on top of their game. I got 2 donuts, Boston cream and maple pecan. Both were delicious and fresh. The Boston cream donut is a show stopper. It was thicccck and filled with a generous amount of custard. The dough was fluffy and the chocolate on top was not overly sweet. read more

Excellent bakery! Great donuts-especially the lemon available in the summer. Kind of out of the way in an industrial park but worth it.

They had a pretty nice variety of tasty looking desserts. The cinnamon rolls were sold out when we arrived, so get there early if you want those. I was not a fan of the cake pops I had, but everything else was delicious. The salted caramel brownie was one of the best I've ever had. Kolaskis were buttery and yummy. I tried coming the last time I was in town, but like a dummy I did not realize it was Fat Tuesday. Parking along the storefront makes it pretty easy to get in and out, I came very early since I didn't know what I was going to get. First off, pro tip- doughnuts are only done on Friday/Saturday/Sundays here. So I ended up working with Sue (very helpful) in picking out a few items for the office, like coffee cake, scones, and a few fruit turnovers. This is not like a Dunkin' Donuts here folks. It's hand made, quality ingredients and craftsmanship. I spent a good amount of $, however this is not often I am in town and at our offices. Great experience working with DeEtta's for our wedding cake. They are the preferred bakery with Cantigny, so we went with them. Cake tasting was super fun. We went with a white cake, strawberry filling, and American buttercream. It was delicious and our guests loved it. Took some to go and very tasty days later. We ordered the almond cake with cannoli cream for a reception in Chicago. Oh my goodness, this is one of the softest cakes I've ever had. The frosting was delicious but not too sweet and very creamy. The team at DeEtta's was incredibly helpful and professional from start to finish. They were efficient with the tasting, helpful in picking the design and flavors and it was a seamless experience. My only qualm is that we did not get to see the cake before it was cut and we did not get to take any home. I will definitely be back for more cake! read more

The pastries are fine, I like Fiene's better, including for packzi day. First of all, their website lists both phone and email for "contact us" so I sent an email asking about cheesecake pricing. All they said was "please call us to discuss". Like why bother with the email option then. I pressed further for communication via email and they literally replied "$42." No, "Thank you for your inquiry, one cheescake costs x amount". I was off-put as it felt like I was literally bothering this person but still decided to give them a shot. I ordered the cheesecake for my sister's birthday and it tasted very salty, it was very disappointing and no one in my family liked it, we each had a slice and didn't want any of the leftovers which was most of the cake. Last year we ordered from Fiene's and it was delicious. Since I've been reading the lower star reviews where the owner likes to become the victim and say "Oh I guess it was easier to leave a review than reach out :((((", well guess what, I did reach out and relayed that no one in my family liked the cake and all they said was "that's the recipe". No apology and no consideration as to if maybe there was a mistake and it actually was made with salted butter or extra salt or something. So, yes, I will be putting in the effort to make this review even if in fact it was marginally easier to reach out privately, because there was no results and also I'd like to provide my public feedback. I was already hesitant to place an order because whoever replies to these reviews and emails seems to have a nasty attitude and always places blame back on the customer. Raw cinnamon roll? This was a spur of the moment stop when I had driven out to this strip mall today to go to another store. As we were driving through the parking lot, I noticed alot of people coming and going from this bakery. They put a tray of strawberry cream filled donuts out in the case. When I picked up the bag that she put my donut in, I thought "How many did she put in the bag ? It was so heavy. There was only one donut in there. That gives you an idea of how big the donut was. I loved it. The strawberry cream filling was lighter and I think a little bit less sweet than a traditional jelly filling. The double chocolate chip cookie was soft. Ngl, I was so excited to come here that I didn't sleep much the night before! I got the incredible strawberry cream donut. Fresh strawberry cream filled donut with frosting and a pie like crumble on top. It was like having a strawberry cream diner pie. The crème diplomat in the chocolate custard donut was also tasty. Not overly sweet where the sugar drowns out the chocolate like other places. We definitely lucked out during the Fourth of July weekend - NO LINE! Score! The service was friendly and helpful. I had the worst experience at this bakery !! I purchased 4 pies and cheesecake for my work because we had pie day at work !! I spend 120 dollars and the staff was not helpful .. she said they don't sell gluten free and I checked the website and it says they do!! I asked if they have some bag for the pies and she said it wouldn't fit and I can make couple trips to my car and didn't even offer to help me load it in my car !! This lady doesn't care at all and she didn't even close the pie box she let me do all the work for her !! Rude lady!! Stopped in while I was in the area for business. I had been recommended here by family and was told it was great. When I walked in I was happy to see that they serve Modest coffee a local coffee roaster. Always love supporting local businesses. Service was extremely disappointing, the staff were not welcoming or friendly. Service moved very slow but rushed me while ordering. It felt very much like a hurry up and wait scenario. There was only one other customer there at the time. I tried a variety of items including a scone which was nothing special it lacked the dryness that I look for in a scone. It was almost soggy how moist it was. The cinnamon roll was huge but bland and not worth the calories for me. Finally the kolaches were above average. Buttery layers and a healthy portion of jam, these are the only things i can say were worth a visit here. Lack of seating is another issue I was hoping to eat my baked goods right away. There was no silverware or utensils to eat the cake in a jar they sell. I would highly rethink coming here, there are much better options for bakeries. read more

One of the best cannolis we've ever had...and D'Etta's knows it. Product (and in this case, pastry) swag goes a LONG way with us. If you have swag AND can back it up, we'll love you forever. We brought a box of cannolis to our friend's house (they even travel well) to surprise him after treating us to an evening of homemade pizzas (last pic). While normally, we'd review a business ourselves, we'd like to pass along his sentiment because he's taken cooking classes in Italy and has made cannolis for years. I ordered a sheet white cake with Italian (light) buttercream frosting with custard and fresh strawberry filling...Mmm, mmm, good! My guests loved it and almost ate the entire thing. Ordering was easy and I only had a little less than a week, and because of short notice they could not elaborate on any design but we agreed on a simple design and they decorated it just as I asked. (Give them a couple of weeks to get a more elaborate design). I can't wait to order my next one! My daughter picked the cake up for me at approx. 7:30AM and she said the line was out the door. DeEtta's recently did my wedding cake and sweets for my bridal shower! Wedding cake has a bad reputation... I've had plenty that are dry and lack flavor but ours was the complete opposite! Our cake was beautiful, flavorful and so moist. I wish I would have had time to eat more! My only gripe was during the planning process. It was very simple to do an at-home tasting, but when it came to design, the consultant I worked with was not super friendly and basically told me that what I had chosen wouldn't look good (even though I had several pictures of exactly what I wanted which were simple and beautiful). In the end it all worked out, but it made me really hesitant about the process. The cake didn't look how I wanted, but it was still nice. With that being said, the cake was delicious and I would absolutely order from them again. read more

It was one month leading up to my firstborn's 3-year birthday and I found myself scrambling for a custom cake. Several bakeries mentioned they were completely booked for the month and some bakeries didn't even respond to my quote inquiry. DeEtta's was quick to respond with the detail and the order confirmation process was straight-forward. There are no order cancellations and/or refunds after an order is confirmed and paid for. The custom cake size has to be a minimum of eight inches. With our cake design and cake flavor, vanilla custard, our order came out close to $200. This is by far the most expensive custom birthday cake that I have ever purchased. However, I must say it was money well spent for several reasons: 1) Our cake design is relatively simple but these are the ones that are the most difficult to properly execute because it's easy to spot the cracks and smears. Our cake's outcome was immaculate! The lines were so clean and neat. I didn't even want to cut into the cake. 2) DeEtta's treated the cake with the upmost care. The giraffe and number 3 cake toppers were placed in a separate box from the cake. Both items have bundled up plastic wrap to cushion them and prevent them from tumbling. The number was laid flat which is thoughtful and smart move. In the past, other bakeries would have the cake assembled for me and the number would usually crack because it was too thin to be standing for several hours and most boxes aren't tall enough to begin with. 3) Giraffes are our firstborn's favorite and the grin on her face when she first saw the cake was priceless. 4) DeEtta's was not lying when they said the vanilla custard flavor is popular. Our firstborn does not have a sweet tooth and would usually reject dessert after the first bite. With this cake, she ate nearly half of her slice. I was grinning from ear to ear. I was eying the donuts as I waited in line to pick up my cake. I cannot wait to return and pick up a dozen. read more

It's that of year again. I wait patiently for months until fall arrives and I can order DeEtta's Cranberry Nantucket pie. I only eat it at Thanksgiving time, but I always hide the last of it and eat it in secret the day after. Greedy, I know. I've been to so many doughnut shops and DeEtta's is still my very favorite. I'm always disappointed when I eat doughnuts from other shops. They don't have any fancy flavors, but what they do have is perfection. This is our go-to bakery. They have a great selection of baked goods and they are always fresh tasting. We come here to grab donuts a couple times per month. My child loves their cake balls.. they are about twice the size of the Starbucks cake pops and the same price (and more moist/better tasting). The staff is usually pretty friendly, although sometimes it does feel a bit rushed (usually always busy). We do wish there was seating but it isnt a deal breaker. read more

Only reviewing doughnuts here. They have a beautiful variety of bakery, cookies, pies and doughnuts on certain days. I have had their doughnuts from the farmers market, the chocolate old fashioned. Remember them being very good so came to get some Christmas Eve. Line was very long which is a good sign. People who preordered got in sooner and was smart. I didn't have to wait too long. Was only getting doughnuts. Loved the selection. Cinnamon rolls are huge, they were nice and soft. I would have liked a little doughier but they were good. The cake doughnuts were strangely my favorite. A tiny bit on the dry side but not offensive. The frosting was extra thick and not too thin like some. Couldn't taste the maple on the maple cake. The chocolate filled I will pass on next time. The filling is too thick like a brownie or cake frosting. I would never snub too much but in this case I did. Took a bite and that was it. The old fashioned doughnuts were tasty too. not what I remembered but still good For proximity it's a good stop. I would give a 3.75 but that's not an option.Nice people working and lots to offer. I was referred here by my aunt who's an event planner (shout out to Arnita's Elegant Events). I was feeling bummed because no other bakeries were available and my 40th birthday was in 2 days. This place was 15 minutes from my home, so I decided to give them a try. Not only were they able to fulfill my order in two days, but the cake was absolutely AMAZINGGGG!!! I asked for something cute and girly with pink and purple flowers. The cake turned out beautiful. The cake layers were so moist and delicious. The chocolate cake layer was probably the best chocolate cake I've ever had from a bakery. It tasted homemade, not the overly processed box stuff. They don't taste like they have a thousand ingredients either! I am a convert! I've had donuts from plenty of other places like Firecakes, Stan's, and such, but support local. DeEtta's has them beat on quality, price, and service. They also serve Modest coffee here. You can buy some to brew at home as well. I came on a Monday looking for a Boston Kreme donut but I was told that they only have donuts in the weekends so that was sad. But she did say that the eclairs have the same filling but just different dough. I was hesitant to try, but she was very convincing, telling me how they were STUFFED with Kreme and super big and heavy. I'm so glad she talked me into it, because it was the best eclair I've ever had!! She wasn't kidding when she said they were big and heavy. It's huge and they do not skimp on the cream. They were completely filled with cream which I loved. I was never a huge fan of eclairs but DeEtta's eclairs are next level and have completely changed my viewpoint on them. The cinnamon rolls are HUGE. So I just had to pick one up. They were sweet and had good flavor but it was very dense and there was no way I could finish one. Definitely a good cinnamon roll, but I preferred the lighter creamy eclair over this thick and gooey heavy cinnamon roll. If you're in the area. You NEED to stop by and try an eclair. For nearly a decade we have been going to DeEtta's Bakery every Saturday for our weekend delights. Our favorites are the scones and old fashioned donuts. Now and then, we splurge on a Boston Cream and their fabulous tarts ... I especially love their fruity ones. The eclairs are huge and amazing. The cinnamon rolls are ginormous and delicious. My kids love the decorated cookies, and they even taste great. The donuts are fantastic. The lemon bars are unique, and probably one of my favorite items. And the Boston cream and strawberry filled donuts are fought over at my house. Response: I understand that the cost of everything is higher. But the cost of items is up, partially with the understanding that the cost of packaging is built in. If I bought one item, I would get a box. If I came back later to buy another, would I be charged 75 cents for another box?
