I stopped by Slow Drip and ordered a caramel Drip-a-ccino with oat milk. I asked if it could be made with a stronger coffee flavor because I really like my coffee bold. The barista was very nice and helpful. She explained that their coffee is already strong and offered to do a lighter caramel drizzle, which I appreciated. I usually avoid iced coffee because it can taste watered down to me, but I figured a blended drink might be different. Unfortunately, when I took my first sip, it still tasted watery and not as strong as I was hoping for. I think it may have just needed more coffee flavor overall, so I was a little disappointed with the drink itself. The space was nice, though. It had couches, seating throughout, and enough room for small groups to sit and hang out. Overall, the barista was kind and tried to be helpful, but the drink just was not executed the way I had hoped. Their grab n go drinks don't seem like a great deal, but the are fast and convenient, so understandable that it'd come with a little more cost. Comfortable seating inside, but some areas feel a little tight if you need to walk past others standing around. Their coffee was definitely some of the best tasting in the area. Their process works! Getting just a black coffee still had great flavor, almost a sweetness from the beans, and ZERO burnt flavor. The main letdown for me was the breakfast taco. I ordered bacon and egg but had a hard time finding any bacon. My husband got the steak and egg and that one was MUCH better, with a 50/50 egg to steak ratio. Slow Drip is a little different from the standard coffee shop, and with that a great find! Unlike most coffee shops that offer largely espresso based drinks, the primary focus at Slow Drip centers around their 9-hour slow dripping method. Iced drinks are prepared with this concentrated coffee as the base with milk and flavor added per preference. They offer a number of milk options including whole, low fat, almond, oat and coconut and alternative milks are no extra charge (PRAISE!) Flavors include brown sugar, vanilla, honey cinnamon, and mocha. The baristas are also more than happy to reduce the sweetness level of the drink if requested. Nice! Standard espresso based drinks are also available. They also offer a wide selection of their iced coffees in bottled form for easy grab and go, plus pastries and breakfast tacos (vegan option available!) It's worth mentioning that they do have a couple of specials to take advantage of - show your metro card for 10% off (the metro rail Bell Station stop is just one block away) and purchase a $50 gift card and get a free iced coffee. I love this downtown coffee shop!! I have been to this coffee shop twice now to order to-go. it may be too sweet for me but their cold brew coffee is good and has enough caffeine to my liking. I ordered the brown sugar oat and vanilla oat and these were pretty good. The service is sometimes slow but they are nice. First impression was that they are so friendly! As soon as we walked in, they were excited to tell us about their unique cold brew process and give us samples since we were visiting for the first time, and everything was delicious. I liked the build your own cold brew experience too, with no uncharge for alternative milks. Thank you kindly because we were indeed first timers! Landed on the Build Your Own 20 oz. Iced Drip coffees w/oat milk - Brown Sugar and Honey Cinnamon flavors. They were both delicious. Pro Tip: Ask for Extra Strength! Just be mindful because that shit hits! Haha! The ambience is a combination of chill and upbeat. While there is ample seating, I don't foresee myself studying or doing any work here. It's an ideal spot to catch up with friends or for a quick coffee date. I used to enjoy coming to Slow Drip HTX, but after my last experience I unfortunately won't be returning. I asked for a drink with no ice, which I didn't think was an unusual request. The owner seemed irritated and pushed me to just buy a premade bottled drink instead. I politely explained that I preferred the drink I originally asked for. When he handed me my pastry, I asked where my drink was. He told me he had charged me for a bottle, which wasn't what I ordered. I asked for a refund since that's not what I requested. At that point he became persistent about making the drink I originally asked for. When he finally handed it to me, the cup wasn't even full, which just added to the frustration. The interaction felt unnecessarily tense over a simple request. That was my sign to just go back to Starbucks -- honestly, the matcha tastes better there anyway. read more

My go to coffee has been the Vanilla latte... lol I'm obsessed. The froth and foam is perfect. They also have a nice variety of breakfast options to pick from as well. Great coffee! They have a cool process where they "slow drip" the coffee for I think 9 hours. They use local coffee roasters. I got an iced coffee (black) and it was very smooth and fantastic. It's a real cool place with great Houston decor and a real chill vibe. There is some parking there to which is great. 10/10 I would go back. My wife did get an iced coffee with vanilla. When we walked in, the girl behind the counter asked if it was our first time, and then offered us some samples, which was very appreciated. What we sampled was delicious, but I drink my coffee black, so I just went with that. It tasted like very bold, but very pure cold brew coffee. We also took home a bottle of the coconut cold brew, which was light and delicious. When we are in Houston, we are almost always on the lookout for a new coffee shop, but it will be tough to resist just coming here instead of trying to find a new place. read more

I had the iced brown sugar oat and it was great. It's not watered down with too much ice and milk, it's the PERFECT color, even for all of those picky coffee drinkers out there. 5 stars on Yelp, 5 starts on Google, and they deserve every bit of it. I had about 14 hours in Houston for a meeting, and the only 20 minutes I got outside of the hotel and meeting was to grab a coffee at Slow Drip. I was running on about 3 hours of sleep and read good things about their individually dripped ice coffees, and they blend them for free. There's no charge for alternative milks - I went with almond. Syrups are $1, and I usually don't add syrup, but since the brown sugar was their signature, I went for it. The coffee was smooth and kept me going. Think: Frappuccino with legit coffee that doesn't just taste like sugar. Their coffees are also available by the bottle in a case. They do have seating, and staff are very friendly. Order ahead is available - it wasn't too busy on a Friday at 7am downtown, but I could see it being busy later and on weekends. read more

I asked for my order iced with their source of sweetener black. Tasty cup of Joe with the a helpful personnel to understand the process. Really cool concept of slow drip cold brews. I'm usually not a fan of black coffee drinks but tried theirs and it was smooth. No bitterness to it.
