It was our first time trying Slim Chickens and we were very pleased with the quality and taste of the food. Even the fries were delicious and I don't usually go crazy about fries at any place. It reminded me of a good chicken chain down south that I enjoy when I visit (Foosackly's). However, the employee at the drive through made an unnecessary/rude comment about my vehicle which is the only reason why this isn't a 5 star review. My husband and I live on a farm 120 miles away from SF. We frequently travel gravel roads & have to drive in mud, just like 90% of the population of South Dakota that lives outside the cities/towns. We were only in Sioux Falls so my husband could see a specialist at Avera, and decided to grab lunch afterwards. I was hoping for good chicken, which I received- I was not hoping for a judgemental remark about the fact that my car was dirty/muddy. After taking payment & handing us our food, the drive through guy said, "You must live on a farm or something, your car is really dirty." Surprised, I half smiled and said yes, we do live on a farm 120 miles outside of town, it's been muddy." He responded with, "I would never let MY vehicle get like that." I almost let myself blurt out a rude comeback, but politeness won so I just chuckled and said "Okay then" and drove away. My husband shouted something not as nice as we were pulling away but I'm pretty sure the guy had closed the window so I don't think he heard. Not sure how long the man has lived in South Dakota but if he isn't used to seeing muddy cars he at least needs to learn to keep his remarks to himself. I'm glad I didn't say something rude, because looking back I think he may have been on the spectrum or otherwise neurodivergent. Maybe he struggles with interpersonal interactions. Still, I hope management has a talk with him & lets him know it's not appropriate to give his opinions on customers' vehicles...one day he might end up saying something to the wrong person. Nevertheless, rude worker or no, we will be back for the food. read more

My boyfriend and I had doubts about this place but from what we heard this place is delicious. My first thought was this was like Smashburger with the setup but they have a mouth watering menu for all your guilty southern pleasures. The Hungry Platter was so much food and the fact that I can substitute my fries for something else tasty is ingenious! The staff are super patient and are super friendly as well! The staff were very friendly, the food was served hot, delicious, and quickly. The atmosphere was friendly, open, and clean. Very comfortable restaurant. The weather outside was absolutely terrible and there were no vibes from the staff of having to leave promptly after we finished dining. I was really excited to try this, and was severely disappointed. First, the the cashier had a hacking cough and never covered his mouth. He was hacking all over everything. We decided to just pretend we didn't see and hope we don't get influenza. Then we asked for our sauce on the side, it came on the sandwich. The bun looked like it was stale and fell apart as soon as we picked up the sandwich. The sandwich taste was really just okay-ish. The tenders and fries were fine, but rather bland and honestly, the buttermilk crispy tenders from McD's are better. My toast looks like someone took a piece out of it. And lastly, they use styrofoam cups, which is crazy in 2019. Oh yes, and the girl delivering food held the tray right under her chin and was mouth breathing on it as she carried it to the tables: I am sad that this has such good reviews, as I can only deduce that these people have never had truly good chicken. read more

I've only been to your place a couple of times and I had to pick up some chicken tenders tonight through their drive-thru, but I decided to also try the fries. It's been a long time since I had really good fries, and that was to be a rare, but special treat... Both were awful. The fries seemed as though they were mixed, re-done old fries with new ones? and they were either burned or too soggy, which clearly points to being a mixed batch and tasted like grease (couldn't eat them after all that anticipation). We got the Chicken Strips once before and they were actually okay, but this time.... They were hard, like eating sticks and were not fresh. We had intermitten strings of hard chicken parts that was like chewing on leather (they were definitely not fresh)... I realize they may not have had a lot of customers today, but to serve food like that is unacceptable. I'm very disappointed. Not worth the money, especially the $18+ I spent. I have to say that Slim chickens here on Louise Avenue blew us out of the water!!!! Great service, clean, great music,. When we got her chicken I ordered the three chicken tenders and it came with hot fries , gravy , Texas toast and the chicken tenders were so fresh, so hot, juicy and well seasoned! My husband got the chicken and waffles which was a fresh hot waffle out of the waffle iron chicken tenders came with hot syrup and butter and had some strawberries on it. He said it was delicious. We would highly recommend going here as the girls working at the store we're constantly asking if we needed anything they were cleaning on downtime and busy helping customers I was very impressed. Are used to work in food service as a management professor food for many many years and saw that this establishment had it all together. Well done! read more

My "curbside order" sat on their counter for 20 minutes and no one bothered to bring it out to the car. I had to wait in line to ask what happened to my online order - then they gave it to me without my drinks. I finally just took drink cups and got sodas since they were also completely out of the lemonade I ordered and weren't making more. I will not give these guys another chance. read more

Love Slim Chickens but today they outdid themselves. I mistakenly placed an order for right away, then realized what I did and called them. I live 20 miles away. They said they'd put it back until I got there. Well, I didn't get there for another 45 minutes. When I called to say I was outside they said my order had been ready for a while. I told them I understood and it was my fault. When the server brought my meal out it was fresh and hot. They had made me a new meal. Very impressed with this considering it was my mistake. Great menu....lots of choices for dipping sauce, my favorite is Mango Jalapeño .ordered the 4 piece tender with a side of Cole slaw.......excellent choice and totally enjoyed the meal.Raspberry ice tea was also great! Very disappointed in their curb side option. I pulled up and waited almost 15 minutes before going in to get my food. Grabbed it off the counter was never acknowledged by anyone... so anyone can walk in and grab whatever they want? After I left I took a drink of my pop and I did not get the beverage I ordered. By the time I got to eat my chicken was cold so who knows how long it was sitting there. I will not waste my lunch break going there again. Today was our 3rd visit to Slim Chickens and by far the absolute worst!! I had a grilled chicken wrap. My hubby had the 3 tender meal he said it was really good. The wrap on the other hand was a disaster. It was bland and flavorless. It was supposed to have ranch on it and it tasted like a glob of Mayo I threw 3/4ths of it away. The manager called just now and offered money or a meal. He apologized for the terrible experience. For that reason I have added a star. The 1st time we ate here it was great 5 stars. Chicken Quality is great. Curbside pickup has been 5 minutes later than when indicated it will be ready. I have had to call or go in to get order each time. If a person is to call when arriving then that should be on sign outside. I think it is hard to see parking area for curbside from in restaurant perhaps area should be moved? read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE Just because the economy is "short staffed" It does NOT GIVE YOU A RIGHT to take advantage of other people. We don't use this location very often as we live on the other side of town and use Minnesota location almost every week. But that's about to change. I will NEVER EVER EVER give this chain another penny of our money. They think they are BIG SHOTS and can do whatever they want to people. They shorted us in our family pack and didn't have what was advertised and they wanted us to SPEND MORE MONEY TO GET ACCOMMODATED for what was lost to us. How does that work?! How about you make it right for being inconvenienced and short on our product. Why do we have to spend money to get a discount on what was wronged in the first place! Stupidest thing I have ever encountered. So make sure you count your tenders, check the amount of food and sauces you are suppose to have BEFORE you leave. They will NOT make it right and they don't care. Maybe they are money hungry after all and are not doing as well as people think they are if they are ripping people off. Called corporate but they don't care! Never answered the phone nor they never called back. General manager is SUPER RUDE! They lost our business for good! Chick Fillet has our business now. This was my second time going to Slim Chickens and it was just as much of a let down as the first time. Everything else like the fries, sauces, coleslaw and mac and cheese were really good but the chicken was just ok. The first time the chicken was soggy and the second time the chicken was only partially breaded and the parts of the chicken without breading were hard. When chicken is your main thing, it better be good. If Canes or Bo Jangles came to town, they'd put Slims under in a flash. read more
