After a long day on the road, we checked it at a local hotel. We asked the desk clerk to recommend a local place for dinner and he was quick to recommend Fryn Pan. He mentioned that they would offer a 20% discount for hotel guests. The diner was mostly empty at 9 pm but our service and the food has quite good. The menu is extensive, offering soups, salads, lots of breakfast items, sandwiches as well as dinner specials. My husband chose the salad bar + a BLT sandwich. I opted for the senior spaghetti dinner which included a dinner salad. We splurged and ordered dessert. Our total bill was around $25 for two adults (before tip) so I was very pleased with the price. When traveling we always try restaurants we don't have in our city. We saw several locations so we tried for late breakfast. The breakfast menu is not overly large which is nice compared to larger chain spots. Our server was nice & the service was quick as was the wait for the food. Everything tasted as we expected & had no complaints. The restaurant itself is a bit dated, reminded me of an early 80's type Sizzler decor but that didn't bother me that much. This place has been around since I was a child! I have some wonderful memories here, sadly enough though the place hasn't really "updated" it's dining rooms. One could consider this the "attitude" of the place but I call it outdated. The food however was delicious! My partner and I went in for just deserts but I'm sure the regular menu hasn't lost its touch. I am giving this place a lower review because the waitress who waited on us took forever. Thankful for them being open to get hot mug off coffee...they saved my day...they hooked me up with my 5am coffee fix while traveling. Later we headed on over for a hot breakfast of delicious bacon and French toast with more hot coffee So a big thank you from a girl who needs her morning cup of joe. We got the steak tips and it was super fatty and not cooked well. There was basically no seasoning. Like I think they put just the steak and oil in a pan. This was a perfect spot for a quick breakfast. The service was excellent and we got our food within 10 minutes. Maybe 5. I had the Denver Skillet which was the perfect size - not too much food. It came with cheese sauce. My husband does not like cheese sauce and asked for regular cheddar sprinkles on his omelet. He reports it was light and fluffy (the omelet, not the cheese). I passed on the pancake/toast/muffin option. Heartier appetites might want to include those. read more

Way before I met my totally sick girlfriend, this (sorta-) diner was where I first got my late-night cigarettes-and-coffee binges on, had the annoying old guys at the nearby tables try to chat us young-un's up, dealt with resident crazy people at 3am, ordered really, really bad food again and again. ... Fry'n Pan introduced me to the diner experience, which I then tried to enjoy for a few years in college before fairly well abandoning it. So it's "A-ok". Never, ever go here for the food. When you're in Sioux Falls, it's hard enough to find food that won't make you feel wiped out after you eat it. Don't punish yourself even further by coming here expecting not to feel like absolute shit after you eat. Come for the Fry'n Pan experience, if you come at all. Accept. On a recent trip to Sioux Falls, we ate here several times. It's diner food. Solid diner food, though, so as long as that's what you're expecting, you'll be happy. The thing that I remember really enjoying were their shakes. Very nice shakes. And old-school pies. I'm a big fan of old-school desserts -- especially if they're done well. I'd never had a slice of sour cream and raisin pie before, but I was damned if I was gonna go home without trying one there. Of course, I was also crazy full after dinner. So I conned a friend into splitting a slice. We couldn't finish it. All those fluffy, light meringue peaks. But it was so very delicious. The crust was light and flaky, and the taste of the pie itself was fantastic. Nice, moist raisins -- not those hard, dry things that look like insects and can't be chewed. One of the lightest meringues I've ever tasted, and nicely browned. If you're not a fan of diner food, get a drink and some pie and people-watch, like others here have said. Good times. Went on a Friday evening. The place was nice and clean with the salad bar fully stocked. Great prices -- $30 for two entrees and an all you can eat salad/soup bar. Portions are also quite large. The cajun fettuccine was decent. One concern was what another reviewer spoke about previously. The worker we paid our bill to had numerous scars and cuts on her arms that were suspicious for self harm. She also had an open, oozing cut on her hand. Cinnamon roll was the size of a small child's head. Pretty good food. We had a pretty long wait to get our food but we had a large party of 9. I really wanted to like this place but I simply cannot. We stopped for breakfast last week. The waitress came and took our drink order, and the coffee came quickly. From then on things went down hill. The coffee was luke warm at best. After placing our order it took a very long time to get our breakfast. We did not order anything unusual, but several other tables received their food long before we did. As for the food, the eggs were good, but the bacon was terribly overcooked. I love fryn' pans so much, and although this isn't the one I usually go to, it is the closest to where I work. I ate here earlier today right after a long shift at work and it was such a perfect atmosphere to calm down. tried some new food (the cinnamon roll french toast) and was blown away.
