First time eating at this location. We thought it was going to be a hole-in-the-wall, but it was a nice area of booths, tables and a bar. My significant other had the $9.00 appetizer Chislic. I ordered two Jumbo tenders and fries basket for $7.50. We both added on the salad bar for $2.99..... The Chislic was tender and beefy. My tenders were huge and had a light crispy coating both tenders. We especially loved the very fresh and crunchy vegetables in the salad bar. The most amazing experience from our visit was how attentive and caring the waitresses were. Didn't get any pictures, because we thought about it too late. However, I have not had better chicken anywhere. And the onion rings were exactly the kind of onion rings I like. My wife had the steak pieces for an appetizer and had to have them again for her main course, they were so good. They have actual, real root beer on tap. We were lucky enough to remember to save for dessert, for which we each had the brownie sundae - couldn't get enough of that. They have a very small but very well-maintained salad bar and some hot soup. They let you have a refillable salad with your meal for just 2 1/2 bucks. My husband and I were traveling from Wisconsin to California. The transmission in our car blew and we're were stranded for 6 days. We wondered into the MOST FRIENDLY place EVER! The service was impeccable! We came back every day! Becky & Cassie & the entire staff made us feel like part of the family. The soup was AMAZING! The salad bar was fresh & well maintained. Found this gem when wanting some chicken. The menu posted helps with the hard decision of what to eat. They have options for both pallets. The service was very friendly and helpful. You can do the dark or white or mixed. I only wish that some of the options were explained like the cheese balls are half naked or something. It did entice me to order. They were nice a greasy in a good way. Salty as cheese curds are always. Dipping them in ranch was enjoyable. And as I grew up calling it squeaky cheese, the frying kept them squeaky. I ordered a 4 piece dark. With potato salad and baked beans. The frying was flashed and chicken was juicy. Definitely you can tell it was fresh. The baked beans were great. Potato salad was not my favorite but others may like it. My other half got chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were good and tasty. The fries were not the best. When the Keg opened on the east side my first reaction was "meh ... so what? Another chicken joint. So what?" Boy ... was I ever wrong!!! In an effort to support local businesses we've been doing take-out a LOT and decided we'd try the Keg. Went online and ordered their "we'll bring it to your car" service. Good news is that it worked well. GREAT news is the chicken is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! I'm usually of the opinion that chicken is pretty much chicken --- but no more. Tried their lunch buffet last week.....will not do that again! Got there at 11:30 and they were packed but the kitchen could not keep up with the buffet. At any time there were 10 people in line, some of the wait time was 10 minutes to get thru the line. Problem was that they would bring out a pan of chicken, and it would empty fast, and it would take 10 minutes for them to refill. Stopped here on the way passing through heading to Texas. Tired of chain restaurants. It was PACKED when we entered, around 6:30pm on a Thursday evening. We got the last table. The only waitress was super busy, but had a great attitude. I heard her tell other customers that she loves it when it's busy! Took over 50 minutes to get our food. When you are traveling and need to put miles behind you, this isn't ideal. But the chicken was AMAZING!! Turns out there were several HUGE take out orders ahead of us (like 20 and 40 piece orders!). We didn't get checked on at all, but the server was amazingly busy. And she was FAST! Only reason for taking away a star was we weren't told of the up-charge of getting 2 sauces with the wings. Menu says $10 for 10 wings. Receipt shows $12.50 for 2 orders of 5 wings. If we would have been told that, we would have stuck with 1 sauce. Husband thought wings only ok. Have ordered from the Keg several times over the past year including just this evening. To-go order of 6 piece white, a pint of coleslaw, and a Chislic Basket w/Fries for a total of $28. When we got the food home we find the chicken to be minimal in size. The wings and breast pieces were tasty but so small!! My son had the Chislic and said it was okey. However, something seems to have happened lately. I came in tonight and it took over 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge me. I ordered the 4 piece mixed dinner. It comes with 2 sides. I chose the beans and potato wedges. 1st off the beans were barely even warm. 2nd there were only 5 very small wedges. Wedges tasted fine fir what i got. In the past the chicken was always moist and large pieces. Tonight the pieces were very small, but worse extremely dry. Dont know what has happened, but the Keg had gone from the best place for chicken in Sioux Falls to probably the worst. Service was mediocre at best. read more

Small wonders are found in Sioux Falls. I was happy that KFC has the all you can eat buffet (and will NEVER turn that down), but a friend there said to hit Bob's Chicken & The Keg. So Keg was it (Bob's was closed for the night). They have GREAT fried chicken. Crispy enough but wonderfully juicy inside!! The slaw is just somethin else!! Chicken pieces are big, fries are really good too. Since I don't like pepper or anything with heat, you can tell them no pepper and it's no problem. If you choose to eat in, it's cozy enough. There are booths & tv's are all over. If you prefer to sit out in the open they have tables and even stools at the bar if you're so inclined. They also sell t-shirts/sweatshirts with their name on it, hanging up on the walls. The washrooms are really neato too!! Food is on the CHEAP side!! Have on rare occasion had chicken on the buffet here that wasn't fresh, but that is rarely a problem. The buffet is simple, but outstanding! There is something to be said about the phrase "Jack of all trades, but master of none" when it comes to places trying to put too many things on the menu. This place specializes in chicken and they do it extremely well. Cannot accuse them of trying to do too many things and doing nothing well... $10.75 for buffet with drink (including tax) and well worth it! Staff AND management are amazing. There is a server there that has been there for a long time! Amy is very busy, running a high number of tables yet doesn't seem to miss a beat. Very attentive to keeping up on refills. Not only that, the guy who (if he isn't a manager, sure seems like one) is impressive himself. He isn't just a "boss", he's a leader and coworker. Even though I have never felt like wait staff was slow in in providing refills or clearing the table, he comes out and helps with the little things like that, helping staff not only keep up, be keep AHEAD of customer wants and expectations! read more

I first heard about this place on a Randy Santel channel on youtube who won their eating challenge. He gave a lot of compliments to the chicken. so when we prepared to spend a weekend in Sioux Falls for my niece's wedding (the last week of February, just before the travel lockdown), I insisted that we eat here at least once, as fried chicken is one of my very favorite dishes and our hotel was only a couple of miles away. And the place did not disappoint! It was crispy and juicy, well seasoned and I absolutely loved the taste! There were five of us present so we ordered one of the platters which was enough for a couple of pieces for each of us plus choice of sides. I don't remember which platter it was. Our server was great and kept our drinks filled. Afterward, there was just a single piece of chicken left that we sent with our friends since we were leaving the following day. I live in California and visit a couple of times a year to see my in-laws, and I can say without a doubt this will be a new regular place for me on every visit.
