Wet unassuming "joint". As you walk in you it looks like the place is closed but if you take a right turn you will be in a bar/ dinning room. Nothing flashy but very welcoming. They have several options of steaks and chicken. My dinner companions had the prime rib and I had a ribeye. Mine was tender and flavorful reports of the prime rib being good were given. I thought the sides were kind of lacking but not so much as to ruin the meal. Plus side (as of November 2022) a 14 oz ribeye was $18. If you are in Brandon South Dakota you need to try this place. read more

Had Friday night dinner with family. Tried their Buffalo chicken sandwich It was just ok. It came out with a slice of Swiss cheese on top and then s drizzle of Buffalo sauce. Was kind of plain and lacking taste. . A couple family members had the French dip sandwich and sandwich was big and they liked theirs. read more

We have eaten here a couple different times, the food is just OK but the prices state that they think it's better than it is. Baked potatoes you get butter and sour cream only even if you ask for other condiments. If I didn't have steak sauce I don't think I could've eaten my steak. read more

We usually frequent Brandon Steakhouse two or three times a month and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. The service is good, the prices and food are great. We typically go for their lunch between 11-2 & our meal is always really great quality and our total bill is usually about $25. Definitely a great family restaurant with great food, service and reasonable prices. We've had dinner there twice and the prices are a little more than theunch menu but they have really great steak and burgers!! Their cook knows what they're doing, we'll continue being loyal customers to Brandon Steakhouse. They don't disappoint!! read more

It's places like this you hope are diamonds in the rough. Unfortunately, it's just rough. The photo of the 22oz NY Strip for $23 seemed too good to be true, especially since it's aged and cut in house. Not sure how it was aged or who cut it, but it was the toughest steak I've ever had, and the weirdest looking NY Strip I've seen. For 22 ounces you would think it would have to be 3" thick. Nope. 1/2 inch but "wide", suggesting it was not a strip at all. Worse, it was not seasoned AT ALL! Zip, nada, nothing, not even a pinch of salt! Absent of any flavor whatsoever. Salad bar had no tomato, onion, cucumber, or Italian dressing. It did have pickled herring , sun flower seeds, and fake bacon bits. If potatoes are not your thing, you can choose the broccoli or green beans (fresh out of the can). read more

I live in the Minneapolis area but whenever I make my way to Sioux Falls I try to incorporate a stop at the Brandon steakhouse. It's one of those places that if they remodeled it they would wreck the atmosphere. I love the old school restaurant. I also think they have great draft beer and delicious food. Last night they were getting ready to close and they happily welcome to myself and two friends in for dinner. We live nearby and have had good food in the past but haven't eaten there in a while so thought we would try it. Defiantly disappointed. I Ordered Jumbo shrimp from the Sr Menu which is what I usually get there with a salad and Hashbrown 14.95. I got the salad and there was so much water on the place that it consumed all the dressing, so I poured all the water in the dressing container and it over flowed and still had water on my plate. Husband finished it. Got the 3 shrimp they were the size of a quarter, so I asked the waitress if these were the Jumbo and she told me maybe this shipment was smaller than usual, but they were bigger than the mini shrimp. Hashbrown were warm not hot. Won't go back!!!! So disappointed use to love this place. read more

We randomly stumbled on this place on our way through SD. We didn't want typical chain fast food. We called our order in and they had our order ready fast and the sirloin, shrimp and pasta were delicious. Step back in time of smoke filled rooms. No smoke but that's what you smell. Look if you are one of these it has to be sparky and new don't come here. I loved it. Only thing my server did not call me honey. Watching staff it appeared to me some were not happy people. Everyone did do their job. As to food salad bar super simple. I had The ribeye special and it was dam good again don't expect 5star meat. Wife had liver and onions did I mention onions just like it should be loaded. Oh looked so good. Bake potato came with meal. Yes I would return keep in mind I enjoyed the whole process decor smell food and service. I genuinely enjoy the Brandon Steakhouse. Is it always consistent? No. Do I always get my money's worth? Yes. Their smothered chicken breast, Steakhouse burger, and Smokehouse burger all bring me back. I would recommend trying their out of this world O'Brien hashbrowns. Huge chunks of thick cut bacon, lacy potatoes, and lots of onions and green peppers makes this a stand alone dish. (Oh how I wish they offered this as a breakfast special, smothered in cheese, with a few over easy eggs nestled on top.) I also love their salad bar. It all looks and tastes homemade (even the salad dressings are homemade). There's not alot of variety, but I'm ok with that as long as what they do have is done well, and it is. (Occasionally, I'll substitute those fantastic O'Briens for their California salad, and I never regret that I did.) I have to admit that every so often, I get a bad meal. The burger is over cooked and might have a off flavor, or the food isn't hot enough, but to me those things are minor. All the good meals I have there help to make up for the once-in-a-blue-moon bad ones. I also wish they had a slightly more imaginative kid's menu. Overall, I agree that the atmosphere is lacking, but they make up for it in good food, friendly and attentive waitstaff and a great meal with alot of food for not alot of money. read more

We went on Father's Day and it was really busy but the staff got us a table right away. The staff was also quick to get us menus but then took forever to take our order which happens when you are slammed. The salad bar had 4 or 5 items on it and the salad was about 10 minutes from being thrown in the trash. I wouldn't have fed that to my dog. We got our food and the presentation was OK. My steak looked like it would be good but I was fooled. The steak was cooked to my liking but had absolutely no flavor. It was like they cooked my steak to rare and then threw it in a pan of hot water until everything else was ready. My wife ordered the smothered chicken which was also a joke. It was two flattened chicken breast covered in sliced cheese and a few veggies. The best thing our table had was the kids shrimp and corn dogs. Sadly disappointed for a small town steak to have such garbage food. We won't be back. read more

My wife, her sister, my brother-in-law and I just finished dining here tonight. First of all, I have to say that it is a very established place that has been here since 1978. My wife's sister had the Chopped Sirloin plate with a baked potato; cooked just the way she likes it and still juicy and flavorful. My brother in law had the pan fried Walleye plate, also with a baked potato. The Walleye was well cooked with a light batter and no bones. Very delicious. My wife had the bountiful Seafood platter with a cod fillet, scallops, shrimp. All fried just right. I had the 14 oz Ribeye Steak cooked medium well just like I like it. Very tender, plenty of flavor and marbling. I'll have to eat that next time. "It's that good". We all had the baked potato and the free salad bar that comes with the dinner plates. The fresh bread brought to the table was homemade, hot, and fresh. By the way, the fresh cut salad bar and a potato are included with dinner. The service is very pleasant and friendly catering to our every need. The Brandon Steakhouse and Lounge has been around for 38 years as of 2016. Bob Miller the owner started this place back in 1978. They serve Lunch too. Give it a try. You can't go wrong. read more

Nope. That's what I say about the Brandon Steakhouse. I went with four other people for the first time tonight and none of us had really anything Good to say about any of the food. My daughter took two bites and couldn't finish her fish. It was severely undercooked. My steak was cooked well but had no real flavor so I had to douse it with steak sauce. My son had fried chicken but he said it was pretty bland. In hindsight, daughter had the French dip and she did enjoy it. My nephew mentioned that his burger was nothing to write home about. All in all, the food was not at all worth the ridiculous prices they charge. The atmosphere is drab and looks like it was last decorated in the 80's. We went to the Brandon Steakhouse on a Friday night. When we got their we were seated immediately. Its all about the food here as the atmosphere is not where you would want to go if its a real special occasion, or looking for a romantic date. The salad bar was quite good Like most salad bars in the area its was filled with pasta salads as well as lettuce. Toppings were the usual fare. I has a ribeye steak that was superb. It was cooked perfectly and had an abundant flavor. I highly recommend the Brandon steakhouse for the entree selections. Great food at a reasonable price. read more

Keep it simple. Get the Prime Rib, a loaded baked potato, and a beer. And double-check your bill. This place looks like every small-town steakhouse you encounter in the Midwest. Simple decor, probably the same chairs and plates that were in use back in the '70s. The menu is larger than I expected. The beer menu is decent - only two choices on tap, the remaining 20(ish) selections are bottled. Wine selections are alright. The salad bar, soup and desserts are all fresh. I was charmed by the block-o'cheese and pickled herring at the salad bar. Add all the Terry Redlin prints around the dining area. That's pure South Dakota :-) We had the 10 oz sirloin and 16 oz Prime Rib, both with Lyonnaise potatoes. My steak was good, came unseasoned, and was well marbled. The Prime Rib was exceptional!! The entrees come with a fresh-baked loaf of crusty white bread. Delivered to the table piping hot and brushed with real butter. mmmmm. Only the potatoes were disappointing. Expecting thick slices pan roasted in butter with onions and parsley (seriously, google Lyonnaise potatoes), instead we received grilled hashbrowns with onion and a melted slice of american cheese (what would be called 'smothered' anywhere else). They were edible, but man, they cost an extra $1.95 a piece! booo! I ordered a house cab sav and was overcharged - lesson learned: double-check the bill. For dessert I had the Ultimate Chocolate Cake. It was dense and rich and I couldn't finish it alone. We'll be back, but I'm gonna change what I order. read more

This is the 2nd time I've been to this place & I'm extremely disappointed! The price has risen tremendously, even a small prime rib costs $ 24.99. The salad bar has shrunk from last time & does not even have soup. I ordered the breaded fried shrimp which are burnt the 1st time, so I send them back. The 2nd time they still come back too done but inside seems raw. They must have not changed the grease for a while! I complained to the cashier & she said she'll let the cook know, I should have asked my money back! My husband orded the ribeye steak which he said is ok, but everyone else at the table who has orded steaks said the Texas Roadhouse has much better steaks. For one thing I don't understand why people in Sioux Falls even border to drive to Brandon to a restaurant, it's overly rated & everyone at our table said we'll never go there again! read more

Went to the steakhouse on a Friday night. Must get there early as weekends are busy. The salad bar isn't much to speak of, but the cheddar cheese block and crackers is great! Fresh hot bread is delicious. Steer clear of everything but the prime rib...cooked medium...AMAZING! read more
