Shopped here from time to time and mostly enjoyed the quality of the meat products. However, I don't think I will return.
On my last visit, I purchased a variety of items, most of which I stored in my home freezer. Yesterday, I decided it was time to enjoy some Pineapple Bratwurst. When I thawed the package, I noticed the label peeled away, revealing another label below.
The first indicated a "packed on" date of July 5, 2016 and the brats were priced at $5.95 per pound. The top label had a new "packed on" date of Sep 30, 2016" and the price was increased to $6.99 per pound.
First of all, it's a lie to have two different "packed on" dates. If the first sticker indicated July 5, that is the only date that should ever be indicated. They obviously wanted to hide that date since they added a new date with the second sticker. So, by doing so, they were clearly intentionally misleading with information they deem significant because it's one of the three items they add to their sticker (packed date, weight, price).
Secondly, it is reprehensible to increase the price of meat that they obviously know is old.
The right thing to do would have been to acknowledge the original date and offer a discount to move the product and suggest it be consumed immediately and cooked extra well.
Their practice disgusted me. read more
