This was the sweetest and most caring thing a restaurant has done for us even when they did not need to. They really went out of their way to give us a special night. This place is beautiful and perfectly decorated. It was a nice romantic night with some of the most fantastic food I have tried! We tried the 5 course tasting menu and it blew us away! One of the dishes were Beets and I don't even like beets but they made it taste so delicious I really don't know how they did it. Favorite dish was the fish dish in garlic sauce. We were blown away with all of the flavors we had that night. Like I said, please please please try this place at least once in your life!

The food alone or the wine alone are very, very good. Some of the dishes are divine, even. But it is in the pairing that the meal transcends, the components complementing and elevating each other. The menu changes constantly, kept current to Chef Bryan's dictates. So I won't try to predict or offer a guarantee that elements of my meal will be available. Instead, I can tell you of the harmony in flavors and textures found in my seared foie gras with black walnut marmalade and fig sorbet. or the surprise of how the slight formaldehyde note that lingered a bit past midway taste in the 2017 Hourglass Blueline Merlot disappeared and the wine gained complexity and harmony paired with the Roquefort toast. It is an art worth a detour to taste. Supported by the city, it has the promise of becoming worthy a journey on its own. Look

Having been part of downtown Sioux Falls since 1977, it carries the kind of history and familiarity that newer restaurants simply cannot manufacture overnight. My husband and I have slowly been working our way through many of the better-known downtown restaurants -- places like Minerva's, Mirabella Ristorante, Chef Lance's, and several others -- as part of our ongoing effort to really experience the local dining culture here in Sioux Falls. We have not completed our unofficial culinary checklist quite yet, but Minerva's was certainly an important stop along the way. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, my husband and I have a longstanding tradition whenever we celebrate special occasions together: We order French onion soup. It started years ago during one of our earliest dates and somehow became one of our little anniversary traditions over the decades. This particular version was actually quite good. Rich, savory, comforting, and full of deep onion flavor. Personally, I would have loved an even more generous layer of bubbling cheese and a little extra crostini on top, but otherwise it was genuinely delicious and very satisfying. The salads were also noticeably fresh and crisp, which we appreciated. One thing Minerva's does exceptionally well is presentation. The plating throughout the meal was elegant, polished, and thoughtfully done without feeling overly pretentious. For dinner, I ordered the sirloin alongside a baked potato, while my husband chose the ribeye with one of his favorite vegetables: asparagus. Thankfully, they prepared the asparagus beautifully. Not overcooked into limp surrender as happens far too often elsewhere, but still slightly crisp with excellent texture and freshness. The wild rice was another standout for us. Wonderfully balanced in texture -- neither dry nor overly firm -- and full of comforting earthy flavor that paired nicely with the steaks. And then came dessert. We ordered the ice cream cake finished with warm chocolate sauce poured over the top tableside, and honestly it was a wonderful ending to the evening. The rich velvety chocolate slowly melting into the creamy layers of the dessert was absolutely decadent and delicious. Now, the only reason this review is not quite a full five-star experience for us comes down primarily to the service that evening. The restaurant was very busy, which we completely understand, but throughout the dinner our drinks frequently sat empty for fairly long stretches, and at times it was genuinely difficult to flag down someone for assistance. Nothing disastrous occurred, but the pacing and attentiveness simply did not quite match the otherwise elevated atmosphere and quality of the food. Still, we genuinely enjoyed our evening here and absolutely understand why Minerva's remains one of downtown Sioux Falls' most enduring dining landmarks. It feels like one of those restaurants that generations of locals continue returning to for celebrations, date nights, family dinners, and special occasions, and after our visit, it was easy to see why.

It's August 2023 and like most places during these times, they are short staffed. So we waited a bit even though I made a reservation on open table. No biggie. We were early anyways. Our server was very lovely and managing tables indoors and outdoors. The cocktail menu is very good. I had the lavender martini and the last drink on the cocktail list. Blanking on the name even though I had 2 of them. Maybe that's why I don't remember haha. I ordered the bouillabaisse, and it was delicious. My husband had a steak dish and enjoyed it very much. But then he slurped up the rest of my bouillabaisse sauce and said he could drink that forever. We skipped dessert and walked back to our hotel. It's an easy location in the happening area. I'd love to return.

We got the Chislic, and the cheese plate. The cheese plate was pretty disappointing, the cheese looked like it had sat out all day. No major flavor profiles, a basket of basic crackers to go along with it and olives. For the cost of a cheese plate I expected to be relatively satisfied with it. No fruits, jams, breads, spreadables (1). The fluidity of the dish was very stale, as well as the freshness. The Chislic is some of the best that I've had, having travelled far and wide, I can say without a doubt this is so far my favorite out of 18 countries and hundreds of restaurants. Our waitress seemed incredibly green, didn't seem familiar with the menu, upon checkout, added an erroneous item to our check, which I would've missed had I not gone over it, overall, I was disappointed in the visit that I had at Parker's bistro. I had had high hopes for my first visit, and was hoping for this to be a new favorite restaurant downtown. Wonderful ambience, absolutely stunning Chislic, great drinks, and warm staff regardless.
