Hamburger steak and skillet potatoes
Mark O.

The young waitress who served me was very helpful and polite. Made sure my iced tea was filled. Came by to check in, but I never felt like she was "overdoing it". The side salad was simple, but done well. The fresh onion rings, along with the cucumber and tomatoes slices are more than some restaurants do. The ranch wasn't cheap bottled stuff. The hamburger steak was seasoned nicely enough and cooked medium well, just as the menu said it would. Where Marlin's can improve is their condiment selection. Vinaigrette was not an option--I thought it was fairly common these days. Oil and vinegar didn't seem to be available either--I'm sure the server would have suggested that if it was. They also didn't have Worcestershire sauce available for my hamburger steak, so I had to make do with A-1. I was also disappointed in the "skillet potatoes". My fault for not asking, but I thought they would have been closer to American Fries or the "Homestyle slices" that Simply Potatoes manufacturers. These were simply a slightly larger version of the "breakfast cubes" that are found ubiquitously through every restaurant that offers breakfast. Not a fan of them, as I feel like they lack flavor and do nothing to enhance a plate, let along a person's palette.

A lot of good food for a good price. Glad I stopped here. Very nice and attentive staff as well. They don't ruin the eating experience by repeatedly checking in on you, but they do check in enough to make sure there is nothing else you need. I will definitely drop by next time I'm driving through this area

Steak omelet with cheesy hash browns

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Nice place, staff was very friendly. Food was amazing. I had the steak omelet which was huge. Their omelets are served with a short stack of pancakes which are pretty huge themselves. Had a tough time finishing my food but it was so delicious that I did anyway. Would definitely go again.

The kids got a great meal and loved the food. My breakfast was a very generous portion of food and was delicious. Our server was great!

We arrived at Swamp Daddy's and never have I ever seen so many gluten free menu choices! Never have I ever seen so many CAJUN gluten free menu choices in my life, the rue usually takes them off the list!! We were greeted with a smile and a welcome by a lovely young lady that was genuinely happy to see us! She offered us any open spot in the place! We chose the bar because the seats looked so comfy! They're a bit low but they're definitely comfy! We each got a nice cold beverage, they have beer, seltzer and wine and placed our order. We got the Cajun Fries for appetizer and they came out hot and fresh with all the crispy goodness we wanted. Would have liked some kind of Cajun aioli to go with them rather than the bottled ranch but the fries alone were good. We each got the Blackened Shrimp and it was divine! There were plenty of shrimp and the pile of jambalaya seemed endless!! The flavor was amazing and the sauce was to die for! I'll definitely be back before we head back out on the road, I'd like to try a little more of the menu, it was all solid choices!

Next the prices were completely outrageous for what you get and there were up charges that we were not informed about before hand. Then some of things I was up charged for they didn't end up giving us because they spilled something. No offer to give us a discount after I had already complained about the up charges. Last the food was ok but definitely not worth what I paid and again didn't even get a decent amount. Somethings had almost no flavor and others were so salty we couldn't eat them. I will not be going back there unfortunately.

The veggies were fresh and while overall the dish was under seasoned, that was fixed with some salsa. It also came with 3 flour tortillas. I also ordered the red salsa and small white salsa not realizing that the entree comes with both and chips!! That was a nice surprise because some other Mexican restaurants in town don't give the complementary chips & salsa with to-go orders. Would order again!

By that point I was already seated and committed, but that's something I wish I'd checked beforehand. Because of that, I intentionally ordered something that would come out hot. Wasn't about to order a salad or anything that didn't need to be cooked. So I ordered the fajitas with chicken, steak, and shrimp. You know how fajitas are supposed to come out sizzling on a hot plate? These didn't. They weren't cold, but you could definitely tell everything had been sitting back there for an extended amount of time. They didn't taste fresh at all. And it gets worse. Every time I've ordered fajitas with cheese and bacon anywhere else, you get solid melted cheese and crispy bacon. Here? Runny cheese sauce and bacon that had zero crispiness to it. The whole thing was a mess. The meat portions? Ok the pieces were cut up small. I was picking through all the vegetables and onions trying to find actual pieces of chicken and steak. A lot of peppers and onions. The Verdict: Plaza Azteca was a miss. The margaritas were decent but the fajitas were a lukewarm, runny, disappointing mess with small pieces of meat. Combine that with odd service and some concerning health reviews, and this is a two star experience at best. Won't be going back.

We were sat, had chips and salsa, our appetizer, and our entrees, ate (too much, it was delicious), and paid for our meal all within 20 minutes. Twenty minutes during a rush. No mistakes with our food, service was phenomenal. I literally couldn't be more impressed. I was too busy stuffing my face to take pictures of our food before we ate but everything was presented so well and we had the awesome experience of the flaming cheese appetizer (we are tourists, you gotta get the fun stuff yk). I couldn't be more impressed and delighted by La Plaza Fiesta. Such a great stop on our road trip!!

We were both in the mood for Mexican, this was very close and the ratings looked good. The bar looked impressive as we walked in and after we were seated, we started with 24oz Margaritas (see picture) to accompany our free chips, salsa & white sauce (see picture). While the Margaritas were quite large, we both commented that they seemed a bit weak on the alcohol (or it is possible that they used Reposado tequila with less flavor). My wife decided to order the Combo #2 (pork tamale, ground beef enchilada & ground beef hard shell taco - see picture) while I went with the street tacos - Carnitas (pulled pork), Pollo (chicken) & Al Pastor (spit-roasted pork). We both enjoyed the Combo, with my favorite part being the pork tamale. I'm a big fan of corn tortilla street tacos and found them all to be very good - but my favorite was the Al Pastor. A quick Google search indicated that Al Pastor is a spit-roasted pork influenced by Lebanese shawarma - marinated and then cooked on a vertical rotisserie. This carmelizes the edges, resulting in a savory, tangy and slightly sweet flavor. Whatever the science...I found it delicious! If you found this review helpful, please Share, Follow & Like.
