It's been open long enough the new shiny thing in Ankeny has worn off and the long lines are gone. The service at lunch today was fast and friendly. The place is super clean. I ordered the Slim Chicken salad and was not disappointed. It was full of very fresh ingredients and nicely prepared. I grabbed a number and they brought my food promptly to my table. This was my second time visiting, first time dining in the restaurant. The staff was kind and brought our food to us quickly. There was plenty of seating and everything was well kept. I got chicken and waffles and it was good! Except there was lettuce in my butter.. but we can get past that. My parents, from out of town, enjoyed their meals and said they would come back. The chicken was cooked PERFECTLY - there's a line wrapped around the store showing how well it's making out. Tons of dipping sauce options, ranch is delicious & their fries aren't overly seasoned so in our opinions AMAZING. We shared the Oreo shake & thought it was a perfect blend of Oreo bits& ice cream ratio , my wrap was tremendous & I switched out the Buffalo for garlic Parmesan - the lemonade was even great! I didn't even need my ranch I ordered because the wrap was so perfectly seasoned. Loved all of it! Will be visiting OVER CHIK-FIL-A! I think the dessert alone is reason enough to visit - absolutely incredible & I am not a cheesecake fan usually. read more

So, I've noticed that their dessert jars have gone up 2 dollars and the banana pudding dessert doesn't have bananas in it!! Plus, they really skimp on putting strawberries and cheesecake in the jars, it's mostly whipped cream. Their food has gone up astronomically but their portions have gotten much smaller. Yes, we notice! Their sweet tea is always soured, which means they're not properly cleaning out the container. Also, the lids for their drinks are so flimsy and come off the styrofoam so easily that we've lost 2-3 milk shakes as we were picking them up plus their chicken is very salty. Now that its been open for 6 days I thought I would get lucky and not have it so busy. I was wrong lol It was still busy but with the friendly smiles from the employees and upbeat attitude I didn't mind. The new freshly trained employees were doing everything they can to get people in and out. We even left one a small tip for making the experience bearable. With a limited menu we were hoping for fantastic food and honestly we knew it would be a longer wait then usual when they cook food to order you just know it will take longer. It was hot and fresh just as advertised. Slim Chicken does a great job at what they do and I had no complaints. I placed an online order and set pick up time to 12 noon. I arrived 20 minutes early so I walked inside and let the cashier know I had an online order under Robert H. She said she couldn't find it so I told her I was early. She looked confused so I pulled up the app and showed her and she went and got the shift manager who came up and asked me what the order was under. She told me she didn't have one and I once again asked if it could be they weren't seeing g it because I was early. She then checked in back and came forward and told me what I already told them, that I was early. She said she sent the order to the cooks but it would be a few minutes because of the waffles. I said no problem and I had a seat. I watched multiple customers and transaction come in . I saw a girl from the back moving orders up to the online shelf behind the register but the cashier checked what I thought was mine and didn't alert me. After watching 3 men who came in long after me get their chicken and waffles I walked to the counter to ask for my order to be cancelled so I could get back to work. That is when the cashier went to get the manager, Jovana, who came up and asked me what the problem was. I told her I was tired of watching people who came long after me get their food and wanted the order cancelled. She then looked at the shelf and found my order, which included a milkshake, had been sitting there a long time. I told them I didn't want food that had been melting and dying in the shelf. Hi Ana snapped back that she could replace the order but it would take two to three days. I said I didn't care. I asked how did I k ow she world actually refund it and she snapped back that she would. I told her it would have been better for her to say sorry for the poor service but she stood mood. I turned and walked away and she said I hope you have a better day and I told her once again, sorry was what she should have said. This experience was so unacceptable. Jovana needs to learn to manage her staff better and needs to learn how to make it right with the customer. Honestly, if she would have apologized, I would have been fine. I would ah e accepted the old order. But due to her response, the product will be trashed, and slim chickens lost out on a customer. read more

Didn't have the best experience here tonight. We tried it for the first time around 6pm on a Thursday night. Pulled up to the drive though order station and sat for about 5 minutes. No one answered or took our order and we tried talking into the box a few times to try and get someone's attention. With no success, we pulled up to the window to order there. After getting to the window, a teenage kid looked confused when we said we still needed to order. He said the girl who was supposed to be outside taking orders wasn't there so he took our order at the window. We then sat there for about 20 minutes while the line was piling up behind us. Finally, they opened the window and said they forgot to place our order. Then again, after about 10 minutes they handed us our food and then we had to remind them to give us our drinks. Overall, the food was pretty good but service was terrible. Seemed unorganized and just like a bunch of teenagers who weren't taking their job seriously or lacked training. read more

I asked for a side salad, substituted from fries. They charge for one side of ranch. Took about 40 minutes for two meals. They gave me fries, not a salad. & forgot my side of ranch. the salad salad was weeds more than lettuce & pretty sad. I don't know the point of the table numbers if they don't use them. Once the other kid came to give me my side salad before the rest of my meal, he asked me the order number even though it was on the table in front of him. Our order got messed up which was no big deal, the manager did great at fixing it and was very kind over the phone. However, when my boyfriend turned around to leave, one of the workers said "I mean that kid looked like a girl". My boyfriend has longer hair, but regardless that comment was rude and extremely unprofessional. Might be a good reminder to workers that their voices aren't quiet. I was super excited to try this place. waited in line in the drive thru for 20 minutes, then sat at the ordering menu in the for about 15 minutes before anyone took our order. when we finally pulled up to the window to pay and get our food there were about 5-7 people in there on their phones and not doing anything. it took another 10 minutes for us to receive our food. when we pulled out the line was almost back to the dunkin' donuts and no one was taking any orders. my friend and i each got a meal and one side and spent $40. one of the worker's bandaids fell off in my friends hand, while handing her our drinks (yummy). definitely won't be coming back. read more

Decided to try this place today because Popeyes is all the way in Altoona and this place is new. AMAZING! All the sauce choices! You don't see that often. The sauces were flavorful, sticky, and delicious as a sauce should be. We tried sriracha garlic, sweet chili, and mango habanero. All of them were great! The line wasn't long at all and the staff were clear and precise with our order! The food was FRESH and flavorful. Fries were cold and soggy with no seasoning, chicken tenders were slightly warm but crust wasn't crispy and not lots of flavor, was suppose to come with 2 dipping sauces we received one.
