Back again. This time I changed it up and went with the grilled shrimp tacos and the hot honey brussel sprouts. This meal did not disappoint. Tonight the owner was not here, but his staff was on point start to finish. While I don't want to have to wait for a seat when I come here, I can't keep this little gem hidden. Absolutely everything I have eaten here has been on point. You cannot go wrong with their food. Do yourself a favor and give these folks a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Boyfriend and I stopped here on a Friday night. It was pretty busy, but we easily found spots at the bar. It is a smaller space with a large bar and the majority of seating is at high top tables. My boyfriend ordered the happy hour draft beer for $3 and I had a sugar cookie martini that I enjoyed. We ordered cheese curds which are basically cheese cubes that we enjoyed. They are the perfect size for a cube and they aren't too heavy, breading is light and crispy. I ordered the wings with buffalo and hot honey garlic. The hot honey was a little spicer than I expected, but I would order both flavors again. My boyfriend ordered the happy hour $10 burger. It was just okay, but didn't expect it to be anything crazy for $10. He will be ordering an actual burger next time. I believe they are also updating their menu soon, and we will definitely be back to try other/new items. Lastly, the service was wonderful. The bartender was super helpful and kind. He was constantly making sure our experience was good.

first time trying and the hot honey garlic wings, parm garlic wings, and Triple Bougie Burger with cheese curds were very good!

The service was excellent--our waiter was kind, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of. I ordered the yakisoba bowl without any meat add-ins, and I'm so glad I did. It was easily the best yakisoba I've ever had. The sauce leans more sweet than salty, which made it really unique and flavorful. I absolutely loved it. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area. I definitely think it would be a great spot to watch any sporting event. It is winter time, but looks like it would be a nice spot in the summer. I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu!

Food Review - 30hop (Ankeny) Hiding from the rain with love…read moreof my life! I and my amazing woman ordered the Grilled Buffalo Chicken Cobb along with a half Very Berry Salad with added grilled chicken, and overall it was a satisfying, hearty meal. The Grilled Buffalo Chicken Cobb was the standout. The chicken was tender and well-cooked, topped with a bold buffalo sauce that added heat overpowering the dish (heh). The salad itself was generously portioned and visually appealing, loaded with fresh ingredients like cherry tomatoes, avocado slices, blue cheese crumbles, crispy bacon, hard-boiled egg, corn, carrots, and mixed greens. Every bite had a good balance of textures and flavors--creamy, crunchy, savory, and spicy. The Very Berry Salad (half portion) was fresh and light, making it a nice contrast to the Cobb. Adding grilled chicken made it more filling, though the upcharge felt a little steep for the portion size. Still, the greens and toppings were fresh and well-prepared. Service and presentation were solid, and the food arrived looking just as good as it tasted. One downside was the added 3% swipe/tap fee, which bumped the total up a bit, but the quality of the food helped justify the overall surprise. Overall: A flavorful, filling meal with fresh ingredients and strong presentation. A good choice if you're craving a substantial salad that doesn't feel boring and looking for a place to hide from a rain and talk to your loved one. (5/5)

There was a small but steady crowd throughout the night and we had top- notch service from our server- knowledgeable about the menu, attentive in the 'just right way' - carefully observing drinks and not interrupting date night more than necessary. A variety of local And other craft beers were featured although surprisingly not any from Firetrucker next door! The holiday decor was still up but even without it has a warm feel- love the various table sizes and heights and the long bar with a pretty decent offering for cocktails. While there, the bartender was experimenting with drinks and having fun. After recommendations I ordered the French dip which was phenomenal! Homemade bread, warm, generous meat and peppers and grilled onions, flavorful dip . I will say if I ordered again I would ask to have the sauce left off as I am not a fan of horseradish sauce. Still, it was tasty! Side salad as option was super fresh with mixed greens and the house creamy Italian was bursting with herby flavor. my husband had the tenderloin and while delicious- it was 'bougie' and not the traditional Midwest. It was generous and interesting as a dinner option. Would certainly return as the patio is inviting (just not in January)!'

My husband drives from Ames to get a specific brand of whiskey when he's craving it since nowhere in Ames carries it lol. The store is kept clean and free of any trip or spill hazards. The outside is well kept also. There isn't any garbage or cigarette butts spread around. The staff is always really helpful and pleasant to talk with. They've even offered to order something that they don't usually carry. Any time we call, they're kind and helpful on the phone and have offered to hold the specific bottle we were asking about until we arrived from Ames.

I ventured in on a Sunday after picking up a birthday present for my gf. That's where I met the Jims! I was greeted right away when I walked in...and talk about customer service! These gentlemen knew their stuff and were really fun to talk to! After a while I think I walked out of the store with five bottles. One a bottle I thought I've have to order online. Kentucky Coffee...an inexpensive bottle, but one that combines two of my favorite things. Bourbon and coffee! While my interest is mostly in bourbon and whiskey the store has a great selection of beer, wine, and other spirits. If I had to pick one thing that sets this store apart from every other liquor store... It's attention and customer service. And it wasn't just me. They treated everyone who walked in the same way. It was a nice change over other stores where the staff can't be bothered to look away from their phones or the conversation with their buddies. Before I left I had a chance to meet the shop owner's son. A really nice guy! I didn't catch his name... But if he's any reflection of his father I'd say meeting him when the time comes will be a pleasure. And Liquor Lovers supports their customers who serve...or who have served...with a 5% discount. Every little bit helps! I'll definitely be coming back here when I'm in the Ankeny area...and I'm there a lot.

I kind of felt a little bad for interrupting him as I was just browsing. Lol From the Western Clive West Des Moines area it was about a 35 min drive out to North Ankeny but I wanted to check out the shelves here. Love the high wooden displays that give parts of the shop an almost library like look... A lot of the bourbon and whiskey is standard to what you can find at other area shops. Pricing is on par or just a couple of dollars higher. I can see the convenience of this shop to the residents of Northern Ankeny. It's really the only liquor store in the area. There is Costco, but the 10-15 min drive back to Neighborhood or longer to Liquor Lovers would be a pain if you just need to run in and grab something. Nothing screamed "Buy me!" so I walked out empty handed. With it being the haul that it is for me from my home base in the metro (and the speed trap they were running between 1st and 36th on I35) I doubt that I make a special trip back to Sip N Burn, but I won't hesitate to swing in again if I am in the area.

Small parking lot around what appears to be a house, but it's so much more. It's a dive bar. Multiple TVs had a golf tournament on but that didn't keep the conversations from being lively. Even we were greeted with smiles from the bartender. We bellied right up and made friends. She was so fun to talk to even while being worked hard with the busy crowd. We did discover that the name was changed to Careny Tap about 5 years ago, but there are still hits of the old name, and Google also had an old name on the map. We started a tab and they took a card or cash. We had a couple drinks and I loved watching the bartender work. My husband was very pleased with the beer options available. They had some beers that not a lot of places carry and I think he was so excited to find some unique ones she had to offer. We did not eat anything, but really like this place and its been here forever. I recommend.
