Ate off of the food truck at the Blackman, Oakland game, 09/30/2022. Had the 20 smoked wings, pulled pork sandwich, fries, and banana pudding. The pulled pork sandwich was good and tasty, the fries were over seasoned and extremely salty and we were only able to eat a few before stopping. The wings were Smokey and tender and moist. By far the best wings I've had from Slick Pig ever and the banana pudding was some of the best I've had from a restaurant, tasted like it was really homemade, great. After dining here while visiting Nashville, it just didn't do it for me. I realize that this is a BBQ place, but the batter on my fried catfish filets were unusually hard, oily, and crunchy but not in a good way. I felt like I was eating a big catfish cracker instead of fish. Our sides were pretty good but overly oily and greasy. My fiance excitedly ordered brisket, given that this is a BBQ place, but the two pieces were about the size of 2 fingers he was still hungry afterwards. I am really confused why this place has such a good overall rating. Maybe other items on the menu are better than the ribs. However, at a highly rated BBQ joint you would assume ribs were at least average. I ordered the full rack with two sides. The ribs had no taste whatsoever. I prefer to eat my ribs naked but they were so bland I had to eat with sauce (sauce was good.) The "corn bread" was really just two small corn pancakes that were all dried out and tastless. The Mac n Cheese had zero flavor. My wife had the hickory smoked wings which were pretty good, which is why this is a two star review and not a one star. read more

Just had to add this to my review, I was a student at MTSU back in the late 80's and this was place was East Main Market. Our go to place for cheep beer! Driving from Georgia to Lebanon to watch our daughter play college volleyball and came across this gem thru Yelp. The wings are amazing. The best my husband and I have every had. White beans and fries with ranch are not to shabby either. Yes we also ordered a fried bologna sandwich and a brisket sandwich as well. First time trying the slick pig, won't be the last though. We ordered the brisket, pulled pink sandwich, chicken wings and honey bar b que wings. We just wanted to try a variety! Everything was delicious! The pulled pork was a bit mushy not shredded as expected but the taste was good. That would be my only complaint. Pretty mediocre bbq. Very moist, but bland. The chicken & pork were more flavorful that the brisket, but they were also tossed with a dressing. The real stars are the sides. It was by chance that we found ourselves here on our way to Nashville after a late tour at the Jack Daniel's distillery in Lynchburg. It must have been fate... As I got out of my car the first thing I see is "$.99 pork sandwiches, Tuesday only" painted on the window. Being from NY, where anything worthwhile seems to cost far more than it's worth, this was a red flag. But when we got inside my misgivings melted away. We were greeted by a couple sitting by the door with a hearty "Hello" and "sit wherever you like". I later realized that the woman worked there and was just chilling with one of the regulars. When we ordered our food I became slightly distracted by the smell of all things BBQ, and sort of lost it because I proceeded to order the pork sandwich AND the half rack of ribs AND one of each side. Kelly got the fried catfish. The sweet tea was the perfect compliment to the meal, as it seems to be for meals we've had down here, and the refills are free! The sides were also very good and were a perfect compliment to the meal. I even liked the thick white bread that Kelly got with her catfish. It helped me soak up all the fork-shy bits left on my styrofoam plate. The pork sandwich was good. The pork itself was ok, maybe a tiny bit dry, but you can soak it in some of the BBQ sauce at the table. The awesome thing about this sandwich is that you can have it served between two cornmeal pancakes as the bun! That's what made this sandwich for me. I would gladly pay $.99 for this on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure I didn't spend much more than that at full price, so it's a deal either way. The ribs left me a bit speechless. Since I started writing reviews on Yelp I've started to think about the food I eat more than I probably should. This meal brought me back to a simpler time. A time when the world around me seemed to disappear when in the presence of delicious food, when I didn't care about how much of a mess I was making and I wasn't trying to figure out what I was eating. I both couldn't wait to take my next bite and wanted to savor it all at the same time, and I almost didn't feel the pain as my stomach stretched to accommodate it all. Long story short, the ribs were amazing. Melt in your mouth, fall off the bone amazing.You would be hard pressed to find anything comparable elsewhere without a lot of ridiculous fanfare and hefty pricetag. As much as I love the BBQ joints in BKLYN and Manhattan, this is a pig of a different color. Keep trying, hipsters, you may one day catch up, but it'll never be $.99... Some tips: Bring an appetite, you'll want to eat a lot. Tip generously, it's well deserved. I've lived in Murfreesboro since 1988. This really is the best BBQ. In 2011 we took the family to Disney World. One morning as we were boarding the tram from the parking lot when a family sitting near us struck up a conversation. The father asked where we were from. I answered, "Murfreesboro Tennessee." His eyes got huge as he excitedly hollered, "HONEY! DID YOU HEAR WHERE THEY ARE FROM?!" I thought what the heck? He then started to tell us how they are big Disney fans from Michigan and every year they drive down to Orlando when one year they had car trouble on the Interstate in Murfreesboro and were forced to spend the night while the car was being repaired. While in Murfreesboro he had asked where the locals go to eat good food and was steered to Slick Pig BBQ. He said now every year when they make their trek to Disney World they stop in Murfreesboro for Slick Pig BBQ. That is some testament since our traffic here is atrocious and Slick Pig BBQ is nowhere near the Interstate! I wish I remembered their names but I will always remember their story. Try Slick Pig BBQ. Yelpers led us here--touted as the best bbq in Murfreesboro. The quick take: The turn off: Everything is served in styrofoam--I couldn't shake the visions of mountains of styrofoam after a busy Friday night. All cutlery is one use, disposable plastic. For this reason alone, we won't come back to Slick Pig. I worked in restos for 6 years and have a sense of the waste output and grew up on a farm where we burned or buried our waste and couldn't just dump it on someone else's land. It weighs too heavily on me. Slick Pig, if you could change one thing, pls adopt more environmentally conscious. We have to hand this incredible planet over to our kids. Standouts: Desserts here are what you expect from a Southern spread and are exceptional. A sugar blast that might have put me in a bit of a coma. Banana pudding topped with a soft meringue that tasted vaguely like bubblegum when I closed my eyes. Coconut cake topped with dream whip and more coconut. Moist, fluffy, with a base soaked in maybe coconut or pineapple syrup? A coconut cream pie topped with meringue--holy mother of cream pies. The main event--ribs are okay but I don't think we'll be back for the ribs. Our favorite ribs and brisket are still Martin's in Nolensville. Ribs are wet styled and sticky. They seem pretty good. Brisket is kind of dry and possibly rushed through its cooking process. Smoked turkey is dry. Catfish is overly salty and does not compare to Cracker Barrel, which is my high water mark for restaurant catfish. CB makes the absolute best catfish, crunchy cornbread dredged filets that complement the subtle, fatty catfish filets. Turnip greens are smoky and tasty--not overly salty or vinegar-y. We came relatively early on a Friday night and were followed by a significant dinner crowd. The staff taking orders and delivering food couldn't be more helpful, polite and friendly. These folks are nice. Be prepared to make a multitude of decisions as you order. A side or three comes with almost everything.
