Wow! I don't understand the bad reviews of this place! I went for the first time tonight....saw Laura Myers (per referral) and SOO pleased! I recently relocated from SF to Reno...had a couple of bad color experiences and was VERY leery to have anyone else cut and color my hair in Reno. One visit to Laura and know I've found my 'it' girl. Technically and artistically talented but also one of the nicest, most attentive stylists I've met in a long time. A true gem! The salon is also very laid back, unpretentious and hip. Something I personally prefer. Can't speak for other stylists at Slice (although from what I saw while there...their clients all walked out looking spectacular) but highly recommend Laura! read more

I've gone to Chantel Breeze twice now, and I cannot say enough good things about her. Going to a new hairdresser can be a stressful experience, but Chantel made me feel comfortable from start to finish. I bleach my hair and used to get bad chemical burns on my scalp after color treating my hair but the color Chantel uses doesn't burn or make my scalp feel itchy. She is very accommodating and definitely doesn't rush. The salon is located in midtown and there's plenty of parking so no need to worry about parallel parking on the street. They even offer complimentary drinks and to top it off, her prices are very reasonable. Laura Christopher is by far the best hair dresser I have found. I met Laura when she had worked at a previous salon by referral of a friend. Since then I have not been to anyone else. You give her an idea and she re creates it identically to what you had imagined. She takes so much pride into her work and it shows. Anyone have any idea what it is like to move to a new city and hope to find a great salon?! My daughter and I were looking for a salon with the same vintage/retro vibe that we had in Texas and thought we had found that in Slice. However, the employee we passed in the hall on our way in did not even acknowledge us. There was no one to greet us when we walked in. We stood at the check-in desk for a while making jokes, all the while hearing talking from the back rooms. How did we hear them and they not hear us? Finally the girl from the hall returns and (fake) is dumbfounded that we haven't been waited on. She offers to find a stylist and leaves us. After a few minutes of waiting I decided to track down the young lady to tell her we were no longer interested. She was in the break room talking with whom I guess was the only stylist working at present. I told them not to worry about the service I was no longer interested. The young lady replied that she was sorry but it took longer to help us than expected because everyone was with a client at the moment. Umm?! Excuse me, there were no other customers in the building. The excuse irritated me to the point of acknowledging the YELP flyer/coupon on the mirrors of the styling stations. Thus, I informed the first young lady along with the stylist that I would be definitely going to YELP but not to receive a coupon. Good luck to all who venture there! read more

Mens hair cut. Meko Sugaya has been cutting both of my guy friends hair for quite a while now. Every time that I saw them with a new haircut I always give them a complement. They gave me Sugaya's personal business card and I made an appointment that day! In two days I go into Slice for the very first time. It was gorgeous! They color scheme is Lime Green and Black, giving it a urban and sheek look. As soon as I walked in Sugaya greeted me with a smile. She sat me down and made me feel comfortable with a cup of white wine. I loved it. I was already enjoying my experience. She understood exactly the hairstyle that I wanted. She shampooed and conditioned my hair, at the same time messaged my head. Once that was all done she began to cut my hair. The results were great! She then washed my hair for the second time to remove the left over hair. My hair was styled with Mitch Reformer hair cream. I walked out feeling very satisfied. I am truly amazed about the negative reviews for this place. My experience was completely different. I moved to Reno 6 months ago and have always had the hardest time with finding someone to cut my hair and do a good job on it. My hair is 3 times as thick as a normal persons the sides are a loose wave and the back is a pretty tight curl. Needless to say its hell managing it most of the time! I was referred by a friend to Laura Myers who was super sweet and nice. She was very knowledgeable about her profession and an incredible hair stylist. I explained my hair type and problems I had and just gave her a run down of my lifestyle. She suggested a few things, I choose two different options and have a new style great hair and a new person that I will be faithful too.
