I found Denise's salon account while searching for a local color specialist to do a color correction for me. I have long hair which I had been dying black for a decade. I finally stopped dying it & had been growing it out in an attempt to go back to a more natural shade of brown, but eventually I got impatient. So I reached out to Denise for a consultation. She was confident that she could give me the chocolate, caramel color I wanted while maintaining the length & strength of my hair. So we promptly booked my next appointment for her to begin working her magic I think these photos speak for themselves! In addition to being wonderful at her job, but she is a shining & beautiful person inside & out I am so happy with my hair & I am even more happy that I met Denise. Thank you for boosting my confidence & my spirits
I absolutely adore Denise and her work of magic! Her studio is very comfortable and well decorated. In addition, while you are there (appointment only), she gives you 100% of her attention. Which is great, because I'm constantly laughing and sharing stories with her. I've been traveling a ton for work and my hair was TRASHED after too many nights in hotels with hard water (I'm looking at you, Arizona!). Even though I'm diligent about products, the hard water was no match. Denise recognized the challenges right away and made a significant difference in a couple of hours. Leave the hard work to professionals like her! We can keep doing what we do best, looking good. Thank you, Denise!
I have been been a client of Denise's for quite a while now. She is informative and knowledgeable about hair products and styles. It's a relaxed environment and I never feel like the process is rushed. I get a full weave with multiple shades of blonde, and I tend to change with the seasons. I always walk out feeling fabulous. Couldn't ask for a better hair care specialist to keep me feeling beautiful.
Denise has been doing my hair for 8 years and is the absolute best! She is a pro at blonde highlights and keratin. She is a very positive and hard working stylist and I always enjoy our conversations. Her prices are extremely fair given the value. Don't bother researching further for your blonde - book with Denise!
Blond Highlight Review. (Pictures Attached). The blond highlights I requested turned out yellow, brassy, and a few spots completely white. While she did not seem to interested in asking me how I wanted my hair, I did ask for simple partial blond highlight. I was a first time client. The outcome left banding throughout my hair. This resulted in fragile, broken hair, with burns on my scalp from the bleach. I can speculate what happened but that doesn't really matter. What matters is the results and her response to said results. I did inform her how my hair turned out. She did offer to fix it. I considered having her fix it but after consultation with two other stylist, I did not feel comfortable retuning to someone who destroyed my hair and scalp so badly on our first meeting. She blew out my hair before I left, therefore she KNEW that the bleach had bled out of the foils causing the banding and spots. She knew and didn't say anything to me. To me this is a very dishonest way to run a beauty business. Again, I could speculate why she didn't say anything but that is a moot point. I did ask for a refund as the service requested was not delivered. She did issue me a partial refund. I paid $198 for this service, including a 20% tip (total without tip $158.40). She returned $133, citing she was subtracting $65 for the haircut + tip. I did not ask for a haircut but she stated to me she includes haircuts in all appointments. At the time I interpreted that to mean the haircut was built-in the highlight price. Apparently it is not and a haircut is $52 plus the 20% ($13) tip I left equaling $65. Had I known a trim was going to cost $65, I would have forgone the haircut. I did inform her I thought refunding only a partial amount was petty considering the destruction of my hair and she did not respond. Perhaps I am being unreasonable or perhaps she needs the money.... Whatever the case, I received very poor results, damaging in fact. This is my experience. But the good news is from the math above, her price of a partial highlight is only $106.40. So my suggestion to future clients is to forgo the expensive haircut and get some inexpensive partial highlights, I'm sure not all of her work is bad (in fact I am sure she does decent hair sometimes). I hope this does not happen to anyone else.
I was texting with Denise prior to our appt and told her that it has been at least 7 months since I last had my hair done, and that I wanted a balayage/babylights and wanted to go as light as reasonably possible. She responded and said she would give me some options but never did. When I got to her studio, she never once mentioned or asked any further about what I wanted to do with my hair. Every single person has always asked before starting. I guess she didn't care to know what I wanted. But she had great reviews so I trusted her. Since I'm a first time client with at least 7 months of growth, one might think it's like practically starting from scratch right? I was prepared for it to be like that of a first time appt because that's what it was. Denise, however, did not prepare and winged it. I could tell she was already rushing halfway through and it was honestly making me nervous. Needless to say, my hair was fried, more than it had ever been after any bleach job in the past and I looked like a hyena with different shades of bleached, patchy spots and harsh lines. It was a botched job. Sure, she offered to fix it, as she should, but gaslighted me in her response as if it was my hair's fault that she did a poor job or that she had no idea prior that it had been that long. Would you let that person touch your hair again? No thank you. She never responded to my request for a refund. She admitted herself it should have been a 4.5 hr job. How do you miss the mark by 2.5 hrs though? Her after pictures might look decent on the surface, but if I put my hair half up like I like to do, that would have been embarrassing. She would have known that though if she asked before starting and saved us both the trouble. I had to pay someone else $300+ for Denise's negligence. She even kept the tip.
I tried once and I'm hooked! The hair that was delivered was exactly what I asked for, and I almost can't wait to go back!
I've been going to Denise for over 6 years now! She's the only hair stylist I trust to keep my hair blonde and fabulous. She still has one of the best personalities of any stylist I've been too. She takes her time and makes sure your hair perfect before walking out the door.
I love when I have a hair appointment with Denise. I count down the days like it's Christmas morning when I have an appointment scheduled. She always makes my blonde dreams come true. She is truly the BEST blonde specialist. So thankful to have such a wonderful and talented blonde professional. Not to mention she's hysterical and the sweetest!!
Denise does men's hair and does it best. She is also incredibly efficient. Make an appointment, show up on time, get the best haircut. I've been traveling for two years and the hardest part is getting a good cut that manages to keep my swirling cowlicks under control. Denise sets the gold standard by which all other hair stylist/barbers are judged. Some have come close, most fail by simply doing their version of my request. Now I have photos of Denise's work to help them.

After just one session with Denise my hair had been the color I never thought I'd get. Denise's talent shines through in every piece of hair she lays her hands on. She's honest about your hair goals, products, and maintenance of this kind of color. Selfishly I wish I could gatekeep her all for myself. However, I think everyone deserves to feel as beautiful as Denise makes you feel by reaching your hair goals. Love her, the salon, and atmosphere. No awkward conversations or having to stress out in the chair if your hair is gonna turn out how you'd like. Denise, at Studio 1221 creates magic, literally! She makes it her mission to transform hair and make woman feel as radiant as they deserve. She has been my girl since I moved to Reno 3 years ago. She has created master piece after master piece every time I have changed my mind with my color. When I moved here she created magic with different tones of blonde, and now she has done it again with the red tones I requested. She almost matched the picture I gave her perfectly, and as a bonus went above and beyond with so much dimension. During the last year, I decided to put henna in my hair (bad idea) as when I came in for this color Denise taught me that henna combats color. Instead of turning me away, this beautiful person stayed until 10 o clock at night to make sure I walked out feeling my best. 8 hours of stripping the henna out of my hair piece by piece, and then adding this color one chunk at a time! She was doing it this way to preserve the hair and not damage it. She didnt complain once, she just took it as her mission to complete it with grace and professionalism. Denise has many years of knowledge to make sure your hair is at its best both in presentation and in health. Her prices are great and reasonable to allow me to maintain the hair that I love. We all know trusting someone new with your hair can be terrifying, especially since we've all had at least one bad experience. I went in with high expectations and left with exactly what I wanted, I can confidently say look no further and go see Denise! She is an absolute god send when it comes to color and takes really good care of your hair. She uses high end products, pays attention to detail and is through with her work. Plus she is a lot of fun to hang with you won't feel like you've spent hours having your hair done. I left feeling like I got exactly what I wanted which I can say that doesn't happen at most salons. I have been going to Denise for my hair for a couple of years now and this review is far overdue! Denise works magic every time I come see her. I originally found her on the intranet because I needed someone who knows how to do blonde hair. My hair is very long and thick and requires both time, knowledge and extra care all of which Denise excels at! I am truly so thankful to have found her. I have had unfortunately some bad experiences with other stylist who have made my hair break off, colored it completely different from what I had asked or just rushed through doing it and missed some spots on my roots. Denise takes her time with my hair and I have consistent results every time. Denise is also super nice and easy to talk to. After nearly 10 years of friendship and hot hair I can say with 1000% confidence Denise is an absolute miracle worker and is incredible at what she does - HOT HAIR - in what she dubs 'Beautifying America'. Sadly I only get to see Denise once a year since relocating back to Seattle but she never ceases to amaze me with the annual hot blonde treatment I undergo for color correction that no one else seems to be able to maintain or replicate. Then comes the cut. I have thick thick hair that requires the proper touch to remove weight and add layers. Ladies the cut alone is worth all the 5 stars I can give. I can't tell you how much I look forward to my 2 hours in Denise's chair ever summer. If you've spent any amount of time with her you'll know she has an absolute heart of gold and truly cares about each and every one of her clients because when your hair looks good you feel fantastic and that my friends is 'Beautifying America'! read more

After living in Texas for over a year, I finally made it back to Reno to get a hot hair makeover! Denise is so easy to schedule an appointment with, and it worked out perfect since I was just in town for the weekend. I thought I was going to do a sweet honey blonde color, but I woke up that morning and decided to spice things up with pink. My hair was in pretty bad shape when I showed up, way past overdue for a cut and color, but Denise was so nice about it and totally went with my vision. Her experience allows her to take enough time to make sure everything looks perfect, while still getting through all the steps to bleach, cut, color, and style my hair quickly and even while multi-tasking. She's always professional and easy to talk to, which makes the process all that much better. It was so nice to get a text afterwards with maintenance instructions and she is even going to mail me a rose gold specific shampoo so it lasts as long as possible. I feel like a whole new person with my gorgeous bright hair, and I am already looking forward to my next visit. Can't thank you enough! read more

After not having my hair done in almost 2 years now(thank you quarantine); I desperately needed to get a cut & color for my crazy long head of hair! Denise was able to get me in for a much needed appointment(bless her heart) and the end results were stunning as always! Denise is always super helpful in deciding what I should do and it turns out better than I imagined every time. Her salon is very inviting and her great conversation just makes the time fly by! I would highly recommend Studio 1221 and Denise's hair expertise-seriously the best! read more

Denise is so amazing I just had a baby 10 months ago and hadn't had my hair really done in over a year I was feeeling so down about myself and Denise really made me feel beautiful again she's so good at what she does and was super nice and made me feel so comfortable I was able to trust her with my hair 100% which I've never been able to do in my life!! I highly recommend her I would never go to anyone else after meeting her deciding to go to her was the best thing I've done for myself in a long time I'm so happy with the out come, the pictures alone say enough even tho I could go on and on about how amazing this studio is ! read more

So ever since my purple ombre, I have been going to Denise for my colorful hair for over 8 years now. I have had every color imaginable now. Denise is amazing and so I let her paint my hair after telling her if I want to go dark or bright for my colors. I always get compliments on my hair and it's always fun to see what color combinations she will come up with. Highly recommend of you want fun colorful hair that's tastefully done. read more

Denise is AMAZING! She is professional, punctual, and talented. My hair had been tortured by quarantine boredom and landed somewhere between orange and slightly less orange. Please ladies stay away from Sun In at all costs. I left her salon happier than ever. I had ideas of the color and cut I wanted and she exceeded my expectations. I made sure to book my next appointment before leaving! And added bonus she is so fun to talk to, her salon is spotless, easy to find, and in a super cute neighborhood!! I am beyond pleased. You would need to schedule a consultation to discuss your hair goals. It depends on length, product, time and how technical the end goal is.

I think that would probably be about $160 or so, depending on your hair of course.
