My first tatoo place scheduled mid-june 2025. I researched a lot of tattoo places in the area, and slave to the needle always came up as the best. First walked in here two days ago, and was overwhelmed with the awards and the setup. I talked to Danny and he is going to hook me up with my first two tatts on each arm, simple really, but that's all I need. Will follow up.

I love this shop. Very clean and welcoming! Cami is amazing. She is so personable, she creates a comfortable environment and she checks on your wellbeing throughout. I came in with an idea and she not only executed, but improved it tenfold! She is truly an incredible artist with a keen eye for detail. I feel fortunate to have her as my artist. Forever grateful that she brought up an idea to tweak my design slightly, in the end I am so overwhelmingly happy with my piece.

This is a photo of an island hibiscus flower with a Puerto Rican tree, frog by the name of "coquí" thank you again!

Everything about my experience at Slave To The Needle was amazing. The price and the quality was right on. The artist, Mr. Duncan took his time and super talented. I won't go anywhere else. Highly recommend five stars!!!!!

Ugh. I wish I didn't live in Portland because I would have for SURE made this my go to piercing and ink place. Came in today to get my Daith and Tragus pierced. I haven't had any body work done in AGES like at least a decade so I felt a bit like a newbie but Adam made me feel SUPER comfortable. He took the time to explain everything and when I told him my intention for the piercing were for acupressure points for migraine relief he told me that there wasn't scientific backing for something like that. He also explained that what he does is very different from what a acupuncture doc does (which I totally get). He mentioned that he focuses on the aesthetics. He told me all this to play the devils advocate. I super appreciated his knowledge, but wanted to get the piercings anyways as I've had the itch to get a piercing. He was super detailed, sterile, friendly and safe. He did such an amazing job, I think the piercings look amazing. I also remember that when I used to get regular piercings I'd feel pain/discomfort for a few days.. but honestly after the jewelry was placed I felt nothing. Definitely not how I remembered, so a very pleasant surprise! Definitely will attempt to go back when I'm in Seattle again!

Got my very first tattoo a few months ago and Mariana was amazing. Although the waitlist feels a bit long, it is totally worth it. I had a 15 minute consult in November and was able to schedule the first session for December. Awesome service during each of my sessions with Mariana. She really made me feel comfortable and she's hilarious. The spaces are clean and sanitized. They always use gloves and change them. Half of the layout of the shop is open so it was interesting to see the other artists working as well. It's been almost 2 months since my last session and I'm already on the waitlist for my second tattoo!

I just got a tattoo from Danny Chan today! This is my second tattoo from him, although it has been a few years. I had a great experience! My tattoo is beautiful Go see Danny, you won't be disappointed!!

I have nothing but good things to say about Slave to the Needle!! I just got my first tattoo here yesterday and the whole experience was perfect! I'm definitely gonna get another couple tattoos and I will 1000% be going back to Elijah for those. The girl I talked to on the phone to get scheduled (Ellen) was super helpful! She got me in the same week because of a cancellation and was really helpful answering questions I had, as this was my first tattoo. Elijah was my artist and he was so cool and I fully trusted him from the moment I met him! He was really friendly and resized the stencil a little bit when I got there so it was exactly how I wanted, and helped me with all the logistics I knew absolutely nothing about. I was really worried about how bad it was gonna hurt (side note- it was no where near as bad as I thought), and he made me feel totally comfortable! I was absolutely ecstatic with how it turned out- it's absolutely perfect and I am so obsessed with it! For reference, this is on my upper rib cage. I'm definitely going to get more tattoos in the future and I'm definitely going to be coming back to Elijah for them! I cannot recommend him and this place enough. (Also just wanted to add their COVID procedures were good; everyone had a mask, there were only clean pens to use, and I felt totally safe).

Their parlor price is $200 last I heard (May 2025)

Do you do blacklight tattoo's?

Slave to the Needle does not do backlight (UV or glow-in-the-dark) tattoos. Their website's FAQ explicitly states this. There are much greater risks involved, mainly because blacklight response ink is not regulated by the FDA and the high amounts of…

You have to check in to your appointment through a QR code on the front door before they let you in to browse the jewelry selection (don't look like a dummy like me in trying to pull the doors before seeing the code). Someone will let you in and explain the jewelry selection that they have. From what I know, the prices for titanium ear piercings (I chose this) were fairly standard compared to other places. Once I chose my jewelry, I filled out an online form and waited for my piercer. Once Colin took me back to the piercing room (very clean room), he walked me through the process and explained in depth what to do and not do with a new piercing. I was able to ask him some questions about my existing cartilage piercing and I'm so grateful that I got some advice on it! My piercing process was quick and painless and I highly recommend Colin for any piercings.

It was so amazing and I was so impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted in a very nice way, my needs were heard and respected, and, oh my, what a selection of different jewelry they have to pick from, very impressive! Adam did my ear piercing and listened to where I wanted the new piercing and Adam double checked before we proceeded with the piercing. But what most impressed me was how he prioritized Sanitation. I think he must have changed his gloves four times after he touched every item needed for the process. He explained aftercare very well. Checkout was wonderful too, they made sure that I knew how to contact them at any time if I had any other questions or concerns after the fact. Oh, and they made sure I knew what the end cost would be even before the actual piercing so there are no surprises at checkout.

I am beyond furious with the way Pierced Hearts handled my sister's navel piercing. From the start,…read morethis experience has been a disaster due to sheer negligence and a complete lack of accountability. My sister clearly explained to the piercer, Jaime, that she has a very flat belly button and specifically asked if the standard navel jewelry would be appropriate. He confidently said yes -- and we trusted his professional judgment. That trust was completely misplaced. As time passed, the jewelry began to embed itself into her skin, which should never have happened with the right jewelry in the first place. We returned to the shop, and Adam helped change it to a floating navel piercing -- the type she should have received from day one. He apologized and even took a photo of the damage because it was obvious something had gone terribly wrong. But the damage had already been done. Within a week, she developed a severe infection -- one that urgent care later confirmed was likely due to the original jewelry creating a gaping wound that never healed properly. Despite following aftercare instructions to the letter, she ended up on two antibiotics and hydrocodone just to manage the pain. Yet when we returned to the shop a third time to request a refund and share what she was going through, the staff were incredibly dismissive and refused to take any responsibility. They immediately shifted blame, accusing her of neglecting aftercare, even though we were meticulous. No effort was made to offer a solution, express genuine concern, or show even the slightest empathy. Just said "well, do you want to get it pierced again?!" ... no! Her belly button area now is completely bruised and mangled because of this place. We will never be coming back here again. To make matters worse, the owner was outright disrespectful and condescending over the phone. When we told him that medical professionals advised removing the piercing and draining the infection, her arrogant response was, "Why would they do that?!" as if she knew better than actual doctors. That tone alone spoke volumes about how little they care once they have your money. We asked for a refund because of all the trouble we've been through after the negligence of the first piercer, now having to pay for urgent care visits and medication. I chose this shop based on their glowing reviews, but let me be clear: if you're considering any body piercing here, don't. They might be decent with ear piercings or tattoos -- but when it comes to body piercings, especially anything more complex, they are careless, unprofessional, and utterly unwilling to take accountability when something goes wrong. My sister went in for a simple piercing and walked away in physical pain and emotional distress, and not once did they offer real help, only excuses. This shop failed her. Completely.

I ended up paying over $700 total between a deposit, a card charge, and cash for three small finger tattoos. It was not clearly explained beforehand that the pricing was per tattoo rather than an overall estimate, which was confusing given the size and placement (these were finger tattoos, not a hand piece or larger work). The tattoos themselves are fine, but the process felt very confusing. There was also a misunderstanding regarding a cash payment that was initially assumed to be a tip, which added to the confusion. This was eventually corrected and refunded after I followed up, and I did receive receipts. Everything was ultimately resolved, but clearer communication around pricing and payment would have made this a much better experience. I recommend confirming total cost, per-tattoo pricing, and payment handling in writing before starting.
