I had my first visit to Studs, and it did not disappoint! I had a 1:00pm appointment on a Saturday and was able to check-in and choose my jewelry right away. My piercer, Red, was amazing. They took the time to ensure the placement of my new piercing was exactly where I wanted it. The pain from the piercing was barely noticeable, and after 2 weeks of healing I have no complaints. I went in and tried to be really clear about what I was looking for (new jewelry for my helix and my third piercing in each earlobe). I got my ears pierced here in Dec 2022. I scheduled an earlobe piercing appointment a few weeks beforehand online, no issues at all! It was one of my first piercings that I was nervous but the person peforming piercing was very professional and able to talk me through each step they were taking. I had a great experience, the piercing station was very clean, sterile, and cutely decorated. The piercer will ensure the operation goes exactly how YOU want it to. Note: STUDS jewlery are not the usual 20 gage size. They vary circumference, so please do you research prior to choosing your desired stud piercing. About 6 weeks later, the front part of my left ear stud broke off. The back park was still in my ear but the front part broke in half and with an imminent work travel I ran to the store as soon as they were opened. The individual at the front desk was SO KIND, communicating between the manager and myself to find me a replacement stud. They did not have the same design so I did have to choose something similar for the time being. STUDS did recommend making another appointment to get my replacement placed in my ear, but being that I wouldn't be in town at a later time, I asked for the replacement jewlery and put it in myself at home. I wish the jewlery itself was better quality. I shouldn't have to worry about it breaking only a few weeks without getting a new piercing. However I truly recommend STUDS for piercing if you're looking to get a non piercing gun experience. read more

I really wanted to love this place because the staff is super friendly and the shop itself is clean and welcoming. Unfortunately, my experience with the actual piercings was really disappointing. I got four piercings done here, and not a single one healed properly . I've had other piercings before with no issues, so I know this isn't just my body rejecting them--something about the technique or jewelry just isn't right. It's beyond frustrating to spend money on something that ultimately has to be removed due to persistent irritation, poor placement, or just never healing correctly. I appreciate the kindness of the piercers, but at the end of the day, a piercing studio needs to deliver quality piercings that actually last. Sadly, that wasn't my experience here. First the good: the piercer was a nice person who did her job well, and I'd recommend her without hesitation. Nothing exceptional in the service as the store is pretty bare bones (no offer of beverage, no wifi, no bathroom, no hot towels), but then again there was nothing exceptional or tricky in what I wanted. Check-in was smooth, albeit the cell service is terrible in here so you need to go to the door to get signal and finish the check-in waiver. My appointment was on time, no doubt due to its strict late policy. Place seemed clean and the staff was friendly and cheerful. And I was easily charmed into upgrading from basic titanium to gold. The store was packed with what seemed like girls day out groups, and easily could have been a souped up Claires. Checkout was easy enough as they are cashless. But post checkout is where Studs fails in my book. 2 piercings were $50. A very good tip at 20% would be $10. Studs has cards placed at the register that recommend $20, which is 40%, or $30 (60%), or $40 (80%)! So I thought maybe the service tip, for some reason, should include the cost of the jewelry. There seemed to be little agreement on the web and in conversation, but those who did say tip on the jewelry always bought less expensive items, e.g., $20/pair studs. I did leave $20 (Good service) but was fuming later at how I felt shamed by "tipflation". This is a store policy, as evidenced in all of its printed literature. Rather than giving employees a decent wage, it relies on the archaic and discriminatory tipping system. In addition to all this, the corporate website promises a discount of 15% if you sign up. But then an email arrives saying the discount is only good for ONLINE purchases only. Nice little bait and switch. Overall, I'd recommend something such as the more independent and less mallish laughingbuddhatattoo.com. Prices are higher but there is not the passive-aggressive strong arm tipping crap. Stop tipflation! And yes, I did contact corporate about the website discount. The canned reply is that the email restricts discounts to online only, despite the vague website. read more

I'm from California and booked an appointment at the Capitol Hill Branch. It was my first time at Studs and I wanted to get one of my piercings fixed because Claire's had placed two of my piercings too close together. Jade did a wonderful job! She listened to my concerns and helped me get a new piercing in one ear. She also helped me carefully re-open two of my previous piercings. All my piercings are healing perfectly and I felt like I was in very good hands. The girl manning the earring bar was also excellent and helped me get all the extra earrings I wanted to bring back home with me. West Village cancelled with less than 8 hours notice Seattle cancelled after I had left a brunch to make my appointment and 20 minutes prior to my appointment. I made an appointment to have my ears re-pierced after not wearing earrings for about 3 months after an accident. Annika, my piercer, checked my lobes and said they probably only only needed to be reopened, not re-pierced, which turned out to be the case. It was painless and didn't take long. She only charged me the price of a jewelry change, plus the cost of the two cute purple opal earrings.
