I LOVE Obelisk! I believe my piercer was Erin, and I could not be happier with everything she did. I went in for my birthday last year and got my left nostril and navel. My navel swelled up more than we anticipated, so back I went! Everyone was so nice and so kind. Fixed the barbell, went on with life. Went back in with a friend a couple weeks later, and found out she was doing septum piercings, and I had expressed interest the last time I was in. Got it done that day! Didn't realize the hoop I chose was too small, and ended up going back AGAIN... oops. They were still super kind, super nice. Next piercing I get I will probably come back to Obelisk, because of how awesome they are. I've also referred a few people to them! read more

Went here to get my daughters ears pierced. They were great with my daughter. and it was a calm and easy experience. They had a lot of different colors of studs to choose from. I learned the first pair of earrings have to stay in for at least 6 months! 'Back in my day' it wasn't as long. I'm glad there is options besides Claire's to get your ears pierced in a more sanitary and less damaging way! The only negative was online the price states the total should be around $140-150 with the earrings and piercing. It was over $200! So a bit of a sticker shock being $50 more than expected. I cannot say enough, good things about Obelisk, especially Erin. I went and got my nostril pierced here a few weeks ago after a really awful experience at a different piercer over the summer. First the front staff jewelry consultation was so patient and kind to me. He listened to my concerns from my previous experience and gave his full attention. He made me feel calm and didn't rush me. When it came to my piercing Erin was the calmest presence. She listened and we talked about placement for a while. Never rushed me talking or my nervousness. The piercing was quick and gentle. Fast forward three weeks. I got sick and my piercing swelled and was angry. I was able to come in for troubleshooting and again the staff was incredible. Very kind and patient front staff to start. I was scared to change out the stud as my previous piercer at a different location caused so much pain I had it removed. Erin was so calm and gentle. There is no piercing place I would recommend more. I've had probably 7 piercings done here by Abra, Naomi and Erin. This is a very warm and welcoming environment. They are always super helpful. When I had concerns after office hours, I messaged them on instagram and they responded. I've had my cartilage repierced probably 3 times (no fault of their own my body hates me) and treated with respect every time. Lucas helps me pick out jewelry so often, he's got a knack for it. I've done a nostril piercing, slight stretching of old earlobe piercings to be able to wear flat back earrings, some nose jewelry changes, and now a daith piercing. Everyone at Obelisk that's worked with me has been incredibly knowledgeable and kind. I always have a good experience at Obelisk. All of my piercings, except for my first hole in ear lobes and nostril, are from them. I went back yesterday with my sister to get a new piercing and she got a new piece for a cartilage piercing. Abra did my new piercing. Abra is very entertaining and take you through the whole process. Their jewelry is on a higher price side if you're going for something real and not a titanium crystal -- that being said, with pieces over $200, they comp the post. Worth noting that if you don't like a piece once they put it in, you can't switch it out or refund it. My sister wasn't a big fan, but they offered to help her relocate to an existing or new piercing if she wanted to. Not upset, as it's understandable, but a good tip to know going in. Planning to come back to switch out some pieces to gold for a wedding I am in next year! Such a clean studio with great selection and good help making those selections. read more

Today was my first time visiting the shop. I came in to get 2 piercings. The person at the front desk was very kind and helpful. That individual helped me pick my jewelry and was very informative about the different types of jewelry. I was very excited to get my piercings done and it's something I have been wanting to get done but was waiting until I was done with child bearing. The individual (Abra) who pierced me immediately made me feel uncomfortable even before I was seated. Abra informed me to hang my belongings. I excited did so and sat on the chair. Abra than scolded me to remove my garments, which she said when I entered but I did not hear her as her back was facing towards me while she was speaking. My husband and I were taken back by the harshness in her tone. (Are you having a bad morning, Abra??) Abra than followed very passive aggressively with "well, I can pierce through your garment but you probably wouldn't like that very much." Abra was very abrupt as though she'd rather be doing something else than servicing me for something I paid a lot of money for. I got my piercings done. Did I want to after that interaction? Absolutely not. This was not my first time getting piercings done and it was the worst experience ever. To be in such a vulnerable position and pay someone to pierce me was terrible. I was uncomfortable with the entire experience. Abra's vibes were off and my husband and I didn't not feel welcomed. Maybe we aren't the right kind of clients this establishment is used to. I've been here a few times and every-time I've gone I have had some type of problem after I leave. I did my nostril piercing myself, and had absolutely ZERO problems while having a stud for 6-7 months. When I went in for a checkup/ jewelry change to a hoop I asked questions about irritation and all sorts, and they told me a small feeling of irritation will be fine and will go away. It's been 4-5 months of having the gold hoop in my nostril that they installed, and I realized when I got home, the hoop is dented. Which is extremely disappointing considering I paid like 100 or so for it. I immediately starting having problems with my nostril after getting the hoop in, within the same day I had a bump filled with puss that lasted a few days after as well, and ever since then I've just had a large irritation bump that is res, big, and ugly. I wish they would've mentioned a possibility of this when changing to a hoop. I followed all aftercare instructions (this wasn't my first facial piercing) Another instance is more recent, I got my naval piercing yesterday and when I got home I noticed it's crooked.... I have to agree with a past review Abra does have a heavy hand, I feel like the piercing was quite slow and painful, the amount of skin between the top and bottom is quite a lot and looks a little odd. Overall, the staff is amazing and very sweet, helpful and wonderful! I just wish my experiences were better considering the costs. read more

Last week, I went in to have around 12 of my piercings swapped out for new jewelry and to get my septum pierced. Lucas did a great job of advising which styles would look good together and I'm very pleased with my new look! Abra was very sweet, very communicative, and she did a great job of piercing me. The experience was totally painless until it came to inserting and swapping out my jewelry. In this respect, Abra is very heavy handed. Upon leaving, I noticed that the ball on my captive ring was not captive, and a few days later the moonstone on one of my nose studs fell out. I visited today to have this addressed, and I was pleased that they didn't charge me for a replacement nose stud or for the adjustment of my septum. Once again, Abra was very heavy handed (I shed a few tears) and upon leaving, the ball in my captive ring is still not captive and now the ring is bent out of shape. I can't imagine Abra would've sent me away if she knew the ring was like this, so I have to imagine that part of the problem is how dimly lit the shop is. Every other piercing shop I've ever been to has been a lot brighter than this place. I want to give them 5 stars for their customer service, but given how painful this experience has been, I can't justify it. read more

This is one of the situations where I wish I could rate the staff separately from the business. The staff is very nice. The person at the front desk the last time I was in was quiet and reserved but still nice. The two individuals who installed jewelry for me were lovely. Nice to chat with, very informative, and during my last visit was honest that none of my piercings had closed like I thought and were able to get jewelry in. Overall the staff for me are 5 stars. My challenges with Obelisk are their pricing practices. There are many reviews that say they are expensive. Some more context around that. Each piece is priced individually so keep that in mind if you need more than one piece. One 3mm flat stud costs around $75. The cute ones with the stones they show on their insta are going to be more. Obelisk does not post its prices anywhere. Not even on the pieces in the store. You have to ask for each piece's price. For me, this made for an awkward and uncomfortable shopping experience. I had 0 context for their price points, I just saw the cute jewelry they posted on their social media and their site. The experience made me feel othered and like I didn't belong in the store. Jewelry doesn't come with backings you have to buy them separately at $20 a piece. They are flatbacks, which I have seen as upgrades elsewhere but that doesn't seem to be the case here. The only option was to purchase the backs which was very unexpected. I needed 4 so I paid $80 just for backings. They use the standard tipping feature on their register system. I was already flustered from my shopping experience and ended up hitting the 20% button not realizing I was tipping on the cost of my jewelry. So they got a $150 tip for a 20-minute appointment. There is someone else in these reviews who also made this mistake. According to my receipt, they have a no-return and no-exchange policy. On one level I get it, especially for jewelry used in new piercings. But on simple jewelry purchases, I struggle. There are plenty of other earing retailers with the same quality pieces that will do returns and exchanges. And sometimes you don't know until you've worn something whether you're going to have a reaction or if it's going to work for your lifestyle. As it stands I absolutely hate one set that I purchased, but they're still in my ears because they were so expensive and for better or worse we're stuck together for life. To me a 3-star is average. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going to Obelisk, I would just give them the above information so they could make a truly informed decision if this is the best fit for them financially. read more

Ick. That's the feeling I get from this establishment. I went there based on good reviews to get my nose re-pierced. It was easy enough to book an appt and that's about the only plus I've found to this place. When I got the piercing, the piercer was super abrupt with me and barely glossed through aftercare. She seemed to be in some huge rush, despite I was there by appt only. I picked out my pretty expensive gem stone three prong nose ring and was rung up by the piercer. Her rushed energy spilled over in our transaction and I quickly used my card for the transaction and didn't immediately notice that she combined the service charge with the jewelry charge and then asked for a tip based on price of the product with the price of the service. I realized after I walked out the door that I pressed a percentage amount for tip that included my jewelry. She quickly walked away after I got my debit card and now I know why. I ended up calling back and requesting a partial refund on the tip. I came back to this place months later, only because of the extensive and cool jewelry selection. It was stuffy AF and super uncomfortable. I took my daughter with me and as she was pointing to a piece that she liked for me, she was quickly reprimanded by the front desk clerk. We were told over and over again that we weren't allowed to touch. I couldn't see how the jewelry looked against my skin. The clerk had no recommendations or helpful tips to picking anything out. It was like we were bugs on his shoe. We clearly weren't the right type of client for this place. They were just missing the sign from the 1950s. read more

I booked the piercing appointment as well as a consultation regarding another piercing. For the consultation, I received honest and realistic advice which I really appreciated. Regarding the actual piercing process - when you arrive you pick out the jewelry you want. The jewelry prices are on the steeper side so be prepared for that, but I feel like the quality is worth it and they have a pretty good assortment with lots of cute options. She also told me an interesting fact which would have been great to know from the top - dermal anchors only last a year or so, two years is great and three years is phenomenal. Got my nostril pierced my Naomi. Wonderful job, place was very clean and very professional with an amazing "little shop" vibe that was carried on to the employees. Amazing casual vibe that takes the work seriously. They didn't try to upsell me on any specific piece of jewelry to make it more expensive. They wanted to make sure that I was happy with my options. The whole thing from entering, paperwork, picking out jewelry, the procedure, cleanup and debrief was 20 minutes. Super quick and very attentive to detail. They also do all these additional services that I had no idea I could get. Consultations, free checkups, fittings and installations, aftercare and troubleshooting. If I ran into any problems or questions I was encouraged to call. One thing I will say is that this isn't a $50 place. The entire thing including the jewelry was ~$100 not including tip. But you are paying for amazing service, quality jewelry, competent and friendly staff and supporting a small business on-top of it all. I look forward to going back! read more

I believe in their jewelry choice because after getting so many infection for my earlobe piercing, Obelisk advised me to use titanium post and that worked out perfectly. Honestly, one of my best experiences in piercing ever. The studio is SO clean, and they are taking the pandemic incredibly seriously, which - is nice when you have someone so close to your face, ears, etc :) They did a fantastic job helping me pick out jewelry, and the piercing experiences was so quick, and made it as pain free as possible - to a point I was SHOCKED it was done (as in, "wait, really? Worst! The absolute worst place to get a piercing done. I came in I wanna say in October and had the front piercing of my double piercing done. I specifically stated that I wanted the inserts to line up. Abra pierced it way below, and I was not happy about that. Then I spoke with Naomi and she repierced my nose and they lined up but I noticed that the front hoop was way smaller and tighter on my nose then the back, she mentioned that if it doesn't fall into place and match the back within two weeks to come back and she'd replace it. Well it's been a few months and It's still very tight, after many attempted calls I finally got through and explained the situation, I said I wanted the back piercing to match the front and be a little tighter as it literally overlaps the front, the guy at the front explained that sometimes at the angel it goes in, it can give the illusion it is bigger, but intact the front is definitely a different gauge size. I was told it would be replaced with no charge but then after driving back to the establishment for different times I was told I would be charged. Such a waste of time and energy for a nose piercing. I HIGHLY recommend you avoid this piercing location!!! You won't be happy, that's for sure!! read more

She did a great job helping my future sister in law and I choosing our earrings and making us feel comfortable while we upgraded old earings and had new piercings done. Will definitely go back for future piercings and upgrades. Update I went with my coworker, as I had recommended it to her. We were met by someone else, as Naomi was not there. This person was passive aggressive about servicing us as it was almost closing time. It was awkward. My coworker got her piercings and I did not end up getting anything. I walked in willing to spend a few hundred to get great quality pieces but was turned off by the chicks's passive aggressive comments. I was a little late because I could not find parking (tip- park in the library) but thankfully they were very calm about it.
