Jewelry was disorganized and store was not in the greatest condition compared to the last few times I was here. Lots of face piercings and didn't get her name, but she was super helpful and so I decided to purchase some gauges. Normally I shop online but what I was looking for they had, bought a few pairs and thought the prices were reasonable. I will be going back for some more jewelry for my other peircings, nice to be able to walk in and find a good selection. It seems like there are some reviews that may have had some issues with piercings, but as a person who use to work and do some basic piercings many moons ago , I get how it can be a hit or miss with placements, people , skin, care... etc... can't speak to that. I'm adding my review here as well, I think people should avoid this place unfortunately. I went to BJP to get a third lobe piercing on a saturday, I went to them for my second lobe piercing so I thought it would be fine. My piercer, I totally forgot his name, was kind and seemed professional and careful. I was originally happy with my piercings and they looked great from the front. A few days later I realized that my left piercing was pierced at an angle so the back of the piercing was through the cartilage in the back of my ear. It was painful and tender, very obviously done wrong especially when compared to the left ear that looked and felt fine. I went back on monday, and the same piercer completely dismissed my concerns and told me "it's just because the jewelry is long" INCORRECT! The jewelry was too short because it was pierced wrong and digging into my skin and causing pain. I wanted it redone but he told me to leave it. I left pretty upset he dismissed me. Today I went to a piercer recommended to me for a second opinion. They told me it was absolutely placed incorrectly and was 2-3 millimeters out of place and pierced through my cartilage and were shocked I was turned away. They helped me take it out and will re-pierce it for me after letting it heal. I spent 100$ plus tip for this piercing and now I will have to spend 40-60$ more to get it fixed because BJP refused to help. At this point I will tell everyone to steer clear of them, and the only thing and the least that BJP can do is refund me at least half of the money I paid since only one of my piercings came out well. I'm really not someone who makes a fuss but I may have to call a manager about this, I don't think this person should be piercing anyone. Many people also told me it was botched. The service was okay, my boyfriend and I went to get my nose piecing jewelry changed since I still had the original post in and it bothered me because of how long it was (typing this out with that same post I got it pierced with in.) they were efficient enough I guess I think she kind of forgot I was there and was helping another guest for like five minutes. Once I got back with the piercer it was really fast and didn't hurt much at all, but he failed to tighten the jewelry enough and the stone came unscrewed from the post the day after and continued to fall out until I fully lost it in my boyfriends car which is why I have the original jewelry in now. I tried this place out because of a friend's recommendation but honestly would never get pierced here again. It was my first time at this place and from the start the vibe was off. The people working didn't know too much about the products or how the store was set up, they constantly had to ask for a manger's help. The piercer never introduced themselves just sighed and went to the back. I got a rook and a conch which do hurt but this was so much more painful. They had me inhale-exhale for the actual piercing portion but only pushed the needle when I had stopped breathing in/out. At first it was fine, normal swelling and pain. I used the saline solution they provided and followed their care instructions exactly. After about half a week my ear was deep red, swollen, and painful even without touching it. This place has a decent selection for relatively low prices but the quality of products and service is just sad. It's so much more worth the time and money to go to a place like Skin and Soul for piercings. Sure it's a little more expensive and you have to make an appointment but the overall quality is significantly better. read more

My daughter came here to get her second ear piercing. The person piercing marked two spots and she asked him to make the piercing higher, he rolled his eyes and told her not to, however the marked dot was extremely close to her first piercing. She told him that was what she wanted and he scoffed, but moved it higher. He pierced the first then when he did the other, barely moving the marking (still extremely close to first piercing, after she had voiced this concern when asking him to move the markings). She didn't notice this until later and wasn't able to do anything about it. I will also note he was very rude after she interrupted him flirting with his co-worker when asking for the service. This was 7-8 months ago and she now is restricted about the size earrings she can wear together and gets comments about it when wearing earrings. read more

I went in to have some jewelry changed out for my nose piercing. The person at the front desk was SO nice and helpful. She gets 5 stars. (the reason for the 2 star rating) The piercer on the other hand affected this review. I have had my piercing for about 15 years and have had the jewelry changed at other places at least a dozen times. I have never had an unpleasant experience having it done. The piercer was clearly struggling to put in my stud and was saying things like "the jewelry wasn't cooperating" etc. She then admitted that she was unable to be gentle because of my jewelry. NO. She clearly didn't know what she is doing. My nose feels like it is newly pierced this morning and I had to do a saline soak. I will never go there again. Don't do it. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE!! I've given this shop too many chances for the employees to be having a good day or not be feeling tired. I now realize I've only been making excuses for the low quality of service compared to the overcharged prices, (prices jacked up despite its standard quality of products). EVERY time I've come in, I've been let down. First two times I came in, different days and times, the piercer wasn't in. There's only one- surprising for the overwhelming amount of jewelry they have on display. Whenever I was able to catch him, he ALWAYS hurt me. This was especially frustrating because I have many piercings and a high pain tolerance. He didn't seem to care much about changing his technique. He kept asking if my piercing, which I've had over a year now, was still sore- even though it will have been months between my visits back to this shop. How about you try to change positions? NO finesse. Every visit was always some sort of let down: they didn't have regular black hoops, a standard size surgical steel bar, the sales girls always made me feel rushed as I'm trying to comb through the displays, always tried to befool me into an up-sale (as if I don't know my own body)... I got my medusa pierced and it was super crooked and he ended up piercing me two and a half time because he couldn't get the jewelry in !! I go into BJP all the time. Whether you're window shopping, planning your next tattoo, or just stopping in for a chat, the staff is always friendly and amazing. I got my first tattoo from Kawika earlier this year, and he was really friendly and attentive through the whole experience. I'm going back soon for another tattoo. I just got my first nostril piercing here a few days ago. I've been wanting one for a while and come across this store in Northgate. The cashier/receptionist is super nice and very friendly. The male piercer got it done without major pain-which at first I thought would be worse than my cartilage piercing with a gun as I never got pierced with a needle. I wish though that he let me see the placement of where the piercing is going to be, and what the jewelry looks like before the actual procedure. I do like where it is now and how the jewelry looks, but just thought it would be nicer if I know it beforehand. After reading the previous reviews, yeah I can see a bunch of mall rats coming in to say "OMG. How much is it to get, like, my nose pierced?!?" But that's the risk you take when you go to the mall, one of the many reasons why I try to avoid them at all costs. After a massive search for green semi permanent hair dye I ended up at BJP after a referral from a display and costume employee. The store was very clean and although there was a bit of a wait to be helped, the clerk took her time with another customer which is something I can appreciate- who, for the record, didn't try on the piercings. I had my daughter with me so didn't have the chance to look at the jewelry more closely but they had what I needed which makes me happy. It's hard to find alternative hair dye in colors other than pink and blue so I'm so happy they not only had green but I had a choice between "Iguana Green" and "Limelight" which saved me a trip downtown. On the plus side, I'm always on the lookout for new tattoo shops and when I get the chance, I'll come back for a consult even if it is in a mall. read more

Five stars for Mikey Vella!!! Mikey has done my last two tattoos now and both have been absolutely amazing, my favorite thing about him is how into his art he is. He takes a lot of time to perfect his drawings and make sure everything is exactly how you want it, which means a lot knowing your going to have his art on you forever. He is easily the most sanitary person i know which is important to everyone! I have to say he has technique, both tattoos he has done have healed beautifully and come out better then i could have imagined. The woman in the store showed me what I was looking for but then explained to me another option, a threadless post, that was a better product for me. I came in here the other day to get a replacement ball for my bioplast monroe jewelry. I was greeted by some girl whose name I found out was Kendra. She said hi and asked if I needed help finding anything. I told her what I was looking for and she said "they're over here," and randomly pointed to a display case. UM OK...show me! She walked over and said these 3 boxes (all on top of each other) are what you're looking for. I started looking at them and she took her time taking them out. She asked to make sure I had gotten my bar there (so the ball would fit). I picked a simple ball and she asked if I knew about the no return/exchange policy. I said yes as I get a majority of my jewelry here. (assuming I'm getting the right jewelry) She checks me out, the whole time not smiling, kind of seemed like she had an attitude. I definitely did not feel like I was welcome here. I got home and tried putting the ball in. It COMPLETELY fell out. I have other jewelry pieces from here that fit in just fine when I switch them out so I'm pretty sure I was given the wrong size. I called today and some guy answered. I told him what happened and he explained the bioplast can sometimes stretch out so I told him that I had other jewelry that fit. I always see their little sign saying "let us know how our customer service is." Well I'm letting you know now, It's not good. At least pretend like you enjoy your job and smile. Maybe double check to get the right size, especially if you have a no return/exchange policy when i'm buying a $6.00 ball. read more
