I don't think she fully grasp the idea and she made something that didn't have shading. I emailed her the following morning and she said that she will do what it takes to fix it. My cousin and her friends (5 of us total) were visiting Seattle for the first time and we decided last minuet to get tattoos. I only came here as a drop in since my regular tattoo artist was booked 3 weeks in advance. I really wanted to get a tattoo on a specific day to commemorate something and Idolize was open. Really unhappy with the work done by Katy and with the fact that they stood by their poor tattoo execution, instead of offering to correct it or giving me a refund. $150 for a tat plus $30 for a tip down the toilet.. - She used the wrong size needles on my tattoo - She was very heavy handed on the tattoo - She stretched the skin too much, there was some of blow out - The black ink was not distributed correctly * After correcting my tattoo in another shop, I realized that Idolize also - Did not show expiration date of the needle - Did not have sanitary covers on the table - I had to lay on the bed without head support, which was very uncomfortable. A seat would have been a much better choice. * They were friendly, that's the only plus. This was her email response to my concerns (maybe her boss told her to say it, I don't know). "Again, the skin being textured while still in the healing process can seem to warp or distort some parts. I see what you mean about some of the angles not appearing as sharp, but small details like these are within the range of normal variation between the stencil and the finished tattoo. Tattoos are a handmade piece of art, not a photocopy, and you have to allow for some tiny variances for a 2-dimensional flat design that has been transferred to a 3-dimensional, curved, soft surface. As the ink heals and settles into the skin, it will spread a bit, so in a few months the tiny angles and lines will all smooth out anyway." - Sounds like an excuse I attached pics from when the tattoo was already healed done by Idolize, My Design and Corrected Version by another artist. As you can see, the design was super easy, and it wasn't that difficult to take the time to select the correct size needle and do a diligent job. She said in the email "You approved the design before I tattooed it and you approved the final product before you left the shop." Design stencil was good, but when I left the shop, the tattoo was so swollen, and the lines were so warped, it was hard to see how crooked they will end up. I am just really sad that an artist and a business would stand by their poor work. I don't recommend this shop. They are never booked and always begging for customers, and that should say something. What I learned is that a quality shop will always offer a refund or a chance to fix the issue, and a good artist is usually booked a few weeks ahead. This will be the first and last time I ever go to this tattoo shop. My friend and I went in for matching tattoos and I would have to say that customer service was sh*tty. If my friend wasn't flying back home August 7th I would have never used this tattoo parlor. Because I wasn't able to get an appointment with my go to tattoo parlor before her departure. I decided to google a shop that was near by and able to take walk-ins. I checked their reviews before making the call and they happen to be a 4 star according to yelp. So, you would figure they're good enough lol. So, I made the call for availability and the guy who answered said they can take us. Didn't know when you bring in your sketch drawing, they would keep you in the dark while the tattoo artist was in the back room drawing it up? Matt who happens to be the artist who takes walk-ins was not the easiest to work with. He seemed very anal and didn't give two sh*ts about what he was going to be do to our skin. I mean a tattoo is forever and I'm paying you so you should give us the best experience possible. As you are drawing up the sketch you should ask us how we feel about it and what we would like to see in the drawing. I felt like he was acting if we're were suppose to accept anything he came back with. I told him to make changes and he was giving funny vibes and saying some bs I didnt like. At that very moment we should have left!! This tattoo is probably the worst piece I have coming from a professional environment. The shading was horrible!! It look like crap and now I have to book another shop to fix his work. I would never use them again. I would give them a negative star if possible to be honest. read more

How do I even begin with this place? I've gotten a couple tattoos done now, but I've never had customer service like I have at this place. I was the dreaded walk-in appointment. I don't live on this side of the state, and with a day off in Seattle decided to get a tattoo that I'd been delaying for quiet some time. I called up Idolize and they said they had an opening and I could come on down. I rushed down, and Ping was there. I showed her a couple of designs that I had in mind, and she took some time to hand design a combination of all of them. Like WHAT? I don't know if that's normal everywhere else, but I was blown away. And I was even more blown away at her talent and the design that she produced. Once everything was ready, I laid down to get tattooed and she warned me that there might be some sensitive spots and just to let her know if it hurts. Ping was so light handed, and so careful it all felt very tolerable. Ping was also very detailed and took her time with her work. She went over her lines very carefully, and kept the shop open an extra 45 minutes just to finish up my tattoo. I appreciated her doing that so so much, and just how well she took care of me. Came in to get a flash tattoo on Friday the 13th and the man at the front desk was so rude to me and my friends and would only let 2 of us get tattoos when we had 4 people. Waited about 1.5 hours and then when it was time to get the tattoo I asked the artist if I could get it with a thinner needle (as it was already thick) and was told "we don't have one" but there was literally someone in the lobby who got the same tattoo BUT WITH A THINNER NEEDLE FROM THE SAME GUY!? Then to make it even worse, I compared my tattoo with someone in the lobby who got the same tattoo (they were fixed designs) and my design was completely different from the original stencil. We didn't have an appointment and based on the time we arrived the wait was not bad at all. They have a nice waiting area and plenty of artwork to admire while you wait. I can't say enough good things about this tattoo shop. I had an appointment with Ping on November 9th and she was so beyond helpful with turning my vision into a reality. She was so knowledgable and made sure to explain why certain ideas would/wouldn't work when I brought in my inspiration photos to show her. She came up with a completely unique design and my tattoo came out so much better than what I had originally imagined. My husband was able to book with Henry James for just a few days after my appointment and Henry was equally fantastic to work with. He took my husband's original design and tweaked it to make it even better, and Henry genuinely seemed excited and interested in making the piece the best it could be by playing around with the layout and trying out several different ideas.
