I happened to walk in by chance, and the entire process--from making an appointment to the consultation--was very professional. After asking about my tattoo ideas, they recommended my tattoo artist, Rich, because he has a different specialty. His strength is portraits, and he has been working in the industry for nearly 30 years. Environment: The shop is very clean and tidy, with comfortable lighting and wide seats. The walls are covered with tattoo designs and related awards. Experience: During the tattooing process, the procedures were absolutely clean and sterile. Stopped in on a Saturday to get a tattoo all artist busy, understandable. Left what I wanted with phone number expecting a call the next day to set up appointment. No return call. Called Monday asking if I could come in later in the afternoon. Person who answered the phone very rude, I asked where my art was (as it was the only copy I had) he said he didn't know and wasn't going to be held accountable for something when he wasn't there. Now I have to recreate art and try and find new studio. The staff needs to learn customer service. Very unhelpful. read more

I recently got a tattoo there, my very first one at the shop it's a leg piece (Harley Quinn) by Mike. Everyone loves my tattoo! Especially me! The shop had good energy. I went into the shop randomly for a tattoo. I wasn't sure what I wanted to get. Once I decided that I wanted 3 pandas, I left the creative part to the artist, Nicole. Once she drew it up, I asked if she could make one of the pandas more "girlish" to represent my kids, one of them being my daughter... she didn't know how to do that and said pandas weren't identified by their genders..I asked her to please add a flower to one of them. I also asked for pink cherry blossoms, but she quickly replied with saying my skin was too melanated for color..even though both of my other tattoos have color. My skin would have accepted color. If you have melanated skin, I would suggest booking with another artist. She was polite and I love my tattoo, but I feel a more experienced artist could have added color to my tattoo. read more

I called to ask if they had time for a walk-in in the afternoon for a piercing, and after first correcting my pronunciation (very rudely), the man said he "wanted to get out of there" and "how early could I come". He then gave me a time and asked if I could make it. I told him I didn't know, I was busy at the moment and was hoping for a walk-in, to which he cut me off and responded "'I don't know' isn't an appointment". I went in for a small face tattoo to cover up a scar. Drama was the one who had done it and did a PHENOMENAL job. I was a walk in and she fit me in so quick. The line work is great. got a tattoo done by Lisa on august 29th, which she is an amazing artist and i love how the first half of it turned out. after doing the first session we set up another appointment 3 weeks out to get it finished and shaded. on the night before said appointment, she asked to reschedule because she said she would not be able to make it work. I told her that was fine and we could choose another day. we then set the date up for OCT 11, then come the day of this appointment she messaged me saying it would not work again since she woke up with a sore throat. once again, I said ok to reschedule for the 2nd time. we set the 3RD RESCHEDULED date for the following Monday at 4:30. AGAIN, come the day of this appointment she messaged me at 2pm saying she couldn't figure out if this day would work and that she would message me in a bit to let me know. at this point im frustrated since I would be rescheduled once again, and I really just want to get my tattoo finished. 4;30 passes and she never messages me at all and still hasn't, to reschedule for the 4th time, and now im here with an unfinished tattoo and I have already reached out to another location with another artist to get this finished. super upsetting because I had already paid in full just assuming that I would get this done and not be rescheduled so many times. not only that, but I will have to get my tattoo finished by someone else. my tattoo looks amazing and the line work is great and that's why I gave 2 stars. but its really frustrating how many times I have been rescheduled by Lisa. at this point it is almost November and I will have been waiting 2 months to get this done. this was my first experience with action tattoo and unfortunately it will be my last. read more

I had been really happy with action until my last tattoo. My tattoo got a pretty severe infection. I'm a reasonable person and know that despite best efforts things can just happen. I sent a message to the artist that did my tattoo letting him know it was infected. I thought he'd want to know. He responded with a question followed immediately by an excuse then not another word. I guess I would have expected there to be some reassurance that they use the cleanest practices possible and maybe even an " I Hope you feel better " I was hoping that when I told him about my infection it would make him want to triple check that he was doing everything correctly. I just got the impression he didn't really care. Even if he didn't care at all I should never know The owner was kind enough to reach out to me after I posted my review. I sincerely appreciate that. However after the severity of this infection I will NEVER get another tattoo. read more

My appointment got rescheduled three times after waiting two months for my initial appointment. And then on the fourth reschedule I asked for a refund. My artist said I would have my money back by the end of the night. I waited two weeks for it to be refunded, after being told multiple times they just didn't have my money. Terrible. Got a tattoo two weeks ago, followed procedure for the healing process and one of the words is completely gone. I was told that touch ups on a finger tattoo would be out of pocket. Understandable, however, one of the words was never a tattoo to begin with. So I contact max via Instagram, hoping we can work something out. Considering I haven't even had the tattoo for over two weeks, I was really hoping he could fix his mistake, which was not tattooing properly. Cause had he tattooed properly it wouldn't have faded a week after I got it. Ridiculous. Anyway, he proceeds to tell me it'll cost me to fix his mistake. I wouldn't leave such a terrible review, had he just worked with me and fixed his mistake. I understand finger tattoos fade over time but It hasn't even been a month and one of the words completely came off and the other part of the tattoo is also half ass. Makes the establishment look bad, definitely won't be returning or recommending. Someone I know got a tattoo here and I absolutely loved it so they recommended this to me. I was the most hated of customers: the walk in. My cousin and I decided to get tattoos together today, instead of waiting till after I found a shop up here. After a few minutes of research, I decided to check out this place first. Honestly, the price was a little higher than what I had self estimated, but I liked the vibe and cleanliness of the shop, and the guys all seemed qualified and able, especially since they were squeezing us into their schedule. Boy did we choose right! I was lucky enough to get mine done by Rich, the owner. He was funny, friendly, quick and light handed (this was tattoo number 5, first one on my foot though). His lines are CLEAN. He obviously takes pride in his work, and I was impressed that he enjoys drawing them on by hand. I already have several more planned, and while I was Initially going to hunt around (they are more detailed than the quickie I got today), I am already done looking! Went in with my mother and wife to get some matching tattoos for Christmas. Contacted Lisa Hill on a recommendation and made an appointment that was within 10 days. Showed up for our appointment and she had the stencil ready for review and was completely ready to go. Got all three of us in and out under an hour and forty-five. I booked my appointment with Lisa via email, and had to reschedule because she had accidently doubled booked me. No big deal. We set a different date for 11:30. The day of the appointment at 5:00 A:M, she messages me and says she has me down for 12:30, but it would be really great if I could come in at 1:00. I was confused since the appointment was for 11:30 not 12:30 but I said it was fine. Then she texted me 20 minutes before the appointment and said she would be there a little after 1:00, since she forgot to fill her gas tank. I was also running a bit late because of traffic so I thought no big deal. I got there at 1:15 and was told to wait In the lobby until she was ready. I waited for around 25-30 minutes and she finally comes out and doesn't even introduce herself to me. Just asks if I brought a picture for the stencil and if I'm the one getting the tattoo with the violin guy. After that it took her 35-40 minutes to get my stencil done. In the middle of this she stopped what she was doing because someone came in and wanted to book her for a tattoo and show her their ideas. I was annoyed at this point because my appointment was supposed to start over an hour ago, I should have left and I would have if I hadn't already payed in advance. She finally starts my tattoo at 2:45 and the stencil looked iffy at best. I repeat I should have left but I didn't. She stopped 15 minutes after starting to do something on her phone, then again a while later to message her next client. I think she was hurrying through my tattoo because she had another appointment right after mine. She also told me while tattooing me that "this tattoo is way harder to do than I thought". Which of course is a TOTALLY reassuring thing to hear from the person who's tattooing you. Overall the tattoo looks like a terrible off brand version of what I asked for. There are so many details missing and the lines are super thin. There are even parts that didn't take and now there's weird gaps in the tattoo. The artist told me they could do my tattoo "no problem" but it was obviously well above their skill level. I'm so upset, this was my first tattoo and I was so excited. Now I going to have to get a cover up or have it removed completely. So disappointing. read more

If you are thinking of coming here to get a piercing, DO IT! Max their piercer is awesome. I've had plenty of piercings before from other shops, one of which was my room which was extremely painful and healed horribly. After that experience I came to Max at Action Tattoo to have it re pierced and I barely felt a thing! 9 months later it is healed nicely! I went back to him today for a conch and 2 lobe piercings. Backstory: I originally went to another local shop, whom I contacted through facebook initially, and had sent in my own drawing to see if one of their artist could put it on me. So they said of course, set me up with an appointment, and I went, only to leave this consultation completely embarrassed and upset. The artist I was supposed to meet with was busy tattooing somebody and sent his apprentice over, who told me that they weren't willing to put my own drawing on me UNLESS I allowed the tattoo artist to re-draw it and make it his own, because their artists "won't send out clients with substandard work", while pointing to my drawing. WOW! Mind you, when I first initially contacted them, I was very clear that I wanted my own drawing tattooed on me, and the receptionist agreed that they could do that. The apprentice continued to ramble about how the artists there need to be proud of their work, and when they tattoo people, it's like sending them out into the world with THEIR stamp, and yadda yadda yadda. Then when I asked if I could see what he comes up with before I commit, I was told I would have to pay a $80 non-refundable deposit but that it would go towards the tattoo. I said I would think about it and left. So then I turned to FB to voice my frustrations, and then a friend had recommended Ben with Action Tattoo. Gave me his email, and I sent him my drawing and was again clear about what I wanted, and you know what? He was the nicest guy ever. Said that yes, he could do this for me, BUT he highly recommended that I would let him redraw it to clean it up and make it more tattoo friendly so that it holds up over time, defining details, while keeping my concept. OF COURSE I agreed to that. Didn't make unnecessary comments about my drawing being "substandard". Didn't give me some high and mighty speech about his work and what his requirements were. THAT'S how you get business. Ben's redrawing exceeded my expectations. He kept my concept and made it a better tattoo than I ever imagined. I'm just blown away on how good it came out. He was focused, didn't mess around, I didn't have to say much (which is awesome because I'm awkward enough), and was just all around awesome. The whole experience. I cannot WAIT to get my next piece. Especially in tattooing, customer service and friendly attitudes are a big deal to me. You walk in and the shop looks amazing. They are blaring hardcore metal music, which is their taste, but it could be more of a level where I didn't have to ask them to turn it down to even hear them talk. I arrive 30 minutes before my appointment and Im not greeted. I eventually had to hunt down a guy not inking someone to just let them know I was there. Strike one. He was excessively rude and not very approachable. He smelled. They were openly using e-cigarette vapor things which is another thing I frowned on. They had my artwork for a week and it wasn't even ready on transfer paper. He said "No problem" and told me to have a seat. My appointment was at 3 PM and at 3:47 he came up and said "Yeah I couldn't get it to trace right, it pixelated when I blew it up in Photoshop". So then I asked him if he changed his DPI settings to handle it at higher resolution (I have a graphic design degree) and he looked at me like I was speaking greek. He then said "Well its not really my type of tattoo I do". Then why did you take the damn appointment? Why did you make me wait for an hour and a half? And then he said "I just find the subject matter kind of dumb". So. Unprofessional? Check. Rude? Check. Ignorant about his job? Check. Why you would go here after reading this review I have NO idea. For you piercers out there: Two ladies walked in and the guy guy with huge holes in his ears yells "WHATCHA HERE FOR?!" (surprise surprise they get greeted) and they said "Piercing." and he said "WHATCHA WANT PIERECED?" and they clearly didn't want to say it out loud but he kept badgering them till they replied "Nipples" to which he got a big grin, nodded his head and said "Fuckin right, I'll be right there." HIGHLY DISSATISFIED PLEASE READ BEFORE GETTING PIERCING! I am a store manager at a small business, and am allowed to have my nostril pierced with a small stone, so I came into Action tattoo since they seemed to have good ratings, and reviews. My piercer was Chris, I told him from previous experience that my nose tends to swell more than the normal person and asked him to make the post a little longer to give it room to breath. Instead he made the post too short causing it to embed inside my nose, making me unable to flip the nose ring so it wasn't visible from the inside. I came in twice to have him change the jewelry, both times he was unavailable. I delt with the pain for more than a week, then came in today to have the worst experience I have ever had in my life, I've had over 20 piercings since I was 18 never had issues. I came in to have Chris change the jewelry, I suggested a hoop since I figured it would heal easier. Instead he decides to put a lip ring in my nostril, I didn't realize how large it actually was, nor did I know he was going to have such a hard time putting it in. It was the worst pain I have ever experienced, having 7 tattoos and have had many piercings that's saying a lot. I notice I am bleeding, and ask him to clean it off, he begins to get frustrated. He was very rude, uncaring, and thought he knew what was best since "he's been piercing for 19 years." I got out to my car after being in excruciating pain, and look at my nose, swollen, red, bloody, and the nose ring is sticking about half a cm out of my nose. I am and was not satisfied, went inside to ask for a refund since as soon as it doesn't hurt so badly, I will remove it myself. The way he responded was the most shocking, totally rude and refusing to give me the refund. Told me he would put the hoop in, but I can't believe he would even suggest that since I am in so much pain, and it looks so horrible. This guy should not be a piercer, he has absolutely no customer service whatsoever! I will never return to this place, and I feel sorry for his apprentice, she should go to a different shop, and train with someone who knows what they are doing and won't be a total waste of her time. This place is very rude. The lady at the front desk made no effort to try and fit me in so I could get my sleeve completed, she was rude and gave no effort to compromise with me, she made no effort to make sure that I would want to come back. She had a snippy attitude with me right from the moment i walked in the door at 1100, she rolled her eyes when I had asked if I could get a tattoo today and immediately said no because most artist didn't come in until 100PM. I asked her if she could look on their schedules to see if they could fit me in she looked at me and said no it would be a waste of her time. I would give it no stars if I could, very rude and uncaring staff. I will not be going back of recommending this place to my clients that want more ink. read more
