1 star based on my interactions with Alex (xelian encounters, xelian art, alex xela, etc) as this was my first tattoo, and the experience was worse than I ever feared. Last year, Alex was posting $50 flash every week with limited slots. Once a design was picked, it was taken off the roster for others to choose and we were told they wouldn't be done again. So I was really keen on getting a particular design. I checked their profile as often as possible hoping for a slot. After about a month. I got one. When I got to the studio, I was told that the art would actually take two sessions, so $100, not $50. Even though no other person from that page seemed to have had two sessions, I thought "no problem. This is a b-day present to myself (may 31) so plenty of time, and it will be so good with separated session, cos different focus. oddly, We ended up only taking 1.5 hours of the 4 hour slot, with no breaks. I left $80 - tattoo and tip. (I will say,if she just wanted $100 plus tip I would have totally done that as the bus ride down there was longer than the session, and I had just gotten money from the ATM. Like I would have just left 200 or something and been done with it) Sadly, after then she was booked for the summer. I last spoke to her at the end of July, when my adopted dad had just taken his life. It was about August but I was not in a place to schedule anything with anyone at the time. A little after that I couldn't find her, I finally saw a post from her saying she had openings next month so I inquired about finishing the tattoo. That's when she told me she would not honor the previous price. Instead of $50 for the second session it was now going to be by the hour ($100) and be around $150-250 to complete). In addition, when going to look back at her time-line, I learned she completed the same design for another person & talking as if she never got a chance to do it before.. I have asked others who have been in the industry and they have confirmed that this isn't usually how things go and to find a trustworthy person, as it is my body. The thing is, I am autistic, this was not a secret by any means. This was also my first real tattoo. I'm 34 and it took me this long to feel comfortable enough for someone to do anything on me. In addition, i am only doing half my body (a gemini kind of thing. Clean and creative sides, which i also explained that day). My interactions with Alex upon learning these changes were extremely ableist and fully of gaslighting. She was talking to me about how tattoos are a luxury and placing the blame entirely on me. I don't appreciate this. Are disabled people not allowed to get tattoos because its harder to find employment? This has really been traumatic for me for the last few days to know my body has this unfinished large piece that has so much contention around it when I just wanted what was promised to me the second time around. I cannot in good faith recommend this artist to anyone because of this situation. It scares me to have gone through these changes, the blame, etc. It's fine if this is normal for others, I just needed to be honest about what I experienced incase it helps others make an informed choice about what to do with their body. read more

What a wonderful shop! My first (and second!)tattoo turned out amazing! The shop is organized, clean and inviting, with friendly folks and amazing artists! The quote I got is in my own handwriting, and it still trips me up a bit how well he replicated it! (He must have signed for a lot of school notes back in the day ) I only had a vague idea about the design for my shoulder, so I made a feeble attempt at drawing it myself. I can't really draw that well lol... Matt made it look amazing nonetheless! His attention to detail, patience with sizing and positioning made me at ease. I was first drawn in to Jess's work by her amazing color work and attention to detail. I had an idea for my first large tattoo and had been searching for quite awhile to find someone who could do it just right. I was blown away how she took my scribbles and made it into a masterpiece! Really enjoyed this place, i think his name was Gregg who did my tattoo he had a beard and a black beanie on lol! But he took me in as a walk in, i already had a font in mind but he wrote up like 10 different fonts and let me pick one which i really appreciate. I let him know where i want it and how i wanted it to fit and he did perfect. It's fairly small so i also appreciate his line work. I was here on Friday to get my half sleeve done by Jessie! She is amazing, a hands down great artist, and has an amazing skill set when it comes to making your tattoo what you want it to be. I had been contemplating getting a half sleeve for a while and gave Jessie the key points of what I wanted in the tattoo. I am a rambler when it comes to ideas and she was able to take everything I wanted and make it more amazing that I would have thought! She took the time to make sure everything was down where I wanted it to be and made sure I liked where it was positioned. Then onto the line work of it all. She spent 5 hrs working on my line work, and layering more pieces onto it. During this time, conversation was easy and fun. She made me feel super comfortable the entire time, and whenever she needed my arm in a different position she made sure that I was comfortable first before she started again. I truly feel she is a major asset to this industry, her artistic talent is amazing! She is one of very few artists I've seen who cares about the quality of work she puts out there,and has a true love for her craft! During this time I also got to chat with the owner of the shop, Mitch, and he was a cool dude! I've already gotten a ton of compliments, and have handed out almost all her cards she gave me!
