I've come here a few times for various piercings, and always see John. They have all healed perfectly and were pretty easy to heal. Even the cartilage ones! John is informative and great to work with, and has corrected previous piercings for me as well. I've had friends come here too and even my super sensitive pals piercings healed great. I had a similar experience to most people - my piercer, John, has comically bad customer service. I have was rushed to decide my piercing placement of two helix's, all while being belittled for "poor" placement of a helix on my other ear. When I asked what they did wrong out of curiosity, he berated me for not seeing that "it has to be perpendicular - see this? is this perpendicular? no. it's not perpendicular." You do not speak to customers like that! I wanted to cancel my appointment, but felt intimidated and went through with it. 2 stars because technically they provided the correct service. It is now a few days later, and both of my piercings that he did have been bleeding profusely - I made sure not to sleep on them and have not touched them. I had a good experience, over all positive, the information received was very straightforward for aftercare and overall important questions I had were addressed and answered. I came in already kinda knowing where I wanted to be at with a lip ring but they helped me guide me to a decision that made sense, they were pretty good at reading the situation and I had no issues like the other recent reviewers had. The piercing itself was pretty quick and easy, my piercer was very friendly and liked to travel. He has been in the industry for a while - he also gave me multiple options on placement with suggestions for future plans in mind such as switching up gauge sizes. I felt this was a good suggestion preventing discomfort or tearing like shoving 14g in 16g holes allowing a wider variety of jewelry to own later in comfort. Thanks! read more

Really unfortunate experience. Unfortunately, on my way to my appointment and I had a seizure in the street that made a bit of a scene. For anyone wondering, seizures are stressful, embarrassing and not much fun! And they're not exactly in the customers control! I called to reschedule, and still lost my deposit. What a cap to a stressful day. I offered to provide medical documentation of the event and the receptionist said it didn't matter. 'That's kind of what deposits are for!' Ouch. Not at my own workplace they're not... what a startling lack of empathy and customer care. After I had problems because the stud they told me was the right size was too small, I went back to the shop only to be condescended to and verbally abused as if this was my mistake. I'm not the professional piercers, they are. I went to this shop because they were close and I thought that they were competent. While they are close by, they are neither competent nor professional. Great experience at this shop! My piercer, Anthony, and other staff were very professional and went above and beyond local COVID safety rules. I got a nostril piercing opposite one I've had for years and Anthony was meticulous in placing it symmetrically, and even spent time with me beyond my appointment time making sure it was done properly. The staff went over aftercare with me in great detail, and they carry a saline spray product that has been SO much easier to use than the salt water soak advice I've gotten at other places. This is easily the most painless and least gross healing process I've had for a cartilage piercing. "Least gross" goes a long way in my opinion of a piercing shop. Piercings are a body modification and it is so, so worth it to invest in one done well. I'll be back for my next one! read more

The piercer is very knowledgeable. He makes sure everything is clean and sterile. They do still have covid restrictions like you have to be vaxxed, limited amounts of people, and you have to wear a mask. Other than that it went well. I noticed that the piercing wasn't centered and double checked with him but he said it was fine and didn't move the position. John was extremely rude from the jump he has no customer service AT ALL! I called over the phone and asked if they had snake bite jewelry and he said yes. When I got there he told me he doesn't know if he has the piercing and that they don't do " snake bites" at all cause that's the most dangerous type of piercing ( okay I get that) , But his body language and tone was very disrespectful. He wasn't helpful at all and Jessica seen how he was talking to me and she took over the conversation and helped me. The piercing here was great. Jewelry and piercing were a little expensive but considering everything went so well I'd say that aspect was worth it. They routinely close whenever they want though whether it's 10/20/30 minutes early or 2 hours early. I had a septum done with Cory Simpson during the covid 19 pandemic. He did an absolute great job. Was super friendly and informative about what to expect, what myths to let go of. (ie: you can't flip up the jewelry as it heals.) he remained sterile the entire time we were in the piercing room. It sucks everything they have to do because of covid. The face shield makes it really hard to see but he did a great job. It took a little longer to do but it wasn't more painful or anything like that. Just a small inconvenience he seemed to be able to adjust to with grace. Cory was super kind, very clear about the process and expectations of me as far as covid. I understood of course that the post could not be returned, but I did not think I would be asked to pay another full $20 for a new post. They cost literally cents to produce. Was patronizing and condescending the entire time. Had been hoping to give my patronage to a local shop in my new area but will never be going back Edit: and upon getting home again, I notice that the post they sold me is 18G after I had specifically asked for 20G! 5 stars from start to finish. Professional, clean, knowledgeable and efficient. They are doing an impeccable job with their covid/overall safety. I'm in the healthcare field and am hyper-vigilant of safety/sanitation protocols. John was extremely safe and careful for the duration of my visit. He changed gloves multiple times as to prevent cross contamination in the piercing room and was deliberate when performing the piercing. He was caring throughout and was patient while explaining the process and answering my questions prior to the piercing. Not to mention he's a super cool guy and fun to talk to! Horrible place. I had the worst experience and am shocked to see that this seems to be a running theme on how they treat their customers. I came in on a Thursday to get a bar shortened for my Ashley piercing, which I got 4 or 5 months ago at a different shop. When I originally got the piercing, it was recommended to wait at least 2 months before shortening the bar. I know this particular piercing isn't as popular, so I googled specifically "Ashley piercings" this shop came up and so I called ahead to make sure they're familiar with it and will be able to help me. They said yes of course and I made the appointment no problem. When I came in they asked how long it's been healing for, looked at it and okayed the bar change. However, after the man changed the bar I noticed that it was visibly digging into my lip. It wasn't hurting me, but it didn't look normal. I've had at least 25 piercings over the years and minimal problems with aftercare so I spoke up and asked what the piercer thought. He told me "well you have pouty lips so it's naturally going to look like that. If it hurts you in a few days come in and we will fix it for you." (Um, if I have pouty lips does that not mean I just need a bigger size than someone who does not? I mean I'm certainly not an expert but more tissue is more tissue correct?) whatever, I say okay and go home. By Saturday my lip is on fire however I physically can not go in the shop until Sunday around 2pm because of work and other commitments. This is where I meet the most lovely piercer- (manager, owner? Something because he kept saying "my employees") John. John has beef with the Ashley piercing and he let me know it. I go in and explain what happened Thursday, fully expecting them to take some accountability for not sizing my bar correctly even after I pointed out the mistake almost immediately. Instead, John went on a condescending tangent about how no piercing is healed until at least 9 months and they shouldn't be getting shortened and he guarantees this is the problem before he even looks at it. I hold my tongue because regardless of my opinion of this man so far, I really needed his help because I was in physical pain and the back of the piercing inside my mouth was almost being completely swallowed by my lip. That's when I take off my mask and he realizes I didn't say "nostril" piercing, I said Ashley. He goes off. Basically telling me that he doesn't know why anyone ever gets this done, that it's a terrible piercing and he wouldn't have touched this and wouldn't have let any of his employees do this type of piercing. He tells me he doesn't know what he wants me to do because he doesn't deal with this piercing and the only thing he advises is that I remove it. He brings me out 2 different sized bars and refuses to advise me which size may have been the initial size I got pierced with. (He's acting like there's no record, like he can't go look up in the system what size was currently in my lip, or any information on the jewelry taken out even though I heard this all discussed on Thursday.) basically he didn't want to help me and did the least he could while also being extremely rude, and again, condescending. He really acted like not every single piercer, has different opinions and different instructions and that hjs was the only correct source. That's just honestly laughable. So now, I'm sitting here Monday reading the reviews seething because these people are kind of the worst it seems! My experience here? I came in, paid money to have them ruin my originally perfectly healed piercing. Go back in days later in pain, get berated by big ol jerk John and end up with a bar that's either the same size as I started with, or a bar that's still slightly too big. And the worst part? I HOPE that my mouth is going to heal this hole that got dug into my lip by a flat back, otherwise, I just paid them to ruin my favorite piercing. I had an absolutely amazing experience visiting Evolve. I'm so glad I went, I was visiting Seattle and wanted to take get a piercing to remind me of my awesome time there. I will say, I was super nervous and almost didn't go that day. I'm glad I did. The lady up front was super helpful and knowledgeable about piercing jewelry. I was thinking of a conch ring, but she swayed me towards a cool looking cluster stud for healing purposes. I knew better and I know conch rings aren't encouraged for the first time, because the constant movement would irritate the piercing. Even though it wasn't what I wanted, I knew I was in a good place, because she was concerned about infection, healing times, and possibility of rejection over sheer aesthetics of jewelry. Cory pierced my ear that day. I was honestly shocked at how painless it was. I've had a lobe and a tragus piercing that were even more painful than that. I heard a conch was up there in pain level, because it is the thickest part of the ear, according to Cory that didnt matter because of nerve endings. It was fast and painless. I spent some time meditating before the session, that may have played a big part to it. Coming to the studio made me come to terms with some strange feelings about my culture and heritage. The studio had some pretty heavy vibes of Southeast Asian piercing culture, or just let's just shove nails and other sharp things into our hands and cheeks for I have no clue. Perhaps spiritual purposes? I never really understood it, and it just freaked the hell out of me growing up. I guess it was something, I didn't fully understand or want to understand, because it was really weird seeing it as a child. Seeing some dude stab himself in the stomach claiming he has supernatural powers. It's a bit graphic if you aren't expecting it. I guess in the end, I'm just happy there are other people out there that are at least trying to understand it. Great place not only for piercings but for jewelry. They have a huge selection for any piercing you can think of. Some of the designs they even make themselves, which is pretty cool. In the cases along the wall you can find some standard gauge earrings in the most fantastic patterns. Cool geometrics, sunbursts, just really original statement earrings. I would highly recommend checking them out. Also, went in for a new nose ring and they fixed me right up. Took out my lip ring for good (RIP little buddy) and they could not have been nicer about the whole thing. Side note, I went in a year or so ago when my lip ring was crazy infected (my own dumb fault) and I don't remember who helped me but he was also very nice, very gentle on my grossly swollen lip. After having to have my piercing removed due to poor placement, I cannot recommend anyone go here. My piercing was done by Cory? (whichever one wears the grill?) and a few months after, when it did not seem to be healing progressively, I revisited to shop to have it looked at. I was then literally gaslit and scolded for my aftercare. I couldn't believe they'd spoken to me the way they did. I thankfully decided to get opinions from two other piercers at different shops, and they BOTH confirmed that it was not my fault. The piercing was done and placed incorrectly. As a result I've had to remove the piercing and hope that I don't have permanent scarring. Terrible experience. There are better places to go to in the area who won't gaslight you for their mistakes. 10/10 do not recommend. read more

A spontaneous girls weekend meant that me and two of my best friends were looking for things to do on a rainy Seattle Saturday, and decided that we would get piercings! We called around and Evolve came highly recommended. So we drove from West Seattle to Capitol Hill for an adventure! Parking in Capitol Hill is never great, but there's pay lots nearby the shop. We walked a block or so and there we were! The shop was clean, bright and a great atmosphere. Luckily there were only 4-5 of us in the shop and the sweet woman behind the counter started helping us right away! Soon enough we had the whole staff helping the three of us pick out jewelry, doing paperwork, and talking us through the process. So helpful and professional even though we asked a million questions! I have a few piercings, and decided to get a my Tragus and Rook pierced. One of my friends got a helix for her first piercing. Another got her forward helix! The owner (whose name I forgot, so sorry!) was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. He took us all back to the room together and was so friendly and interesting. He made everything easy and fun, and told us some amazing stories about his travels! From our newbie's first piercing, to me half jumping off the table during my Tragus piercing (ouch), to advising my friend on some of her issues with existing piercings, it was a great experience, and we all had a blast. I made an appointment at Evolve hoping to get my right nostril pierced. Jessica asked if they were the ones who pierced my left nostril, and I told them no, that I'd had it done 8 years ago, before I lived in the area. John became immediately apparently aggravated upon hearing that I'd had my first nose piercing done in another shop. He took me to the back to look at my already pierced nostril, and the second my mask was down began ranting about all that was wrong with it. I would have appreciated if John had been at all able to communicate in an explanatory way how different my piercings might look, were he to go through with piercing the other side. However, he was only able to rant at me in a condescending manner, bobbing his head and body up and down as he interrupted any questions I attempted to ask just to repeat something he'd already said. When we went back to the front, he repeated this behavior, interrupting Jessica, when I attempted to ask for her perspective on the same questions. I was extremely rushed to make a decision, and because of John's short-temper, I decided not to get anything done at all. Had the environment not been so aggressively hostile, I probably would have just got a different piercing. I let them know the reason I would not be getting a piercing today had nothing to do with the placement, and was only because of how anxiety-inducing and uncomfortable the 7 minutes I'd spent there had already been made to be. John has pierced me before at another location, (and did a phenomenal job) so I trusted that Evolve was the place to go. John didn't help me this time and I'm kicking myself that I forgot the name of the fellow that pierced me the other day, but my appointment went incredibly well and I'm so happy with the outcome. What I loved most was how thorough and kind he was while preparing and guiding me through the process. John gave me double nose ring piercings, and while measuring he explained that he was taking into account that although he was putting in a large size ring to prepare for swelling, he was keeping in mind that I said my plans are to go down in size so that the rings rest against my skin once fully healed. I really appreciated his consideration of my future plans, he showed me all of the cleaning processes and the shop and piercing room were clean and pleasing to the eye. The next day I took my partner to the shop to get his ears gauged and again they provided amazing service. This store only installs their own body jewelry, and it is expensive, at least $100, but the gold is probably at least $300.
