I purchased 3 pieces of jewellery from Evolve - although it was very expensive, I thought I'd support a local business rather than shopping online. 1 of the pieces has broken less than a year later. The shop has informed me that they will not replace it because it was not a high-quality USA-made piece of jewellery. What..? I certainly paid enough that I'd expect a moderately reasonable level of quality. So : shop here if you want the worst of both worlds -- low-quality import jewellery that you could buy at a quarter of the same price online, but sold to you at top-dollar boutique-store prices, and without any customer service to back it up. read more

Got a double lobe piercing with Anthony, he was awesome and has such a gentle hand. I didn't even feel when my ears were pierced! He had a very calm demeanor and is genuine and honest about recommendations and feedback when asked. He is thorough in explaining everything he is doing during the process. Aftercare talk was a bit quick and I had to ask some questions that weren't covered but the most important info (cleaning) was discussed. (Read before going to Evolve) This past weekend I was visiting my brother in Seattle. My last day there I decided to do something spontaneous, to go get a piercing. I have my regular piercer I always go to in SF (where I live) and was hesitant to stray elsewhere, but I trusted in Yelp reviews and decided on Evolve. Initially when visiting Evolve my fears or hesitations diminished. It looked clean, big, pretty awesome shop. Jon and the woman at the front (forgot her name) were nice and helpful. I thought to myself, see why were you worried? I decided on getting my front helix pierced, I chose a gold stud. I went to the back with my boyfriend and got prepped. All the while thinking (this is awesome!). I took a deep breath in and out.....I felt really sever pain, followed by some fumbling it felt by Jon and more pain. I thought to myself, huh wasn't expecting that much pain (I've had my daith, belly button, nose, helix, and tragus pierced). Jon began to get more and more gauze. I looked at my bf and he just looked shocked, apparently I was a "bleeder" although I had never bled with any other piercing of mine. After about 5 minutes of constant gauze rotations Jon said I could sit up and look @ the stud. I went to the mirror hoping it would all be worth it, when I noticed something odd. The piercing seemed crooked as if it was being tugged backward toward the piercing hole and not laying flat on my ear. I asked why this was, Jon replied something of the sorts of "yea thats just how it is". I left and assumed I was crazy and to trust in the experienced piercer. I flew home the next day. The following days were disastrous. My ear continued to swell and my piercing was being pulled back into the piercing hole itself. My whole side of my face hurt, my ear hurt, this was not normal piercing pain. So yesterday I decided to go to my normal piercer in SF so I could be assured this was normal. When she saw the piercing she was so upset. She said Jon had pierced way to close to my head, not on the correct ear spot, he used way to small of jewelry and it looks like when he was piercing the jewelry and the needle lost connection and he fumbled causing all my bleeding. My piercer was so frustrated, she knows Jon and mentioned he should "know better" as he has been in the industry for so long. My piercing had to be removed. She could barely get her tools around it to pull it out. She sanitized the stud and thankfully placed it in my tragus piercing so at least the 80$ I spent on the jewelry wouldn't go to waste. She took a few pictures with the dot placement of where the piercing SHOULD have been. I will attach to this posting. Long story short...I am not mad more disheartened. When you trust in professionals you trust that they will do their job correctly and take care of you. I was not. I do believe Jon knew he incorrectly pierced my ear (because of all his experience) but I think he didn't care because he knew I was visiting and leaving the next day and would not be near the shop to come back in. Pure negligence. Hopefully this does not happen to someone in the future. I highly recommend if something seems wrong, speak up. You can't trust that someone else will. read more

I have gotten three piercings here in the last year. Each time appointments were made online through their super confusing website (bad user interface) to pay ahead of time for the piercings- jewlery bought in store however. The piercings were done fine each time, albeit a bit long. Jewlery section is small and expensive, besides a few cheap standard pieces. The frustrating part was each time I was rung up at the end for the full price, ignoring that I had paid ahead online, despite me saying that at the time of purchase. The person servicing just said "oh I didn't look for that" which could have caused me to pay double! I thought this was bad customer service and frustrating. I have also been to Laughing Buddha down the street and will keep my service there instead of here. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I make an appointment to get my piercing fixed which at all other shops I've been to is free but here costs $10. They wouldn't even make an appointment over the phone. So I get to the shop and the window says "face masks required" which doesn't say anywhere in the appointment you buy and already pay for online. Oh but you can buy a face mask for $1. So I try to cancel it but they say it's nonrefundable which also doesn't say when you make an appointment. This experience along with my friend who's gone there before with all terrible experiences makes it a terrible place to go to. Great place not only for piercings but for jewelry. They have a huge selection for any piercing you can think of. Some of the designs they even make themselves, which is pretty cool. In the cases along the wall you can find some standard gauge earrings in the most fantastic patterns. Cool geometrics, sunbursts, just really original statement earrings. I would highly recommend checking them out. Also, went in for a new nose ring and they fixed me right up. Took out my lip ring for good (RIP little buddy) and they could not have been nicer about the whole thing. Side note, I went in a year or so ago when my lip ring was crazy infected (my own dumb fault) and I don't remember who helped me but he was also very nice, very gentle on my grossly swollen lip. Don't go here if you hope to be able to switch easily between nose studs and rings. Not only was I told I had to choose one or the other placement wise but I wasn't given a choice to have it pierced in the spot I wanted my piercing at where it had been pierced before and now I'm looking at having to take my stud out, close the piercing and have it redone somewhere else again. And on top of that I was charged far more then I was expecting in the first place as the clerk didn't tell me my jewelry I picked out was $200 until after it was in my nose. In my opinion that's something that should be discussed before the jewelry is even removed from the case and sanitized. Didn't like the attitudes of "I know best and you know nothing." Find a more humble piercer who takes your thoughts into consideration. read more

I have only been here once but the one visit was just enough for me to write a review for this place. I absolutely loved it. They took me as a walk in and i wanted to get my rook pierced. not only did the woman who was taking care of the front was kind, she also helped me choose what kind of jewelry would be best to wear. The environment of the whole shop is so awesome. the waiting/sitting area had nice things to read as well as super cool artwork. I unfortunately don't remember the names of the staff except the piercer i had that day, i think his name was Cory? he made me feel very comfortable and welcomed to be there. they even have this strip that they have you initial so that both you and your piercer knows that your jewelry was been clean/sterilized correctly! i was mind blown bc i've never seen that in my life!! i think in a few months will be a year mark that i've had the rook done here, to this day it's still looking great and i still have the same jewelry in from when i first got it pierced, fits perfectly. seriously i would recommend this place to anyone who would like piercings done. i'm planning to come here from now on if i'm in the area again and feel spontaneous. ;-) (ps: not sure about all of the jewelry but the one i got has a lifetime warranty!! so cool!!) read more

I was so impressed by this place! After a few of my friends had awful experiences at other places in the Seattle area regarding aftercare, I chose this place based off the yelp review. I was extremely pleased with my experience and the expertise both John and the other person had. They guaranteed that it was sanitary and that I would have a good time. The only other time I had a piercing was when I went to Claire's when I was 10, so it is a huge testament that they made me feel so at ease and completely explained everything that they did and had very sound reasoning as to why they did specific things. It only hurt slightly and all in all, I would go back for any other piercing. It cost me around $100 including tip and the briotech spray, which seemed like a pretty legit source of aftercare. I am happy with the results and love the atmosphere and would recommend to all my friends! Loved John! read more

I got a navel piercing almost a year ago and it has been infected for months now. I've had a few piercings from other places before so i know how to take care of them. All i can say is the jewelry definitely not a great quality. I couldn't changed it because its still healing + irritated and at the same time i need the infection to be gone before i can get a better quality jewelry. I also bought their piercing bumps spray. I did not notice that the cap was broken and the bottle looks like an old one that has been stored for a long time. Very disappointed! read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. I have always had super sensitive ears, which is why I decided on getting gauges, so that I could avoid any metals. Well, I was stupid and put in some acrylics, and my ears reacted super bad. Like my ears were easily 4X bigger then they should have been, and were oozy and just horrible. I was soaking them in sea salt and cleaning them and they just weren't getting better. So I decided to go buy some high quality glass to put in, to see if that would help. Every shop I went too just told me I was fucked, and that I just needed to let the holes close up, but of course I could come back and have them just re-pierce them.. I didn't want to lose my piercing, so I kept looking for a place to sell me some glass plugs or something. Well I lucked out. When I came in and explained what happened, the staff was super helpful. They measured how swollen my ear was, and then dug through a bunch of different plugs to find one long enough to help me. Then they took me back, and sanitized the new plugs, and cleaned my ears up with a surgical cleanser or something. Then they put them in for me, and gave me extra O rings in case I lost some. They also told me all about what kinds of materials would be best if my ears are really sensitive, and told me to come back when my ears are better and they would help me get a pair that I liked. It has been 1 day since I went there, and my ears are just about normal sized again, and I'm no longer in pain! They shop was well lit, clean and organized. The staff was very knowledgeable, and they saved my ears when everyone else told me I was screwed. The price was also super reasonable! Basically this place is amazing. 10/10 would recomend! I will 100% be back in a few weeks when I'm healed up to buy some cool jewelery! read more

Please don't tell me not to touch my own piercing in your shop. I can do whatever I please with a 2 year old piercing I already have while inquiring about possible new jewelry. I instinctually started to reach my hand toward my septum as I inquired about new jewelry and was told twice not to touch it. I'm pretty lost as to why you care. The bead on my septum gets shifted up into my nose in my sleep on a pretty regular basis and I casually bring it back out to the center whenever this happens. I understand the desire to be hygienic, but Jesus, calm down. I'm doin' just fine. In my least responsible days I literally puked so hard it came out my nose and my septum smelled like barf for 2 weeks. Surprise! I came out just fine! It's great to advocate for responsible piercing protocol but please don't ever tell me how and when I'm supposed to engage with my own face. Chill out. read more

Had my second piercing here mid July and it was the exact opposite experience. Upon arrival I walked up to find the shop locked and the piercer hanging out next door smoking out front. Classy. I was instructed to use hand sanitizer and obviously wear my mask and apply disposable gloves. Awesome! I was immediately pressure into getting pierced quickly... he seemed was past annoyed at the fact I got there about 10 min early to have time to pick out jewelry and ask questions. After choosing my jewelry he put it in the sterilizer and failed to show me the packet once it had been cleaned. After I came home and cared for it just like all my other piercings. Except this one didn't want to heal. I called to ask about it and he said he doesn't remember what he did on me? Like you filled out a form and had me sign a consent what exactly are you doing with that document bird brain! Long story short this dude put too small of a post in my cartilage and my skin grew over it! I had to get an antibiotic and I ended up going back to laughing Buddha!! We came in -on a 'right as rain' recommendation from a neighboring shopgirl - looking for simple jewelry but walked out having received some of the friendliest and most thorough customer service ever. The owner himself helped us find some captive bead rings and beJEEZus did they have a selection! And soooo helpful! I'm fairly comfortable in piercing/tattoo shops- despite my own no ink or protruding metal status-but even if you're timid to step in, don't worry for a moment. This shop and it's staff are spanking clean, professional and did I mention SO FRIENDLY! You won't get an attitude unless you bring your own, and even then, I'm guessing they'll nice you out of yours. We didn't even ask but they offered to put the rings in and BAM! We were done so quickly, it was amazing. Prices were reasonable, again selection fantastic, and it was a perfect experience from start to finish. I'd tell anyone who will listen, if you want to get pierced or need some jewelry, this is THE spot. read more

HORROR STORY I went in around March 12th to have my labia pierced. It was done by John Durante (the owner). Not only did he fail to mention that a captive ring would be far less comfortable than a barbell for a new labia piercing but he didn't put the ring on tight enough. Ten days later the piercing hurt more than on the first day (I had been trying to tough it out, soaking it etc) so I went back in. John wasn't there but a temporary piercer, Jinx, was. Jinx informed me that the bead had fallen out of the captive ring and the gap had twisted to be inside my body which is why it was hurting so much. I had to buy another piece of jewelry (a small barbell) that wouldn't have been necessary if I had received sound advice the first time and have it replace the captive ring at great discomfort and some pain. The hole had to be stretched out for the new smaller gauge barbell... Every thing settled down after that but things still weren't healing right. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Last Friday, April 12th , I finally broke down and took out the barbell to get to the bottom of why it was so uncomfortable despite the care I was taking and I found the lost bead had been in my body the whole time. At that point flesh had grown over it to seal it in me. Pure fucking negligence. I was shaking I was so upset, this is my first and last experience with genital piercings and Evolve. When Jinx was putting in the barbell he had to stretch the hole because, he said, it had grown smaller. Now I know the real reason he had to stretch it back out is because the bead was still in there! WTF!!! When I called Evolve the person who answered the phone wouldn't give me the owner's number and refused to call him with my number so he could call me. I was asked to come in to see the other temporary piercer who doesn't even do genital piercings. Why would I trust someone from Evolve a third time, especially someone from Evolve who doesn't even work on that part of the body? I was told things like this happen often... read more

Top notch! In the past I've gone to shops to talk about a piercing and they've seemed uninterested. As if because I'm not into body mods and the like, they won't take me seriously. I did not feel like that at all here. What I wanted, how it could change over time, what my piecing options would be on the future, and placement were all talked about at length. After losing several balls and bits to jewelry from other shops I popped in here to grab a spare part. Everyone was extremely helpful and their knowledge was apparent from the moment I walked in. It was so refreshing to be educated on what I was purchasing and why certain pieces work better than others. Unfortunately, they didn't have what I needed but that's because what I was buying elsewhere wasn't meant to hold up. Not only were they incredibly welcoming and helpful but they placed my ring for me as well. Where do I even start? The owners have been beyond amazing to work with. Jess is the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet and Jon has the Midas touch with impeccable bedside manner. My nose absolutely hates piercings. I have always wanted to rock the single nostril piercing on each side and whenever I have tried doing so, one piercing will always refuse to heal properly. After dealing with piercing one nostril at least twice (by other studios) I asked Evolve what I should do. The saying rings true: Third time is the charm. My concern was scar tissue. This usually makes it more painful to get redone. I put aside my fears and let Jon work his magick. I did not feel a thing when the needle went through! A titanium stud with a tiny opal was used and it is beautiful. I had no problems healing the piercing done by Evolve...well a month or so goes by and I start to get the dreaded bump on my other nostril piercing (not done by Evolve). I head back to Evolve and Jess suggests we just upgrade to a matching titanium stud with another opal on it. I also received some great after care tips and everything healed up beautifully! Since I had such a positive experience I have returned numerous times. My septum was done by Jon and it has healed up just fine with no complications. Titanium has been the best option for my nose piercings to heal properly. Another thing that Evolve has helped me out with was assisting the process of getting my ears to stretch to my desired size. I have been stuck at 5/8" for a few years and was scared I would rip one of my lobes because it was getting thin. After listening to the advice from Jess and Jon I can proudly say I am now at my goal size of 1" with no fears of lobe damage. I haven't had piercings done by any of the other guys at the shop, but I have had them swap out my nose studs with out any issues. Piercings aside: Evolve has an unbelievably insane amount of jewelry to pick from. I love hearing the stories of where the stones they get come from. This stuff isn't all just shipped in- the owners travel the world hand picking specimens (clothing, scarves etc) to share with customers. This piercing studio is done right. I have always been told by the professionals over 15years ago that if I want a piercing done right you have to go to a shop that only deals with piercings. Don't waste your time going to those hybrid tattoo/piercing shops. read more
