Everyone here is very friendly. Sheilagh, in particular, has been the best -- she has helped us through many difficult situations over the years. We've been loyal customers for more than 10 years now. The only issue is that they don't work on Saturdays, which creates a challenge for us since we run projects seven days a week. These people are bad news. The good news is they had the part that I needed. The bad news is that they tried to charge me double the price for the same thing at Lowe's or home Depot. The problem was those retailers were out of stock. So I ended up ordering online. If I were a contractor, I would double-check their prices because there's a good chance they even rip off contractors. Wow. Great service. I walked in and immediately thought I was in the wrong place since it was an office setting and that I was looking for A/C part. Anyway, the front desk receptionist greeted me and directed me where I should go. I was then assisted by a nice gentleman who got me exactly the part I wanted. Before you starting looking to swing by and pick up A/C parts, they normally don't sell to anyone other than contractors, but, since I was just picking-up a A/C pad for a mini split (which is basically just a piece of plastic), they sold it to me. This place has very knowledgeable staff and great prices. Big box stores such as Home Depot don't carry many things in stock any more. Sellers on Amazon are asking for 2-3x the prices here. I was able to get the part I need from Slakey Brothers without waiting for delivery and for a much lower price. read more

Was referred to this place by the garden gopher to get some 10' ducting as they didn't have what I needed st Home Depot. Got here at 4:28 after driving from 30 min away. The guy in the shop refused to sell me the parts I needed because they closed at 4:30. I pointed out it was 4:28 and he said actually they registers at 4:15. Now I'm headed back empty handed with workers waiting fir the parts. I'm going to order the parts on Amazon which is sad. I tried to support a local shop first. Not coming back here. read more

The part that a previous supply store gave me was broken and since I had taken the last one I needed to find a new supply store. In comes Slakey Brothers. Most supply stores (like the one I had visited that morning) do not allow normal people in their store, most cater only to contractors. Slakey Brothers will sell parts to normal people. So in I go, with my broken water heater part and my dog, and pick up my part. The entire office lit up when they saw my Golden Retriever. You know that a person is good if they like dogs (and if they dog likes them back). My dog was in heaven weaving through all the cubes and demanding affection from everyone as I filled out warranty paperwork. It was a good experience coming here. read more

As a regular customer for Slakey Brothers San Jose, I have always and consistently found that both their customer service over the phone and in person has been very easy to do business with. The manager (Ken Varnes) also sends us emails (as a regular customer of theirs) in regards to upcoming price increases due to the tariffs and an ETA for the effective date. As of late these notifications from the manufacturer are quite often and it is important to note that it isn't easy to notify customers that prices are going up and perhaps that is why their competition rarely sends out these notices, but just surprises us with a higher invoice. This notification give us and our customers a heads up of any pending increases so we can take advantage of the pre-tariff pricing. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff! Luis spent a lot of time helping me find the right solution to my odd sized return air filter grill. First he put one of the standard products in will call for me to look at and measure because there was some mention that it might be undersized in the manufacture's literature. He also put me in touch with the manufacturer to start the process of submitting a quote for a custom size. It turned out that the standard product was not undersized and Luis helped me with the request for a custom size. Poor warranty on items. Bought a wall furnace ,it had defective burner. Made me buy a new one said it will be covered and I will get money back but after one month and a week NOTHING. I do not recommend this business!!!!!! read more

I'm a HVAC contractor and this supply house has everything you need. However, the customer service and wait time to receive any item is ridiculous. It's about a 30 min wait time minimum, even if you call in your order hours ahead and tell them exactly what time you'll be picking it up. After placing the order over the phone they'll say, "it'll be out there waiting for you when you get here". I've been coming here for a while now and they have not done that once the whole time here. If you are in the HVAC or plumbing trade you probably already know about them. If you are a new purchasing agent or tech and trying to locate a parts house, try them. The stock most of what you will need for duct jobs and carry Bryant, Payne, Daikin, Comfort Star and I think Reznor products, all on a regular basis. I deal primarily with Sean or Matt, and they both take the time to answer my questions, including the stupid ones. I'm not sure if this review will be read given they don't cater to the public that often but it should be written either way. Good parts house, good staff, friendly environment. read more

Slakey is now my favorite supply store for parts and tools I need for repairs. I'm a home owner and those plumbing issues could be very frustrating. The staff there are all very knowledgable and helpful every time I go there. They would spend time to answer all my dumb questions and try to demonstrate and help as much as they can plus their price is very competitive which would beat most of the chain stores (Home Depot, Lowe's, Orchard Supply, etc.) by like 20% or so. read more
