I did going expecting it would have a better selection of lumber at better prices than Home Depot. Unfortunately, that was not the case. They had a lot of wood suitable for construction but not for woodworking. They really had only one type of plywood with any kind of nice surface. Mostly have OSB, CDX, and only one type with a sanded finish. And that was almost $10 more per sheet than what I could get at Home Depot. No Birch or other quality plywood ether. I did purchase about 4 sheets just to check them and then went to Home Depot and got the remaining 11 sheets I needed. It was less expensive and there was significantly more choice for plywood other than OSB, CDS, etc.

We brought a sample of our siding to match it and the person helping us assured us it was the same and so we purchased the 30 pieces we needed. We loaded and brought home the wood only to find it was not the same exact size. We called back to try to rectify the issue but the person we spoke with was not very helpful and told us that was the only size they had and we have to pay a restocking fee if we requested to return the materials purchased. Needless to say our hands were tied and our contractor had to spend extra time to modify the sidings.

He didn't give me any choices but sold me a semi finished piece of wood that was 3x the length I needed then had to pay $15 to have it cut down. The latter of which is important because even if the store is out, they can usually get it from their distribution center with a day or two, at worst. The Good: *App and website are both really good for shopping; the website,in particular, has some really wild search options. *Staff is always helpful and efficient *Much better selection of equipment and tools than the big box guys. *You can order straight from the app or website and pickup, or just show up and tell them what you're looking for, and they'll go to the back warehouse and retrieve it. Imagine that? Not having to wander around aimlessly, mouth wide, and actively looking for someone in an orange apron to help out. The Meh: *Only one location in the South Bay and only three on the entire Bay Area. This location is a little far for most, as it's in a random industrial neighborhood in far North San Jo. *The biggest difference btwn Grainger and the other hardware stores is no garden section and no lumber. The Ugly: *Hours kinda suck (M-F only, no weekends) compared to the more popular, consumer-oriented hardware stores. Edward went out to their sample fence area with me and showed me each item on that bill so I knew what I was purchasing.
