The overall experience here was great. While we waited for our table we when to the bar to have a drink. The girl in the band shirt was very personable and helpful for helping us find the beer flavor/texture of choice. She hit the recommendations spot on. The wait for our table was pretty accurate. When we got to our table , our server was pretty prompt. She didn't have much of a personality but she didn't skip a beat to take care of us. My only complaint is i ordered a side salad with ranch and Italian on the side and it came with ranch and Cesar. I was also up charged for the second dressing and didn't know that would happen. I was 3/4 done with my salad by the time I saw her so I never got the proper dressing. Overall the experience was great and food was delicious. The ambience was peaceful and clean, so were the bathrooms. If I'm back in the area I'd return.
Slackwater is a solid spot! I stop here frequently for work lunches, and the pizza and wings are always great. It's become a go to when I'm looking for a good lunch to take some people to. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
Great service quick seating with reservation. Unique style of pizza. A mix of different ingredients you normally don't see on pizzas. Like grapes, avocados, and many others. It was fun trying different combinations. Some didn't add much flavor and others took your mouth to flavor town as Guy would say. Quick service. Friendly service. Restaurant decor was rustic look. Okay for the dining room but the restroom had stickers and graffiti all over it so it made it look dirty like a bad gas station bathroom. Pizza was good and unique but only above average. Depends on if you're looking for crazy ingredients or pizza like you get in Italy. Over all good meal.
Went to dinner here on a Monday night with my friends. We only had a 15 minute wait for our table. It wasn't too loud in there which is nice. Has dim mood lighting, very cozy feel. The pizzas are amazing! I don't think I've had a bad one from there. We got the California Sunrise, a peach special one, grape Gorgonzola, and a buffalo chick sandwich. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. The waiters checked on us multiple times.
We had reservations here on a Thursday night before a show at Hale. They were very quick, so we didn't have to stress at all about timing. My one complaint is that we made our reservation for 6:15, but at 5:55, I received a text that my table was ready and would only be held for 10 minutes. That means our table would be given away if we didn't arrive 10 minutes BEFORE our reservation time. The pizza is fantastic. Which I kept saying to my party through bites of pizza. It is the crust that makes this pizza. It is a little sweet but not in a dessert way. It has the perfect chewy bite. I was impressed. I never eat pizza crust, not ever, but it was good enough that my dogs didn't get their usual crust treat. We tried 4 different pizzas and I would recommend any of them.
Slackwater is a lively, upbeat pizza restaurant with a great beer selection, great atmosphere and great food. My family stayed down the street at the HGI in Sandy for 5 nights for my son's soccer tournament and we visited Slackwater 3 times. Pro tip: join the waitlist on Yelp! Even during the week, the wait was 30+ mins each time. Food was great. We tried a lot of different pizzas - we got the Chicken Bro-Do, Hot Honey DP, Tikka Masala, Taco Camarones and Margherita. The airy artisan crust is the same on all pizzas and is delicious. I would recommend them all outside of the Camarones which felt a bit underwhelming as there was very little shrimp and flavor was flat. The Citrus Morita dry rub wings are incredible. We ordered these every night. The Morita chile sauce I would throw on everything. Super fresh and flavorful. It had the right amount of heat . The breadsticks are really good. Same bread that they use for the pizza and stuffed with a ton of cheese. Marinara sauce that comes with it is top notch. The Diablo sticks are spicy just to be spicy. The sauce isn't good. We switched to regular marinara. Would recommend staying away from these. Service is great. Everyone is very attentive. The staff definitely give off a chill energy but are focused, alert and friendly. This place is a must if you're in the area. Hope we can make it back someday.
Slackwater has to be my number one favorite pizza I have found in Utah so far. Nothing beats the fluffy, crispy, and cheesy calzones! The buffalo Chicken Sandwich is a close second though. I've never had a bad experience. Waiters are always kind. The only bummer is the wait. It's so good the place is always packed. Plan heading there earlier than when you want to actually eat. I love the live music at the Sandy location - such a vibe. Slackwater also has a fantastic beer menu where I fell in love with my favorite beer!
No 9 on the list of best restaurants in the USA according to Yelp! My local friend raves about it. It was packed when I went in to pick up my order...all very positive signs and the expectations were high. I got the monthly special pizza..."Spring Fling" which was great. The crust was a little sweet as well which was unique. The Caesar salad was not that good and a little listless. Service was very disappointing sadly. From the time I placed the order on the phone to when I picked up the food, the staff was curt and dour. Not sure if that's their shtick but it was not for me. They did not giver me napkins or a fork so had to go back and ask for it which I did...nicely. They gave it to me with zero words and with a grumpy look like I was bothering them. Maybe they think they don't need to be customer-focused, given how popular they are. Not a good sign if you ask me, hubris never ends well.
Always great food and ambience. Can get loud for those who are overstimulated by volume. Outdoor seating is a good alternative when weather permits. Usually a wait, even on weeknights, so plan accordingly. Service is typically as expected. Haven't had a bad experience.
Line waiting wasn't too bad especially when you can use Yelp to get in line ahead of time. Pizza--sweet fluffy bread crust. It's fun to try but not my ideal for a pizza. It had more of a bread feel to it than a crust and dominated the pizza rather than completing it. The crust edge was also very large in relationship to the toppings middle. Grape and Gorgeous flavor was delicious. The spin-art dip was thick cheese and surprisingly needed to be more dippable to enjoy. Limited artichoke flavor, mainly cheese Service was all over the place. We waited about 15 min for our check. Understand that it gets busy here but 15 min is quite excessive to wait.
We love coming to this place! My cousin from out out town stayed over and when they asked for pizza and wings, I knew this place would rock their world! They drove in pretty late so for the first time, we got ours to-go. I will say, in the pizza box the pizza did look way smaller compared to when we dine in. But we ordered our usual 2 tiki masala chickens ( it is the #1 pizza for a reason) the cardiac arrest , and the jala-berry seasonal wings. The pizzas make look small, but they are very filling. 2 men and 2 women and we still had a whole pizza left! The seasonal wings were so good! The poppyseed sauce on the wings was the cherry on top! I will say, I wish the wings were bigger or had more meat. Each wing had probably a finger full of chicken. But it was still delicious!!! Even as a Togo order they did not disappoint! I ordered during peak hours thinking it would take a while , but they had it all ready to go in 15 minutes which was impressive for a Friday night! If you love pizza and want to discover new flavors, slackwater should be your #1 choice!! If you love curry, the tiki masala should be your first choice! If that seems weird to you , just think of The bread of the pizza is almost like the naan bread .
I've been to this location a few times now, most recently after going to an aerial class with my Yelp fam. I first went to the location in Ogden before it moved down to Salt Lake County. I love the unique flavor combinations of pizzas. I also love that they have GF and vegan options as well. Our service this past Wednesday was great! We were seated pretty quickly, even on a somewhat busy evening. Our server was attentive and patient with us. He definitely took care of us that night. All of the pizzas we got were delicious! The wings at Slackwater were great too (my husband always gets wings if they're on the menu, and these did not disappoint)! They also carried Shades Brewing sours, which we were excited about. We did spend a few minutes outside, next to the fire pits, finishing off the night in more conversation on a cold night.
We recently had a meal here along with our entire volleyball team and their families. I was impressed at how they easily handled such a large party and was also impressed with their variety in food and drinks! Everyone found something to eat and they seemed great adapting to all kind of palates and allergies. I had the half soup and sandwich and a light beer. Would totally return to try other yummy sounding food on the menu.

This would have been 5 stars but we called ahead and was told that we didn't need a reservation as there was no wait. When we arrived 10 min later there was a 30-40 min wait. Beyond that we had a party of 7. The service was great and friendly. The food was good and worth the wait. read more

This place is tucked away in the mall parking lot but oh my gosh is it delicious! My husband had a couple beers off their GIGANTIC menu and really liked all of them. We split the Hulk pizza and it was amazing. The service is prompt and polite! Our server was great. The restaurant is spotless and has a great ambiance. Will definitely be coming back if I am around SLC again! read more

Great place for lunch or dinner! Recently went for lunch, and while it was super busy we got a table right away and the service was fast! I hadn't been to this location before, and it had been a while since I had slack water and I forgot just how good their pizza is. They might have my favorite pizza crust in Utah. If you're a beer person, be prepared to love their beer menu! They have such a good selection. Next time you're in charge of a work lunch outing or dinner with friends, slack water is a great place to suggest! read more

I have three words: BOMB VEGAN PIZZA. I absolutely appreciate any place having vegan options because it makes it easy to not have to find a full vegan restaurant. And so happy the vegan option wasn't just carrots and celery . I came with my coworkers and they all ordered non vegan food and they loved it!!! They know what they're doing. The whole restaurant is solid and our host was amazing. I would come back here again. read more

Slackwater is simply the best! The service is always attentive, the food is divine (it might be a bit slow to come out, but that's because the place is busy and the food is quality food), the Cokes are fizzy, and the ambience is welcoming and friendly. The live music on some nights is a special treat. I especially recommend their chicken dishes. They even got me hooked on their divine mimosas. We love Slackwater!! read more

Got a couple pizzas and some cheese bread on our way home from capitol reef national park. We got them to go so I can't say much about the restaurant but the pizza was superb! We got the southern comfort which was my personal favorite. So delicious and a great combo of sweet and savory. We also got (I believe it was called) the green goddess? Also great! And some cheesy bread. The cheesy bread was the best cheese bread I have ever had in my life. While picking the pizza up, it was packed and there was live music which seemed so fun. I would love to come back during my next trip to slc read more

Maybe it's just because I was starving when we ate here, but EVERYTHING about the pizza tasted delicious to me. The sauce, the toppings, the crust....Mmm! The crust is soft and has a honey taste to it. My husband and I each got a pizza and shared both. We ended up eating all but 2 slices (but like I said, we were super hungry!). We got the California sunrise and the Cardiac. Both were excellent and both were pizzas I would get again! It's such a vibe-y, fun, and hip atmosphere. The night we went there was live music. The only bummer is that we brought our 1 year old when he was hangry and cranky and were hoping they could bring out a piece of bread or fruit or something right away to tide him over, but everything they had took time to make. They ended up bringing some delicious homemade tortilla chips out, but chips are very choke-able and it wasn't my favorite choice. But overall, we loved it and definitely want to come back next time we are in the Sandy area! read more

I've been wanting to try Slackwater for awhile, and a group of us finally made it for an early dinner! They have an extensive beer menu between draft options and cans and a nice variety of ciders as well. I've been trying ciders lately and had to check out the chocolate raspberry from mountain west they had on tap. It was very good! Not too sweet and you definitely got the right notes. Others at the table were happy with their beer selections. For entrees, we all ordered different kinds of pizza and they were ALL good! I went with the hot honey dp and I was really happy with it. I'm honestly usually not a huge pizza fan but this one was soo good. I can't wait to come back and try some of the other options. Definitely recommend! read more

My husband, my dad and I come here every time we visit SLC. Great selection of beers and delicious pizza! Seriously the best pizza! It gets crowded because the place is popular but you can usually get in with a short wait. Comfortable environment, the bar area has TVs for sports. My favorites - California Sunrise (light & delicious, the sauce is amazing) & Tikka Masala (if you like Indian food this is top notch!) My husbands favorites -Hot Honey Pepperoni (he gets it every time, with extra hot honey) My dad's favorites - This is Sparta (Greek with olives & sausage) or Grape & Gorgeous for those who like sweet and savory. Service is always amazing. Very friendly staff, they are great at recommending beer options for you if you want to try something new. read more

Highly recommended by engineers at the company I was visiting in South Jordan. I was there for an early dinner to watch my daughter's softball game on my iPad while sipping some brews and enjoying the awesome Tikkachu pizza with additional jalapeños and the cook's recommended pairing of Indian Smokey Ghost Pepper sauce (Naagin). Bartender was very helpful recommending locally brewed Templin Family IPA. Will definitely come back here next time I'm in town. read more

Ask the Community - Slackwater
Could I bring my own cake to celebrate a birthday after dining here?
Absolutely
Is the normal menu also available or just the brunch menu during brunch?
Both menus are available.
Is the waitlist on Yelp reliable?
Yes it's quite reliable. I hate to say the trick but always sit at the bar if possible though. Hardly ever a wait and better service even though all good.
Are kids allowed or is it a bar bar and hence no kids?
Kids are all good. We've brought our girl (they have high chairs) and seen others with children.
Are they Dog Friendly when dining in the outdoor patio?
Yes! We brought our dog and our waitress even brought her a small thing of water
Do you have heated outdoor dining available?
Kassandra, we do not have any outdoor patio seating available during the winter season. Hope you will visit us this spring when our patios open!
Is there gluten free options?
Absolutely there are! We have a homemade gluten free crust!
How's the alcohol here? Are the drinks decently strong?
I have only had the beer there but they have an extensive list! I have heard the mixed drinks are great though and strong enough.
