I arrived around 11pm on 6/19, ordered one coors banquet and finished it on the outside patio, and then I left the bar with a couple friends for a couple minutes, something I have done in countless bars in Utah. I was told we were not welcome to enter again, when we tried to walk in but someone came up to us, we were just having a private conversation in a car while there was a big group of people, I don't understand why we were not allowed back in, I would love for someone to respond, it seems like a lot of money was lost and the bartenders took the blow. read more

Came for bingo one night with my girlfriend. Actually really had a great time and the bar was pretty lively. We all actually ended up winning once which I thought was pretty cool. It was a little weird when we went outside to vape that we were immediately followed by security. However, we had such a good time that It didn't end up mattering. The food could be skipped. This is my favorite bar to take friends/family too when they visit! Loads of parking in the back. The decor and ambiance is fun! Johnny Cash inspired but also they use barrels as tables. So cool! Haven't used the patio yet but always see people out there. Beer selection is great & the food is amazing!!!! They make their own chips!! The Hellgate is my fav spicy burger in town so far!!! I loved this bar and am sad it lives so far away. Apt, I suppose, as one of my best friends also lives here. She is what brought me to Utah the first time, but since, I have had plenty of reasons to keep coming back. My friend and I had a magical time here recently. I'm a big fan of bars, especially divey ones, but rarely have I experienced something like this. It is rare that someone buys the entire bar a round of shots. It's happened maybe a couple times in all my years of bar hopping. It happened multiple times in a row here. We stopped counting at the third round. That was a first for me. They just kept coming. I don't know if someone lost a bet on the NBA Finals or was just in an exceptional mood, but they kept on buying everyone shots. Even though drinks are weaker in Utah, they were still adding up, so we had to make the smart decision to decline past shot #2 and leave. We were intrigued by the name and that's one of the reasons I wanted to check this place out, I can't lie. It did fit the theme too, with cool art pieces of the Man in Black throughout. I would not call it a dive by California standards. Too clean and well put together. They checked our IDs at the door and seated us in the middle of the bar, which was spacious, covered in posters and TVs. There were also various games available, like pool, ping pong, darts, and shuffleboard (all for free too....we don't have all this free stuff in California!). Our waitress was one of the most beautiful people, inside and out, that I've ever met in my life and I probably wouldn't have complained about this place even if it sucked, all because of her. I think she was a fairy or nymph or something, straight out of the storybooks. Our food was really good too. I wasn't a vegetarian yet on this trip, so I had an All American cheeseburger 'n fries, both of which came out quickly and were hot and fresh. We also ordered a boneless buffalo wang basket, which was so much food and tasty, too. I think I ordered mac n' cheese, but it was forgotten. We had more than enough food already and were having an amazing time. I also was not charged for it, so who cares? The drinks were also yummy! I don't know if it is The Law that drinkies are weaker in Utah, or if it's just what they do here, but I would keep that in mind if you're visiting. It's not a terrible thing. Some people think you can't even drink in Utah. You can. You just have to know where to go. I ordered a couple fruity drink specials. One I can't remember, but the other was the Sue Rickey (I kept calling it a Branch Rickey oops), a tangy, tart grape vodka and lime concoction. Then of course there were the bonus shots. I can't recall what one of them was, but the other was something called a Sassypants, which tasted of berries and probably vodka. Everything was fantastic and we had a really nice time. This place was friendly, and queer friendly too. It was during Pride weekend, so maybe more of us were in here than usual, but I got good vibes all around. I can't wait to return! I must say that I have not tried any of this place's food yet. Just turns out the times I've been here we weren't hungry. I don't expect much from it though - probably nothing special or particularly bad either. I give this 4 stars excluding that consideration. I would give it 5 stars if they had a larger beer selection - but they do have good options. Also let's call a spade a spade... Bad Named Sue is not trying to be your local swanky cocktail bar. We also don't have many options on this side of Town. This place is a phenomenal sports bar with plenty of screens. There is a patio if your interested in sitting outside. This a great local spot in Murray to enjoy a evening out . They have great bartenders and service -we've had Lisa take care of us twice already and she's becoming our go-to . They have pool, darts that are free to use . Fridays they have live music and that band is awesome! I have never met a boy named Sue and I have never been to A Bar Named Sue...that was, until the other day. Spoiler alert: I still have never met a boy named Sue. Upon approaching A Bar Named Sue on State, you will notice that they advertise some of their most prominent amenities by way of red neon signs around the perimeter of the building. Many bars have started charging people to play games, as if they are an arcade. I actually can't think of another place off the top of my head that offers unlimited free games. However, A Bar Named Sue is combating inflation one dart at a time. They offer shuffleboard, pool, darts, and ping pong free of charge to their customers. The overall vibe in A Bar Named Sue is interesting. They have all kinds of decorations throughout the establishment--most of them, I could not figure out, but that's part of the charm of A Bar Named Sue. When initially looking at the menu, A Bar Named Sue seemed promising with a lot of different options. My friends and I have heard great things about the cheese sticks and so we knew we wanted some of those. Our awesome bartender, Mac, also recommended we try the sampler. This was a perfect option, so we were able to try a bunch of different things. The cheese sticks and the sampler came out pretty quick. I liked the regular cheese sticks with ranch the most, but we also got a cheese stick with pepperjack inside, that was dusted with cajun seasoning. Within the sampler, were also these chicken bites that tasted amazing! Mac also brought us a whole platter of sauces and it was fun to be able to try all the different sauces A Bar Named Sue offers. They had a BBQ sauce that didn't taste like normal BBQ sauce I've had, but was still good. There was a teriyaki sauce--this one was one of my top favorites. There was also a regular ranch and a spicy ranch. Prior to visiting A Bar Named Sue, I heard amazing things about the ranch. Honestly, the ranch was good but it wasn't the best I have had. Personally, I am not the biggest fan of dill based ranches. It still tasted fresh and I could tell they make the ranch in-house. For the entree, I elected for the turkey sandwich with fries. I would've preferred the bread to be a bit softer, but it still tasted good with the sandwich. The turkey was amazing! This was only the week after thanksgiving so I am a bit shocked I wasn't "turkeyed out"...but this truly was some good quality turkey. The lettuce added a great texture and I loved the honey mustard drizzled within the sandwich. I am so glad I picked the turkey sandwich, as I was super satisfied with my meal. The fries paired nicely and I was so glad that we still had some sauce to go around for the fries too. Mac was especially awesome about checking in on us throughout our visit and making sure we had everything we need. She is friendly and easily has the brightest smile in the room. She was fun to talk to and made great conversation throughout our time there. I hope to get Mac every time I visit A Bar Named Sue--she's amazing! Overall, my whole experience at A Bar Named Sue was awesome. We went on a Monday night, so it wasn't too crowded and everything came out in a very timely fashion. It has been quite a while since I have visited. I have always loved their burgers and atmosphere. I finally found myself down there this afternoon with time to spare and needed some lunch. I was surprised it wasn't busier, but there were a few folks playing pool and maybe 4 patrons at tables or at the bar. I sat at the bar and was promptly greeted by a friendly bartender and placed an order for a draft beer and ordered a Hellsgate burger and fries. I loved everything about the burger except the meat. It was cooked properly, but man, what a tasteless patty. It looks to be a frozen patty that is just cooked on the flat top. Granted it was only 3-4 dollars more than a baconator, but c'mon get some fresh ground beef and season it. I would gladly pay a little more if the quality and size of the patty was actually similar to any other bar/burger joint. Sadly I would have to not recommend them for the burgers, but the service, atmosphere was great. read more

If you're not into watching sports, then you shouldn't even be here. I came with a friend to check this place out since we've heard some good things about it. Saturday night and I was charged a $5 cover fee to enter, makes sense since it's the weekend right? The DJ played radio music and added some very basic beats. A bit through the night, he sat back and played on his phone while continuing to play the top overplayed pop songs. Not only was he bored, I almost fell asleep at the bar. Really disappointing for "live music". The bar was so crowded that when we entered, there was literally no empty table. We finally found stools by the bar and the people next to us were cheering and booing very loudly. The crowd was very into the boxing match being displayed on the TVs so much that it was obnoxious. It was so noisy in the bar that my friend and I could only carry on a conversation if we screamed into each other's ears. We ordered Shirley Temples and onion rings. The Shirley Temples were good, a hint of alcohol that didn't overpower the sweet taste -- I enjoyed it quite a lot. The onion rings, however, were bartered so thickly that each ring was the size of my palm with about 2 inches in thickness. The beer batter was heavy but didn't taste very flavorful; it was the sauce that made it somewhat okay to swallow. Nonetheless, it was so greasy and unappetizing that we couldn't finish it. Besides the unnecessary cover fee, loud noise, constant cheering over boxing, annoying whistling sounds, and mediocre food, the pool tables were a nice addition. After a game, we wanted to try throwing darts. When we asks for darts, we were told they only had one set. So they had one set of darts but two dart boards? ...alright. We were disappointed and left. Overall, if you're not a middle aged sports fan, this probably isn't the bar for you. I for sure won't return. read more

I got there around 5:30 PM and because they have their own parking lot, I was quickly able to find parking that was super close to the entryway. Each person I interacted with - from the hostess to the different servers - were very friendly and helpful! They also surprisingly have really nice bathrooms. Always nice! And you know what, it's up to you to come for a drink if you want to know the bartender vibe or what kind of products they stock in said wells. What I can do, though, is give you a bit of commentary on the whole place. It's been years since I went to the other Bar Named Sue, across town. Back then it was full of millenials and there was a cover charge on a Thursday for no reason (I asked if there was a band or something but there wasn't) except they wanted you to pay them before you could come in and pay them to drink. So maybe that's what was in my mind when I stopped by here for a bit the other note with a friend. Millennials, hipsters, young professionals, and anyone of that ilk were nowhere to be found. The crowd here has gotten rough. There was a band (but no cover, so that's a plus) playing some raucous music and lots of drunkies shouting at them from in front. We made our way to the patio which is a good choice if you don't want to endure the noise inside (aka you want to have a conversation) but there are so many smokers out there that you can't really get a clean breath and enjoy the talk. I really do love dive bars for their laid back vibe. And while this is for sure a dive bar, its vibe just isn't mine. I'm far from hating on it--different strokes for different folks, right? I think it's just very much not my thing, and seems to be targeted to a very specific niche. So I've been looking for a good hang-out place since we've moved down to this area and I believe I've found it! A Bar Named Sue has free (yes, I said free) shuffleboard, pool, table tennis, and a jukebox. Yeah, the jukebox is free also. They also gave us a container of the silicon balls for the shuffle board table! Most other places I've been to just expect you to use your credit card to scoop it up out of the gutters. I could see how this place could get a bit crazy on a busy night, but we sat and played shuffleboard for a couple of hours and the place didn't get overly crowded (though, we did leave before the karaoke started, so perhaps that's when most of the crowd shows up). I ordered the ring of fire burger with the fries. Boy they were not joking around with this burger, it had some heat to it! I loved it. I gave a bite to my fiancee, who was instantly unhappy with me for not warning her that she would immediately want to guzzle a gallon of water. ^_^ good times. I loved the deep-fried jalapenos on it, nice touch, but not for the faint of heart. It's definitely a burning ring of fire. The fries were also great. Thick but crispy and well seasoned. The fiancee ordered The Old Sun burger. She actually gave me a bite and it was very good. Unfortunately, she only let me have one bite. She had the macaroni and cheese as the side and again, she only let me have one bite... how unfair! :P Overall, we had a great experience. We played free shuffleboard while enjoying good food, good music, and decent prices. The servers were great too. Second location for A Bar Named Sue. Housed in the former Oscar's. Parking is still a bit tight but we didn't come here to hangout in the parking lot. They've opened up the space a little and increased the lighting. They now have space for a couple of pool tables, darts and a stage. Lots of TVs as well although I'm not sure how they handle the audio. The small sampling of food I has was pretty average, nothing to write home about yet. Perhaps the Mac n Cheese or Chili will be the "it" dish but I haven't tried either yet. The staff still needs a bit more time to find there mojo as did the bartender the night we went. It's still new enough that it's not crowded and full of ******** like the original one has become. I think this will be a good addition to the pub scene for this end of the valley. read more

We stopped in to check things out. The place had more modern decor than I expected from the name. I was picturing some old dusty dive bar. They had finished concrete floors and newer leather pocket pool tables. The music playing at the time was a bit weird and not really my style. We had to order our drinks at the bar and take them over to the pool table area. Service was mostly non existent. If we wanted another round, we had to go get it at the bar. The kitchen was distracting the bar tender and she had to keep walking to and from the kitchen for food orders which seemed to take her a while to get back to the bar. There was a manager but he apparently did not serve drinks as he didn't acknowledge me standing there waiting for bar service. After a few games of pool and a long wait to get drinks, we finally left. Not sure I need to go back anytime soon. read more

I was there last Thursday night with 2 others, I had the Ring of fire with a Black Bean Veggie Patty, it was awesome, and the Fries are hand cut old fashion like we don't find any where around here these Days. They are probably the best Fries other that home made at home that I have ever had. All 3 of us loved our Burgers. Beer menu is good and priced pretty fare. I will be going back a lot I'm sure.
