We wanted to enjoy a delicious meal before driving through the Festival Of Lights so we decided to try Skyline. It was the perfect choice. We were sat at the windows with a great view of the Christmas lights. They offer regular menu or during the holidays they have a holiday buffet. Food was fantastic, variety was perfect, not overwhelming but just enough to satisfy. There was a beef station, pasta made to order, decadent desserts and even a small children's buffet. Honestly, we visited Skyline Kitchen & Bar because of the 10-scoop sundae. It's 10 scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, plus a whole slice of apple pie, a giant cookie, a brownie, Nutella, whipped cream, almond slices and cherries. It's very big and a little ostentatious. So, if you don't like strangers looking at you eating a gargantuan dessert and commenting on how big it is and how much food you're consuming, because you're in the south and people can't mind their own dang business, you might want to order something different. Between four people, we ate almost all of the sundae easily. Our server was impressed that we had finished almost all of it, and said that she's had parties of eight who didn't eat as much as we did. My kids were proud of themselves after hearing that. Before our excessive dessert, we had a normal-sized dinner. I ordered the pepperoni rolls because I wanted my kids to try them. Pepperoni rolls are a West Virginia specialty! The ones at Skyline are pretty good and come with marinara sauce to dip them in. Our table ordered two salads: the Chopped Salad (turkey, bacon, hard boiled eggs, avocado, tomatoes, onion, radish, lettuce, micro greens) and the Left Coast (romaine, black beans, potato, jicama, jalapeño, corn, tomatoes, cilantro). They were fresh and colorful, but the Left Coast had a touch too much dressing. This one would be much better ordered with "light dressing." We also got the pepperoni pizza (big enough for three people to share), the soup of the day which was bean soup, and the mini cheeseburgers from the kids' menu. The kids' menu is big and has 10 options on it, including fish sticks, which I don't typically see on a kids' menu. The service here is amazing. Our server was attentive and on top of everything. We were seated by the big windows that overlook the beautiful Oglebay grounds, and we got to see the sun set. What a nice place to have dinner and dessert at the resort. read more

This was delicious. We dropped in at Skyline at Oglebay after a busy day of sightseeing and fun. We weren't terribly hungry but wanted something. We ordered the tin can nachos and were not disappointe. They came out in a big tin can that was removed when served at our table. The picture is an accurate depiction. They were loaded down with tender seasoned chicken, black beans, lime crema, queso, jalapeño, and pico. Absolutely delicious. Perfect for sharing. Our server was attentive and helpful. read more

Skyline Kitchen and Bar at Oglebay is a new dining concept at the lodge in the space of the former Glassworks Grill / Ihelenfeld Dining Room, which has undergone a beautiful and much-needed renovation, and the results are impressive. The newly remodeled space feels fresh, modern, and inviting--definitely a big step up from its previous look. We visited for the breakfast buffet, which offered a solid mix of staples: scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, pastries, toast--you name it. But the real highlight was the made-to-order omelet, egg, and waffle bar. I love that touch of customization, and it really elevated the overall experience. Service was admittedly slow and stayed that way throughout our visit, which may be one of the tradeoffs of the buffet-style setup. Still, the staff was kind, and the pace didn't take away too much from the meal. No, it's not Bob Evans pricing--but I think it's fairly priced for a resort setting and a great option for hotel guests or locals meeting family for a casual breakfast. This place is beautiful with an amazing view, but you should come here for the amazing food! We had the meat lovers pizza, the pig and fig pizza, the short rib sandwich and a hamburger. Went here today for lunch with my grandma. The ambiance was very nice. The place was open and bright with lots of windows to see the beautiful area. The staff were friendly but the service was somewhat slow. I really enjoyed my French onion soup which was very flavorful. However my fish and fries were lackluster. The fish was overcooked and had not much flavor. My grandma did enjoy her sandwich though. I'd be open to trying this place again. Especially for their dinner menu instead of Lunch. Service was TERRIBLE. We waited over 45 minutes to get a draft beer and a sangria, not something that should take that long to put together. During that time the bartender was chatting with the lone customer at the bar. The food was incredibly lackluster for the price point. My Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was dry, lacked sauce and very small portion. My brother in law ordered a pizza that not only came out much later than our food but was missing the jalapeños he had requested. The holiday dinner buffet was excellent! My husband and I really enjoyed the variety and quality of the food. The service was great! Bridget was very friendly and efficient. The hostess, Jocelyn, was very helpful showing us the hallway so that we could get to the main lobby to pick up the trolley tour. The restaurant, itself, is beautiful with a great view of the lake and grounds. Great experience! read more
