I went one Friday to enjoy some jazz, (they have live music on Fridays) and never stopped going. I'm making it a point to try everything on the menu to see if I run into something I don't like. I haven't yet. It's been 4 months. All of their food is made from scratch. One of the owners is Italian, and her Wedding Soup is amazing. When I first wanted to try it, she gave me a cup on the house. I have since gotten to know the owners, and both are generous, wonderful, caring people. I see that they genuinely care about their patrons, and don't see them as dollar signs. Most of their employees have been there for years, so that says something about how they treat their employees as well. This place was a mess. Food was overcooked, my lettuce was brown, orders were VERY messed up, took over 45 minutes to get any food out, and our credit card was mixed up with the card from another table. The hostess coughed on our silverware as he sat us, and the tables/benches could use a good wiping down. Son and I from out of town showed up on a Sunday around 6:30PM as some of the good reviews I read said erroneously reported they were open longer. Come to find out Sunday's slower day and they close early. Seeing our disappointment the owner's wife asked her husband Greg if we could just get quick app and a beer (tough finding nice IPA in most of Steubenville) for which he extended the courtesy to not only stay open to feed us yet come over before dinner to personally greet us. Our very accommodating waitress Georgi brought us some awesome lightly batter fried zucchini app and later chicken parm and pork chops. Just when thought could not get more personable and friendly the chef (sadly forget her name) came over on her way out the door to ask how we enjoyed our meal with no remorse whatsoever that she stayed working little later to satisfy another patron. Upon a suggestion of another business owner I stopped over here to grab lunch. They have a huge parking lot in the back and you need to enter the front through a fenced alley. This place is huge! Not only do they have a full bar but they also have a banquet room for entertaining. I was seated immediately at a booth and my very friendly and helpful waitress guided me through the menu. Still on the mend from my tooth extraction I had to adjust my ordering. Sandwiches normally come with a side of fries but for a slight upcharge you can order the soup of the day in its place. I decided to go with the vegetarian wrap and the cook told me she would heat the vegetables up so that I wouldn't have difficulty eating it. I also went with their French onion soup which comes in a bowl. The soup was good and the crackers crisp. The vegetarian wrap was delicious and soft for me to chew on. Upon inquiry I did learn that they offer both gluten free and vegan options. Let them know if you have any special needs. It was nice to find a nice reasonably priced restaurant and bar in the heart of the small town of Steubenville. Located at the corner of 5th St and Washington St. they have plenty of parking in the back. read more

Amber was our server! She made sure that our drinks were plentiful and our food served hot! Sad part was there was not anyone else there for lunch but a few folks. Not sure why because this time everything was good and it was tasty! Fresh cut fries yummy. I got liver and onion and it was very delicious. Wife ha Goat cheese flatbread and she said it was excellent, tasty and flavorful. We started with Fiesta nachos and they were a plus! I'd order them again. Nice job ! read more

For the 8th year, we have ordered Thanksgiving dinner from Classic Corner. These people ruined Thanksgiving this year and were so unapologetic. We waited 45 minutes for our dinner to be ready after our scheduled time. Once we got the dinner home, our 3 soups were forgotten and EVERY SIDE was cold. The most insulting part was that they gave us a dry, sliced half turkey of all white meat and no drums after we ordered an I carved turkey. A key part of Thanksgiving is carving a turkey, but we never got that opportunity. After calling Greg, the manager, to voice concern about this situation, he was cold and unsympathetic. In transparency, they are delivering more sliced turkey to "compensate," but refused to do anything additional for our $260 purchase. We will NEVER order from this location again. Total selfish and unforgivable trash. Update: the restaurant made it right with a full turkey and replenishment of warmed sides. The employees that were sent were apologetic and sweet. We appreciate the effort to make it right. read more

I had a last-minute meeting scheduled and called Froehlich's. They were so helpful, and had a table set up for us upon arrival. The waitress was attentive, very helpful, and attended to our every need. When needed, the bartender brought drinks when the waitress was occupied at other tables. All in all, a seamless service delivery capped by the owner stopping by to check on our group. I definitely recommend them for lunch, dinner, and meetings! read more

This tends to be somewhere I go when I am downtown and need a drink. The drinks are good, and the bartender (Kim) is very attentive. I can't really review on the food because the only food I have had here were the garlic parm wings (i grab some almost every time i'm here) and a cheese stick I stole off of a friends plate. But I can say that the wings are perfect (for me). They are crispy, bigger than a lot of the wings around here and have the perfect garlic/parm ratio. It also seems that they have karaoke every night so If you're into that sort of thing, this is your place to go (I don't think anyone else has karaoke in the area but I could be wrong). read more

Boy, just try to find a place to eat in Steubenville after 8:00 pm. I went to the Italian restaurant all the travel guide books sort of half-heartedly recommend, and they were ushering the last of the customers out for the night. I drove back to the motel, who recommended the Chinese restaurant up the street, but that just didn't sound appealing to me for some reason. I drove around the absolutely deserted downtown, and after seeing 'Closed' after 'Closed' sign drove back and rolled my window down to ask the busboy who was walking to his car from the closed Italian restaurant, where HE THOUGHT I should go, and he directed me to turn this way, that way, up there, ignore the closed street sign and drive the wrong way, and look for the place with the lights on and park close. (Sorry about the run on sentence, but it was necessary.) I'm so glad I did! Since I was illegally parked, and my butt was asleep from so much driving just getting back to @#$* Steubenville, I have to say I wasn't expecting much or to stay very long, but Froehlich's turned out to be a total happy haven to a weary traveler. Froehlich's was a wonderful little up-and-coming, downtown-revitalization place, with a decent bar and food that was so much higher than my expectations, that I kept sort of exclaiming. Oh! This is so good! I ate the bar, and the people and atmosphere were truly a wonderful welcome for a first-time out of town guest. I had a fully decent glass of wine, a great plate of gnocchi, a well assembled salad and great house dressing, yummy grilled garlic bread... good silly 80's tunes and baseball on the tube... I started to feel human again despite a crazy plane ride and full-on road rage about the insane roadway system that seems to plague Pennsylvania/Ohio/West Virginia. The owner came out and sat for a while, turns out Froehlich's will deliver your food (and booze!) to your motel room, if you are in that part of the country for any reason. How cool is that? I will have to return to in the future, and I intend to let Froehlich's revive me. Happily, I didn't get a parking ticket. Hopefully the city will have the parking situation sorted out by the time YOU get there, or maybe there are different rules when there's daylight. Either way, if you're scrambling for a decent restaurant in the late evening (or during the day!) breathe a sigh of relief head to Froehlich's. You'll be glad you did. read more

I adore this place! I have gone here for a few years for Sunday brunch with my grandparents, who live near the area. The interior is very nice and I feel like is very representative of the city of Steubenville throughout the last century. The service was great and the food was amazing. Steubenville is not exactly a travel hub, but if you are passing through, I would definitely recommend this place for a dinner or brunch. read more

It's sad when the best things at a restaurant are the side of barbecue sauce and the sloppy joe sauce on the hamburger. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. It was burnt and dry. All you could taste was grease and the marinara dipping sauce. My husband ordered the French Atomic Burger, medium well. It arrived medium rare with little flavor and just slightly spicy. Most of the flavor came from the sloppy joe sauce. The fries that came with it had so little salt that he had to add his own (which is something he never does). I ordered a Greek burger. It was done correctly, but had hardly any of the feta that was supposed to be on it and the cucumber sauce was non-existant. Most of the flavor came from the grilled bun. The fries were also unsalted. Even the pickle on the side had no tart flavor to it. The server was very nice, although slow. read more

Decided to try based off of reviews and was disappointed. Ordered chicken parm figured It would be a safe choice. I was a bit surprised the pasta options were only angel hair and linguini. Went with the linguini. Came with a house salad which was good and had their house Greek dressing. The bread that came out with it was really, really good. Now for the main dish. Right away looking at it I was preparing to be disappointed. It just did not look good. The pasta looked dry and the cheese on the chicken was barley melted. The two pieces of garlic bread looked and we're very good. First bite of pasta was my last. The pasta although covered in sauce just tastes like water. The sauce also was very bland and like a bottled sauce. The breaded chicken was soggy yet burn on the underside. I scraped the breading off and tried to eat but got the burnt taste throughout. I tried to order something else but the kitchen was closing so I just asked for my check and taking a piece of cheese cake to go which I overheard is store bought so it should probably be ok. It's a shame I thought I found a new spot but not the case. read more

This is probably the best tasting burger I have ever eaten. We were in town for a few days and being from the NYC area we found it difficult to find food we could eat as my husband has dietary restrictions and I, well, am a bit of a food/coffee/beer snob. Froelichs was the first place we ate that left us both happy and satisfied. The wait staff was awesome, prices good and location was perfect and only a 3 minute drive from our hotel. Don't let the location or dated atmosphere fool you. You park in back (brick walled parking lot) and that is where the entrance is as well, not the door on the front street. As good as it gets around the Ville! (This is "THE TRUE VILLE" restaurant that shows off good food, high quality, fun times and great people at good prices in a safe, warm and friendly atmosphere). We have gone here for years and the owner and his wife are awesome (as well as the staff). Always professional and truly caring that you have a great experience. The place is clean and presentable, great for public events and private meetings, the food is always top notch and the drinks are delicious. Again, they truly care about quality in every area. I recommend their holiday meals. Our family has been to a few of the Thanksgiving events as well as others and the food is extraordinary, the selection is plentiful and the prices are very good. During this shutdown, my personal treat has been takeout from Froehlich's. I've had the seabass, chicken cacciatore, & fried chicken and all were good, especially the chicken cacciatore. Strange that I've never had this when I've visited in person because it was better than any Italian restaurant. To my fellow Franciscans. Over the years once you reach 21 more likely than not your friends will want to get off campus to find some nightlife. More than likely they'll want to go here. Now I seemed to have a few fun nights here and it's an experience I would like you to have. But we don't realize as college students how dangerous parts of Steubenville can be. I've heard of some crazy things happening here but I do think you'd have a good time here and find it refreshing. So by all means go here especially on Thursday nights but always with one eye open. read more

Very disappointed with this restaurant. The bar was the only thing I really liked about it.. My angel hair pasta was waaaayyyyy over-cooked. It was clumped together, dry and pasty. The manager told me and I quote, "Angel hair pasta is hard to cook sometimes". Uhhhh, your cook is being paid to get it right, this isn't ma and pa kettles kitchen? I expressed my discontent, he saw that it was well overcooked and never offered a replacement. He literally walked away. I was looking for a place to host a rehearsal dinner, complicated by the fact that we lived hundreds of miles away. We selected Froehlich's Classic Corner and were able to have a dinner for 45 people in their lower level room. Greg made it easy to plan during many telephone calls. We discussed menu, decor, etc. and when we showed up 6 hours before the event to decorate, the room was being prepared for our dinner. Everything worked well, with a bar and space to mingle during a cocktail reception. Based on Greg's recommendation, we had decided to serve soup and salad, followed by a buffet dinner with three entree choices. They also served chicken tenders for the children's meals. The fresh peach cobbler served with ice cream was a delicious end to the meal. The food was good, and the service was very good. They helped make the rehearsal dinner a special evening before the big day. read more

Came here on a Friday night not wanting to go to any of the local chains & was pleasantly surprised. Many more seafood selections than I expected. I wouldn't order the sad wilted salad again but liked the Alfredo sauce with Angel hair pasta. The cod dinner was good too. The bread that came with dinner was yummy and served warm. Didn't seem like anything we ordered was packaged frozen and just heated up. The bar was full but the dining room still had plenty of tables open. I used to go to this restaurant on a fairly regular basis, as well as the owners' other restaurant. The last time I went, which was several years ago, I had the seared ahi tuna. Tuna should be seared on the outside and very rare inside. My tuna was seared on the outside and frozen on the inside. My wife's pasta dish wasn't a whole lot better.
