Skyline Kitchen and Bar at Oglebay is a new dining concept at the lodge in the space of the former Glassworks Grill / Ihelenfeld Dining Room, which has undergone a beautiful and much-needed renovation, and the results are impressive. The newly remodeled space feels fresh, modern, and inviting--definitely a big step up from its previous look.
We visited for the breakfast buffet, which offered a solid mix of staples: scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, pastries, toast--you name it. But the real highlight was the made-to-order omelet, egg, and waffle bar. I love that touch of customization, and it really elevated the overall experience.
Service was admittedly slow and stayed that way throughout our visit, which may be one of the tradeoffs of the buffet-style setup. Still, the staff was kind, and the pace didn't take away too much from the meal.
No, it's not Bob Evans pricing--but I think it's fairly priced for a resort setting and a great option for hotel guests or locals meeting family for a casual breakfast.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the updates and excited to come back and try lunch or dinner sometime soon! read more
