When I am on the road for work, I try to find and patronize the local, mom and pop style places but I can't always do that and sometimes I do eat at a chain restaurant. Today is one of those days. My day ended early and I was heading back to the hotel when I remembered there was a Skyline Chili around the corner from the hotel. I say my day was done early which is true to the extent that I could not continue what I was doing at my customer's site but there was/is plenty for me to do on y laptop back at the hotel. For the un-initiated, Skyline Chili is Cincinnati style chili and is one of those foods that you either love or hate. Cincinnati chili is a chili that has the addition of cinnamon and is placed on a bed of spaghetti. It comes in "ways" that allow you to make it the way you like. I ordered mine 5-way which is Cincinnatti chili, spaghetti, beans, onions, and cheese. Skyline makes sure you have enough onion to make sure you brush your teeth before speaking to anyone or kissing your significant other. They also provide enough cheese so that you can create a mountain on top of your chili. You get a couple bags of oyster crackers and some hot sauce also if you so desire. Like I said, Cincinnati chili is not for everyone. It has been known to tear apart families but if you love it, you love it. The Skyline Chili in West Chester, OH is great! Super quick service, friendly staff, and pretty darn good Cincinnati chili. Don't be scared of the cinnamon. It does make for a chili you probably aren't used to unless you are from or live close to the area. Try it and if it isn't your thing, at least you can say you have tried it. As native Cincinnatians, my son and had to get Skyline one more time before we headed back to Texas. I've been through the drive-thru at this location, but never dined in, and curious how they were handling the pandemic. We were very comfortable dining in, the restaurant was clean, kept clean as diners left, and the staff all had masks. the service was fast, as we've come to expect from Skyline (after all, everything is already cooked, it just needs to be plated.) the server was great, and payment is taken at the table versus the usual at-the-register payment typical at Skyline. And the descriptions of the "hint of cinnamon" scared me a bit. But now after visiting Skyline Chili - I get you Cincinnati, I get you. By the time I had stopped into Skyline, I was on a regional dish tear. As just the day before I was at Primanti BroS in Pittsburgh and I had one of their signature sandwiches. Atmosphere - Sit down restaurant, black metal padded seats, dark wood tables, clean, and slightly bright. Food - I ordered the 5-way chili, which is their signature dish that includes spaghetti, chili, red beans, onions, and topped with about a pound of shredded cheddar cheese. At first I thought the cheese would be too much. However, it is shredded so finely that is sits on the chili like a tasty yellow cloud. The chili in the dish had a very mild spicy flavor. I detected hints of cinnamon and maybe even clove in the sauce. I enjoyed my order very much. I could have easily had a second plate, as it was that good to me. Service - Friendly and helpful with the ordering process. She even offered me a bid with my meal...spaghetti can get messy! Overall - I give this place 4 stars. Why not 5? My go-to favorites include one of these line items: Three coneys all the way (bun, mustard, fresh onions, chili, and cheese) Buffalo chicken wrap (with bleu cheese dressing and extra tomatoes) Greek salad (with two packets of dressing, extra kalamata olives, and extra tomatoes) While you're waiting for your food to arrive be sure not to eat too many oyster crackers with a drop of hot sauce on each one. We love skyline chili. If you are ever in Cincinnati, it is a must have. When the family and I come back to Cincy, our very first stop is lunch at skyline chili. If you don't know what to expect, well let me explain. See most people when they think of chili, they think of Texas style chili and we do to, but get that out of your head when going to skyline. When we talk about Cincy style chili, it isn't typically eaten as a meal by itself (there are some who do). It is usually served as a topping. Topping on what you ask. Well .... spaghetti, hot dogs, French fries and as dip (with cream cheese). So our chili is a little more runny than traditional chili. When you're on a vacation in Cincinnati you just have to try the chili! We opted for Skyline and it was the best decision ever! I got the 4-way Chili (with diced onions). It was phenomenal! The chili is served over top of spaghetti and topped with mounds and mounds of cheese. In fact if I had one slight issue with this place it was just the absolute insanity of the amount of cheese they give you. But anytime when your only complaint is too much cheese then you know you've scored gold! The manager came out and was so friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. Somebody spilled cinnamon in meat sauce and decided to call it chili...then they went to costco and decided to dump a bag of shredded cheddar cheese on top. Whoever made this was either drunk or high...or both (not judging). I admit, it wasn't terrible but my expectations were really low. Not being from Cincinnati originally, I do not consider this chili. I consider it a food group all on its own - Skyline. I just call it by name. After living in Cincinnati for 20 years, I have grown to love it. This location is one of the better one's in this area that I have been to. If you have 20 minutes for a sit-down lunch, that is all you need. I am pretty sure I have spent more time in some drive-thru's than I have parking, sitting down, ordering, eating, paying and driving out of this location. With two kids in tow. If you want super-fast, sit at the counter. The menu actually has quite a few things on it that do not involve "chili". Their wraps and potatoes are my personal favorites. The Deluxe Burrito is also a very good choice and does involve the "filling". My kids also like the hot dogs with cheese only, but you can get all kinds of other things on there too. The wait staff is superb. Friendly, attentive and fast. When they bring your check, do not pay from the table. Just take it directly up front and pay. First time in Cincinnati and Skyline Chili seems to be all over so I thought I'd give it a try. I got the 4 way chili over spaghetti. It was topped with plenty of shredded cheddar cheese. The chili was quite meaty and flavorful. The 4 way chili added diced onions. The spaghetti and chili combination was pretty good. We also ordered chili fries. This too was topped with shredded cheese. You do want to eat it quickly otherwise the fries will get soggy. The service here was good and the food came out quickly. It was my very first time and I was not disappointed. As a matter of fact, after surveying the building from the outside, I was quite surprised as to what I found inside. I got a large Ways to go. If you are not from Cincinnati the chili will be very different than you are used to. That being said, it is very tasty. I had the 5-way and a Regular Coney w/out cheese. Both were good. The food will, most likely, now wow you but you will leave full and happy. They believe in cheese! There is cheese, a lot of it, on everything. Know that going in and ask for light or no cheese if that is a problem. The staff is very friendly. Taylor was very nice and attentive. If I return to Cincinnati I will definitely be back. read more

Generally I really like Skyline Chili, but this location just doesn't live up to my expectations. On a very recent visit, this past Sunday, I remembered why my family and I do not go to this location. Someone needs to tell them (other than me) that cooking the noodles as long as they do does not make the noodles better, it makes them soggy! They are very small dogs, so you need two! I love local famous places that you can only get in that area. Great service, great food. Gina is an amazingly attentive waitress with a wonderful personality. Our usual manager is just as incredible - personally checks on tables regardless of how many tables there are. Quick and easy for lunch but let's be honest - we go anytime, all the time.
