Can't wait to dig in to my Skyline chili 5-way. Look at all of those fixins!
Greg H.

When I am on the road for work, I try to find and patronize the local, mom and pop style places but I can't always do that and sometimes I do eat at a chain restaurant. Today is one of those days. My day ended early and I was heading back to the hotel when I remembered there was a Skyline Chili around the corner from the hotel. I say my day was done early which is true to the extent that I could not continue what I was doing at my customer's site but there was/is plenty for me to do on y laptop back at the hotel. For the un-initiated, Skyline Chili is Cincinnati style chili and is one of those foods that you either love or hate. Cincinnati chili is a chili that has the addition of cinnamon and is placed on a bed of spaghetti. It comes in "ways" that allow you to make it the way you like. I ordered mine 5-way which is Cincinnatti chili, spaghetti, beans, onions, and cheese. Skyline makes sure you have enough onion to make sure you brush your teeth before speaking to anyone or kissing your significant other. They also provide enough cheese so that you can create a mountain on top of your chili. You get a couple bags of oyster crackers and some hot sauce also if you so desire. Like I said, Cincinnati chili is not for everyone. It has been known to tear apart families but if you love it, you love it. The Skyline Chili in West Chester, OH is great! Super quick service, friendly staff, and pretty darn good Cincinnati chili. Don't be scared of the cinnamon. It does make for a chili you probably aren't used to unless you are from or live close to the area. Try it and if it isn't your thing, at least you can say you have tried it. You never know, it just might be your thing.

As native Cincinnatians, my son and had to get Skyline one more time before we headed back to Texas. I've been through the drive-thru at this location, but never dined in, and curious how they were handling the pandemic. We were very comfortable dining in, the restaurant was clean, kept clean as diners left, and the staff all had masks. the service was fast, as we've come to expect from Skyline (after all, everything is already cooked, it just needs to be plated.) the server was great, and payment is taken at the table versus the usual at-the-register payment typical at Skyline. I'd had no reservations dining in again during the pandemic.

Ordered a "4way". And a bowl of chili. Chili on the bottom, followed by chopped onion, spaghetti topped it off with cheddar

Very good restaurant. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We got recommendations from several locals that that Skyline Chili had the best Cincinnati chili. It was the first time I was to a sit down restaurant that was also a drive-through. Food came out fast and it was delicious. It was my first time eating Cincinnati chili therefore I think it lived up to its reputation.

I was last at Skyline Chili 25 or so years ago. Of course anyone going to Cincy is reminded that they put chili on pasta. My question going in was "why?" My question leaving was still "why?" When I have chili, I really want chili. Not pasta with meat sauce. It wasn't bad and the unexpected table service was good, but I just don't get it. Sorry, Cincy, I'll stick to homemade.

3 way :)

So my friend had been telling me for awhile how next time I was in Ohio I had to try the 3 way. I was finally back in town and made it a priority to stop by to get some. I ordered the 3 way mix the cheese in was delicious. Its an odd combination I know but for some reason it just works. This meal is a bit heavy and can be shared since I wasn't able to finish it.

YUM!

I'll be the first to admit, I kind of gave Cincinnati Chili the side-eye. I'm from the Detroit area, and we have very strong opinions about how chili and chili dogs should be served. And the descriptions of the "hint of cinnamon" scared me a bit. But now after visiting Skyline Chili - I get you Cincinnati, I get you. I did a chili dog with everything and a small 4-way with onions. I was in love. The signature hot sauce is perfect with the chili, and I even had to buy a few bottles before leaving. The staff are super fast and friendly, had a great experience, in fact we went back the next day!

I think their chili is an acquired taste. However, their floats are delicious and staff is super friendly!

Always great but disappointed that I heard they are changing from Pepsi to Coke products. Clients that love Mountain Dew are not happy.

Poorly run - no tables cleaned, wait time to order was ridiculous, and the ordering system was not at all explanatory.

Frustrating! I get…read moreall of us need to cut corners where we can, but this was ridicules! I hit the drive thru and got two 4 ways and two coneys. We were in a hurry and left once the food was received. While on the road my passengers opened to bags to find the food had VERY little chili, no utensils, napkins, crackers or hot sauce..... the drive thru window was pasted with signs saying something like they would charge for crackers, one packet of hot sauce, ect.... I spent $25 and couldn't eat it, we were on the highway heading out.... Are crackers, napkins and forks the hill you want to die on? I can't believe this saved enough to make a difference.... There are too many options for Skyline, I won't be back!

Over a decade ago I used to watch Food Network and Travel Channel food shows all the time, and…read morethat's how I learned about the Cincinnati chili. I finally made it to Cincinnati on a random weekend trip from Kentucky and knew I had to stop somehwre to try the famous dish. I tried ordering a small size of the Cincinnati chili since I just wanted to try it but not fully commit to it. However, my waitress said that small was like a kid's size. So I got suckered into ordering a medium size, which I thought was a big portion for two people. But hey, I'm not from the area so I see portion sizes differently from the locals there. The dish tasted like what I was expected, and there wasn't any wow factor. The amount of shredded cheese is unnecessary in my opinion. Nonetheless it's good though, and I would try to recreate it at home.
