    Chili Cheese Footlong w/o Onions
    Jessica C.

This was my first time at Jolly's. It's a Hamilton staple and I have failed till now to try it. It was delicious. It's an old school drive in root beer stand. I always love these; amazing food with fun nostalgia. And Jolly's is a legit old school drive in with an 80 year history. I got a Chili Cheese Footlong without Onions. It was very good, a little heavy on the mustard to the point it over powered the chili so I will get it without mustard next time. The French Fries are out of this world. Cooked and salted perfectly. The onion rings are just as amazing. Perfectly crunchy outside a delicious sweet onion on the inside. The Root Beer like all Root Beer stands was absolutely delicious. It was hard to drink it slowly. Also if you make a trip to Jolly's you MUST get a bag of their popcorn! It's better than movie theater popcorn!! It's super buttery and the perfect amount of salt. My friend calls it " contraband" if she goes without her kids.

Best chili dog I have ever had. Smothered with cheese. Of course the homemade root beer to top it off. Old style drive up. Cool place

Chili sauce is not a thing, it's Reuther chili or it isn't, this is a low rent Sonics or Rallys. Save your money and give yourself diarrhea

I asked for a nice table, but they sat us next to the bar... I'm not sure why since the other dining room was open and no one was in there eating The food was no better than what you could get at the Denny's restaurant... the service was no better than a poorly managed diner, and the ambience was that of a slightly elevated cafeteria... Flavorless, dry salmon, a house wine that ended up being sparkling, despite the fact that it didn't claim to be so on the menu, and a waitress in blue jeans and a sweatshirt that might as well have been working at McDonald's... If you're going to claim to be a fine dining restaurant... Maybe you should pay a little more attention to the fine detail. I can't recommend this restaurant unless you're all about paying a lot of money for very little wow factor.

There is a small parking lot plus street parking available. One interesting thing is the numerous old photos of Hamilton hanging on the walls. There is even one of the building back in the day! We ordered an Anna's pretzel with beer cheese and horse cheese as an appetizer. It was one of the best soft pretzels I've eaten! Large, warm and the 2 dipping sauces made a great accompaniment. We ordered a Reuben and fish and chips also. They were yummy as well. The bar tender/waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The prices are very moderate. I noticed they even offered lunch specials. I definitely plan on visiting again.

The waitress seemed helpful enough, though, as there's weren't many customers this early in the evening, she was too busy watching the Winter Olympics to give me more than the cursory attention needed to bring my food out and take my payment. But the food definitely made up for that. This is made-from-scratch creativity at its finest. I got the Reuben's Stones, expecting a fried fritter, but got a delicate, made-like-my-mamma-would pastry instead. It was soft and doughy inside, and jam-packed with corned beef. The fish in the fish and chips was huge, hot, and right out of the fryer. And the fries had to be made from scratch, because I've never seen that particular shape come out of a freezer bag: they looked cut naturally from the round, and were also hot and tasty. And the warm butter cake was as amazing as everyone said. Actually it's this small squat cake that looks like a muffin -- until you cut into it and realize it's soaked in syrup inside & absolutely delicious. The only disappointment were the green beans --- they were overcooked and mushy -- though maybe that's how English green beans are authentically cooked. Overall, though, my visit was a real adventure filled with authentic and delicious surprises. I will definitely be back to try more.

While we waiting for the food the waitress came once but didn't even ask if we needed drink refills or anything. Her service got worse from the time we sat down until we left. It was giving she knew something was up and avoiding us. Since we were the last table in the restaurant so it wasn't busy. When our meals finally came they were luke warm. I ordered the short rib and there were maybe 5 small little pieces of meat. Keep in mind this one of the most expensive things on the menu at $40. When ordering a meal for that much I expect there to be a big piece of meat. Not sure why they fried the poblano pepper that also came with it because it was gross. My dad got the stuffed salmon and wouldn't even touch the crab inside because he said it was off. My mom got a burger but hard to screw that up. I am not one to send a meal back but I would have had it not taken forever to get the meal in the first place. And honestly if I need to send something back I don't want something else.

She recognized my friend and I were busy talking and didn't rush us to place our order. My friend ordered the tortilla soup and the caprese flatbread, while I went with the crab, shrimp, and lobster bisque and the Leonard burger with fries. My soup came out quickly, but shortly after, the manager came by to let my friend know they were out of the tortilla soup. Because of her dietary restrictions, she declined the substitute options offered. Our entrées arrived without any issues, and everything was delicious. We were both happy with our meals. My friend is a member of their wine club and applied her discount to the bill, but when the check arrived, the discount wasn't reflected on the receipt she was asked to sign. Victoria promptly spoke with the manager, who confirmed the discount had been applied and provided a corrected receipt with the correct total. We made our reservation about a month in advance, arrived early at 5:00 p.m. for our 5:15 seating, and were seated fairly quickly. Our waitress, Margaret, was friendly at first--but unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. We waited 45 minutes for our starter and an hour and a half for our entrée. What made it more frustrating was watching nearby tables--many seated after us--receive their meals, finish, and even turn over while we were still waiting. We finally left around 7:30 p.m., feeling very disappointed. The food at Cooper's Hawk is consistently excellent, which is why this experience was so discouraging. There were also billing issues: I had a birthday reward and several wine bottles through my membership available, yet the wine was still charged to our bill and the birthday reward wasn't applied until I pointed it out. Although part of it was corrected, we still ended up paying for the bottle that should have been included. We usually enjoy wonderful visits here, and Cooper's Hawk remains one of my favorite restaurants. However, this particular experience--especially the long wait times and billing confusion--was truly disappointing, and I would hesitate to dine in the same section again.
